Exciting update from MNHQ! Series writer Grace Ofori-Attah will be joining us this week to answer your questions about the Playing Nice series. Post your questions for Grace on this thread.

Playing Nice is available to stream now on ITVX

We’re teaming up with ITV to bring you a live watch-along of Playing Nice, their gripping new drama that’s bound to have everyone talking. We’ll be watching right alongside you, so hop into the thread and share your thoughts, theories, and reactions in real time and be in with the chance of winning a £200 voucher for a store of your choice.

Here’s the setup (brace yourself): Set against the stunning Cornish coastline, Playing Nice follows two couples as they uncover a heart-wrenching secret - their toddlers were accidentally switched at birth. Now, they face an impossible decision: keep the children they’ve loved and raised, or reclaim their biological child.

It’s tense, emotional, and we’re betting it’ll spark some heated debate. What would you do in their shoes? Let’s unravel it together - don’t forget the popcorn.

Trigger warning: Playing Nice doesn’t shy away from difficult topics, including family separation, identity, postpartum depression, emotional trauma, and domestic abuse, which some viewers may find distressing

DH said when they got the letter saying they wanted both boys that he'd move where they couldn't find him.

This is exactly what I said to my DH, although way before that bit. I would take my child and be as far away as possible. The biological child could contact me when they were 18, but I wouldn't be letting Miles anywhere near the child I've brought up.

Me and DP were debating this also! I just think the biological pull would be too strong for me (even though I hadn’t known or raised the other child) I don’t think I could leave once I knew and especially if the other parents were clearly psychos like Miles

Gah I wanted to watch this but couldn’t find it to record it the other day. Is it too late to catch up on tonight’s episode? I can never seem to find anything on ITV app to catch up afterwards. Will episode 1 be repeated any other days this week?

It's on itvx/stv player depending on where you are. I'm in Scotland so need to watch on stv.

But he's not your child therefore you would be a kidnapper and a fugitive from justice.

Would he not be as well? Or would be a case like he didn't know etc?

Secondguess · 06/01/2025 01:02

This thread reminds me of "back in the day" before streaming services were available, and people would have the shared experience of watching programmes as they were broadcast and discussing them next day at work etc. <nostalgia> 😊

Onceuponatimeinalandfaraway · 06/01/2025 01:20

Well I’ve watched all four episodes on itvx tonight! Did not like the ending, I wanted more detail to wrap it up, felt like it missed bits of info out that I’d have had in a book. Guess I need to find the book to read and see lol

WallaceinAnderland · 06/01/2025 01:23

I'm halfway through episode 2 and it's just annoying me so not sure if I will continue. It's so unrealistic. Such a shame because it's a good idea for a drama but why make it so predictable.

I'm on ep4 right now and I hope it doesn't end how I think.

twobluehorses · 06/01/2025 03:31

I’ve just had to switch off half way through episode 2 (after the mediation session). I found it way too stress inducing.

LookingforMaryPoppins · 06/01/2025 06:44

I binge watched all 4 episodes. Really enjoyed it and absolutely did have anxiety! Will there be a sequel I wonder, or prequel.... there are certainly loose ends to tie up, I am left wanting to know what happened next, and before!

Such a horrible situation, rock and hard place! Even without one family playing very dirty! So many issues covered including nature / nurture which does again leave an opening for more.

tammy98 · 06/01/2025 07:51

Watched it all and I enjoyed it very much.

Am in England. I think you have to pay extra for ITVx right? Hoping I can still catch up for free via ITV somehow….

Augustus40 · 06/01/2025 08:12

ITVX is free.

Am on episode 3. Luv James Norton.

Yes! I really want to skip ahead but I’m actually quite enjoying this thread and our collective Miles hate in real time 😅

No itvx is free. You can pay for a premium version which has no adverts but the bog standard one is free.

Itvx is free. You can upgrade to pay extra for certain things but it's free like all the other catchup stations

Me too. He's got such a lovely nature and he's so handsome. And also a great actor 👏

SingaporeSlinky · 06/01/2025 11:39

It’s annoying me how many times Pete calls Miles ‘mate’.
And why aren’t Pete or Maddie just saying “mate, it’s getting a bit much with you turning up unannounced with gifts and expecting to see Theo whenever you like”.
And why aren’t the hospital arranging some sort of therapy or supervised visits?

ChessieFL · 06/01/2025 12:55

I’ve just watched the first episode. I thought it was very slow and haven’t decided yet if I’m going to bother with the rest. I have read the book and did enjoy it, although I can’t recall now how it ended.

Redshoeblueshoe · 06/01/2025 14:07

I thought it was rubbish. James Norton what a bloody wimp. Also why didn't he check how many tablets the boy had taken, and why were they lying around.

Bobbieiris · 06/01/2025 15:59

This is ridiculous but might as well finish watching as I’ve committed to it now 😂 seems so unrealistic! I doubt the hospital would have given miles the other couples address so he could just turn up on the door step unannounced. And why is there no social worker involvement? And only one staff nurse in the NICU. It’s all a little silly

Middlemarch123 · 06/01/2025 16:42

Was planning to binge watch next weekend, just read the review in The Guardian, and probably won’t bother, they’ve ripped it to shreds!

Wallasey123 · 06/01/2025 16:50

I was discussing this with my friend at work today. Please don’t spoil it if true but her theory is that Lucy swapped the babies thinking hers wouldn’t make it (based on the bit where she said she was scared he wouldn’t in a flashback). I want to see what happens with her as I think she’s just a controlled / potentially abused wife but maybe there’s a villain arc for her? Maybe she’s the baddie and Miles is just a dick? Hope we see a bit more from their side / backstory
