Exciting update from MNHQ! Series writer Grace Ofori-Attah will be joining us this week to answer your questions about the Playing Nice series. Post your questions for Grace on this thread.

Playing Nice is available to stream now on ITVX

We’re teaming up with ITV to bring you a live watch-along of Playing Nice, their gripping new drama that’s bound to have everyone talking. We’ll be watching right alongside you, so hop into the thread and share your thoughts, theories, and reactions in real time and be in with the chance of winning a £200 voucher for a store of your choice.

Here’s the setup (brace yourself): Set against the stunning Cornish coastline, Playing Nice follows two couples as they uncover a heart-wrenching secret - their toddlers were accidentally switched at birth. Now, they face an impossible decision: keep the children they’ve loved and raised, or reclaim their biological child.

It’s tense, emotional, and we’re betting it’ll spark some heated debate. What would you do in their shoes? Let’s unravel it together - don’t forget the popcorn.

Trigger warning: Playing Nice doesn’t shy away from difficult topics, including family separation, identity, postpartum depression, emotional trauma, and domestic abuse, which some viewers may find distressing

WTF? this is getting so tangled! (as is my brain)

What is going on? I struggle to understand how this has turned into an abduction case

I liked the first episode anyway but I thought this was even better, I can’t believe how angry it’s made me!

I’m guessing Miles has said or claimed something? Maybe fabricated some evidence? 😤

Guess we’ll find out next Sunday. Going to try and not watch on itvX before then…

I have been shouting at the TV!

ABigBarofChocolate · 06/01/2025 22:08

I'm on episode 3. It's making my blood boil but I need to keep watching just to see how it ends. I could punch Myles.

SisterAgatha · 06/01/2025 22:16

I felt sick at the very thought of my babies being switched yesterday when it started. Now just finished episode 2.

Why are they falling in to every trap that Miles sets for them?

Maddie getting drunk at the party. Pete threatening him. Pete not admitting that the tag wasn’t on the baby so that his mate wouldn’t get in trouble - thus leading to the arrest because now the hospital will claim no fault on their part.

Why are they being so stupid

Because the tags were on the babies as far as Pete’s testimony goes. So then how did they get switched unless one of them stole the others child.

Miles will claim they stole Theo… and Pete has stated that the hospital did everything correctly. To save some character that just turned up instead of his wife and kid.

Itsanadventure · 06/01/2025 22:20

It’s so frustrating but I love shows that make you want to scream at the tv or give a character a shake to wise up, Broadchurch was like that too

SisterAgatha · 06/01/2025 22:21

Agreed but at some point Pete is going to have to think a step ahead. He just hung up on the Daily Mail reporter without even asking her name 😂

sorechalfonts · 06/01/2025 22:24

It’s dreadful

SisterAgatha · 06/01/2025 22:25

Jellykat · 06/01/2025 21:05

Surely, if Theos birth certificate can be changed by Miles because of DNA tests, then Maddie and Paul can do the same with Davids?

Maddy and Pete won’t think of that till episode 28 and by then the boys will be grown up and have a spin off show 😂

Good point! Pete is the biggest idiot. SURELY he’ll wise up in episode 3? Not sure how much more annoyed I can get at a tv show… I bet I will though 😅

LouisvilleSlugger · 06/01/2025 22:33

Inexplicably, even though we’d seen 1&2, we watched all 4.

A plot dafter, more riddled with holes and laughable legal and technological inaccuracies, I’d struggle to find. I’m sure at least 3 of the 4 main cast are well-known and didn’t need this silly gig.

We did enjoy the rugged scenery and had a great laugh guessing correctly what was coming next.

hugsandpugs · 06/01/2025 22:33

My heart broke for little David when Myles was playing with Theo and saying to him he loved him the most! Poor David! Just wanted to give him a big hug! 🤗

neveradullmoment99 · 06/01/2025 22:40

I mean maybe I missed the part where they put a tracker on the car?

SabreIsMyFave · 06/01/2025 22:42

I have watched it all now (ITVX.) Really enjoyed it. Well acted and well written. And yeah, who doesn't want to watch James Norton for 4 hours?! 😍 He is a good actor too!

Not sure why some people are being so scathing of it. (Particularly on the other thread about it.) Some posters started when only half an episode in. They did it on the Missing You series too that was on recently... One episode in people were laying into it. Saying 'OMG this is crap!' and 'I seriously CBA with sticking with this shite.' And similar comments ... It's like some people are just not satisfied with anything, and want to just slate everything. (Often without even giving it a chance.) Weird. Confused

Just enjoy it for what it is; a drama that is not real life. It's not that deep.

I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m getting really annoyed with Lucy! But I also feel bad for her.
On the one hand I think how can she just stand there watching all this unfold and not do anything? But then Miles is defo abusing and controlling her so she’s just another victim in this

VivienneDelacroix · 07/01/2025 01:45

I don't think they are police officers.

Boleyn24 · 07/01/2025 09:06

We watched episode 2 last night. Like others really annoyed at some scenes - the “mediation” for instance, Pete just going along with anything Miles suggests, putting the phone down on the Mail journalist.

This has been bugging me overnight. Miles and Lucy took a DNA test and found no match to David. Peter and Mads the same with Theo. But neither have done a test with the child they believe is their biological own, have they? Did I miss it?
if they haven’t there is no proof that Miles and Lucy are the parents of Theo so how could they get a birth certificate altered. And would that be legal anyway.
help!!!

I thought that too. They only have a negative test for David, not a positive test for Theo.

Now that would be a plot twist wouldn’t it! A third child!

I fancy Miles a little 🙃 like ok yes, he’s a psycho, and does a lot of hanging about mysteriously on hillsides, balconies, the top of the stairs and behind doors, but he’s sticking up for his wife and family more than Pete is at the moment. Pete just keeps repeating what miles has said but a couple of days later 😂 “we are going for both boys” or “we will have to sue the hospital”

WhatICallMyUsername · 07/01/2025 11:29

They got a court approved doctor to go and take a DNA sample from Theo when he was there for a nanny shared visit which is now presumably why they won't let them have David unsupervised so they can't do the same to get his birth certificate changed. Their solicitor told them it was easy to change the birth certificate with the DNA result

Thank you I missed that.
so is that legal?

SingaporeSlinky · 07/01/2025 12:57

I didn’t understand that bit about the ‘court approved doctor’ - can they just take a dna sample from a child without parental consent? And if the doctor was approved, why were both sets of parents not informed and both given the opportunity to have both boys tested, not have one swing by one house and not the other.

And why are Pete and Maddie allowing all these visits, while they get ones that are on cctv and with a nanny in the room? Why would they just accept everything on the other couple’s terms. It’s very frustrating.

hugsandpugs · 07/01/2025 14:00

One thing this programme does highlight is the notion that nobody knows what goes on behind closed doors. Myles and Lucy seem like the perfect family on the outside - huge house, lots of money, a nanny etc. However, it’s apparent that he’s a nasty piece of work and I’m sure that’s apparent at home too. Maybe he’s emotionally and/or physically abusive to Lucy. She doesn’t seem to say much so is she being controlled?
