Yet he clearly earns enough to pay for his flat, support his wife and child in Dubai, run an expensive car and book fancy hotels for his rendezvous with Cindy.

Jean said she'd been persuaded to combine her pension and her savings in one high interest account. Regardless of whether the pension was real or not, what savings can she have accrued? The family have endured so many financial crises over the years that everyone's last penny would have been needed.

The pension was part of the scam I think, Jean said she didn't remember having that pension but it must have been from when she worked before she had children. So they presumably then scammed her into putting that non-existent money plus 'all her other money' into the scam. Even if the pension was real, so what, she only found out it existed a week ago so she is no worse off. And if Jean had savings it's the first we've heard of it. They are all constantly skint. Complete non-event, she had nothing to be scammed out of!

I was 🙄 about the savings because it sounded so convenient to the story. They’re always going on about how short of money they are - don’t they have 12 kids to feed in that house?!

When Stacey was so skint she was doing Only Fans or whatever it was, Jean never piped up to offer her 'savings' did she😆

No way Jean had savings! They are the most skint people (but can still afford to be in the Vic most nights)

Do you think there is a "Write a week of EE scripts" lottery in the writers office. You can only win of you never watch Eastenders and therefore have no clue about storylines

Hi been reading, but not contributing till now. I agree with the nonsense of this story line. Where did Jean get £12000? Even if it was from a pension from way back, what sort of job did she have? Likely to be one on a basic wage in an unprofessional job. Pensions were not always given in every job until the law changed.
When Jean first appeared years ago, as Stacy’s mum, she was living on benefits in a rented flat trying to get her Bi polar condition under control.

Jean had a letter in her maiden name about the pension , so that made her think it was real, but we are not sure if it is or not now or how they persuaded her to part with the rest of her money.
I didn't think that Jean worked much as she had an abusive husband and two children young and her bi polar stopped her doing much
She was living hand to mouth at one point when Stacey found her that time. Harvey once said she couldn't work at her cleaning job full time because of her condition.
However, this pension she had from her younger years at work was 12k or something.

Ha ha! I wish they'd give us a chance to script a storyline. I'd love that.

As I mentioned below, the inheritance from Daniel who died all went into the Slater pot to stop them being evicted by Nish. Suki did stop this from happening I think ( after she paid up ) but the rent must be a lot each month even so. Not to mention the food bill.

I have no idea how any of them pay rent on their flats/ houses. Those that own houses and rent them out don’t seem to work much and must have millions to buy the houses. People I know who have small businesses such as cafes, hair salons, shops etc certainly aren’t in the position to swan about all day in the pub!

A few have inherited their houses ( Sonia springs to mind)
Jack owns a few flats and his house
Ian owns his place I think as does Phil
Many live above the pub!
The new Mitchell's own Grays old home
Slaters rent sukis place and I can't remember where Kat lives now

Martin could have inherited the house that Ian now lives in, but only on the condition that Martin dumped Sonia, which he didn’t want to do so Ian inherited it. That house - if it existed 😆 - is worth at least £1,000,000.

You rarely see any deliveries at these businesses or the plies of paperwork involved or anyone showing them the endless ID and paperwork you need in order to work when they are taken on to work that day.
So many things are unrealistic it's a long old list lol

I keep missing bits. Is Ruby poor now? She used to be rich, what happened to her money? I remember Jay swing her bank account once and saying she was phone number digits rich.

I hope when Jay finishes strictly he is giving some good stories, his character deserves a better life.

I was thinking it’s a bit implausible that she got scammed but then it’s Jean isn’t it so an easy target.

She must’ve lost her money somehow. Presumably she sold Ruby’s or lost the money from that sale somehow.

Ruby must have sold Ruby's on to Phil and Sharon at some stage ?

Ruby did briefly tell Stacey what happened, something about losing investments? It didn't sound very convincing so either she is lying or it's the usual EastEnders convenient financial twaddle (see also Jean's savings)🙃

Just to go off topic...

I've been thinking about the funeral scenes that have been filmed alongside the 'ghosts' appearing from the past...

And wondering if they're going to do a Christmas carol type story with Linda carter where she (in her drunken state) imagines life if she continues drinking (hence funeral scenes) and this prompts her to finally give up the booze? She could see the ghost of Keanu too.

I don't think for a minute that Linda carter is being killed off but filming her funeral had to serve a purpose as it'd be expensive to film? Wondering if it would be a ghostly glimpse of a future yet to come....

Maybe Ruby had to pay protection money in prison - she has no other family and has to protect Roman so would've been desperate to keep her head down.
Chrissie seemed to have the who;e wing sewed up , wouldn't put it past her to have a Protection Racket Side Hustle

Surely Chrissie will re surface (maybe as the owner of Peggys)

Though none of them - Chrissie, Nicola , Sharon or Ruby can be Licencees as they'll all been in prison.(Or they could run it as an Alcohol Free Bar ...........or a BYOB)

I'm not sure if he has a license? Doesn't it take ages to qualify and apply for one ? She was ordering him around the other day , but the bar isn't open still. I thought he run the Arches?
Genuinely confused by most of that or how it works with nightclubs and licenses and things
Someone once explained it all regarding pubs , but it sounded complicated ( lots of rules to follow )
