Just binge-watched S3. What a ride!

Anyone else had a look yet?

I found this episode quite tedious. It was definitely the worst of the entire series. The scene in Paris with the young women entertaining the rich old men was hard to watch, particularly after all the revelations about Epstein. I am now at the stage where I would like to see Yasmin get a proper comeuppance.

sunbum · 02/03/2026 13:26

Hmmmmm. Not sure what to think. I think Kwabena and Sweetpea (and maybe Kenny) are the only characters you would really want to know in RL - though bit of Harper redemption at the end?

BlanklyMyDear · 02/03/2026 15:25

Wow … I’m going to be feeling bereft for a long time.

Maybe I’ll find fault, on reflection - but on a first viewing it looked pretty epic.

I am so in awe of the writers.

Back21970 · 02/03/2026 17:34

I was a bit disappointed by the final episode - maybe expecting too much given how good the series has generally been.

Brooklyn70 · 02/03/2026 17:40

i was disappointed too, kept glancing at how much time there was left and thinking, when’s something going to happen?

i was also confused as to how long it had been from the last episode to the beginning of this one.

did a new audit take place and that’s how it all unraveled to the public?

it’s just that Kwanema made a comment about Harper and it sounded like she had been partying the night before and thought it might be when she went out with Yasmine at the end of the previous episode.

Brooklyn70 · 02/03/2026 17:44

by the way, Yas was all kinds of evil on this episode, so cold and heartless, i still can’t believe she has taken zero responsibility for convincing/pushing Henry to take the Tender job.

did she really invite Harper to Paris just so that she would be insulted by the Nazi mother and son?

JSMill · 02/03/2026 17:46

Yes I kept checking the time as well and wondering when it was going to pick up! I got it wrong about Henry. I was convinced his mental health issues would get the better of him in the end.

dapsnotplimsolls · 02/03/2026 18:51

That was dull. Disappointing. There wasn't even any decent music!

BlanklyMyDear · 02/03/2026 19:02

I loved the music! And Henry was a hero. Poor thing. I was very, very taken with Whitney in terms of pure hotness, but Henry really deserved a million hugs today.

dapsnotplimsolls · 02/03/2026 19:05

I thought they were going to chuck him in the lake at the end!

Yes! I wondered if that’s the writers wanted us to think.

Stoneyellow · 02/03/2026 20:50

I loved the ending, it just gets better and better, what a gem.

ItsOnlyHobnobs · 02/03/2026 21:31

I think the pacing in this episode wasn’t as good as how exceptional the rest of the series has been, but I still enjoyed it.

I liked the scene with Yasmin in her bathrobe alone, replaying the voicemail of her fathers. It humanises her, ultimately it’s a very true reality for a lot of people who are victims to become very damaged people, who seek solace in power plays and evil paths. Having evil done to you as a child, by those you should trust the most, she’s decided to go down the path of being the puppet master in her own story and not to be vulnerable again.

The abused becomes the abuser.

I think he can survive but only in the bosom of his family. The ankle tag will keep him there.

BlanklyMyDear · 02/03/2026 21:40

Wouldn’t it be great if S5 brought all the old core Pierpoint gang back together? Rob and Gus and Kenny and Rishi …

I don’t see how the vision can get any bigger after global fascism, so it might be nice to go back to a very focused and smaller scale story.

Though I’ll watch whatever they put on a screen.

Pierpointer · 02/03/2026 21:52

A neatly packaged, if a little dull end to the series compared to other episodes.

I was glad to see Harper be so fair to Sweetpea and Kwabena in their comp. I didn’t doubt it but I know plenty of people thought she’d screw them over.

Yas and Harper both looked beautiful in Paris. Harper’s dress was absolutely stunning. Then Yas, I think she is prettier with her hair tied up. I was mesmerised by her beauty with all those close ups of her in conversation with Harper that I almost forgot she was being so awful!

I'm glad they didn't!

CurrentHun · 02/03/2026 22:16

It was great! I miss this series already. Might have to rewatch from the start. The Maxwell plot twist wasn’t what I expected to happen.

The Paris hotel setting was correct for its nazi collaboration era historical overtones. I thought Yas had thought the aristocratic nazis were awful after the castle stay, though. I can’t work out if launching a blackmail business and targeting all the rich nazi sympathisers at the dinner was about maybe justifying that as a strange kind of justice? or if she was just on board professionally with her PR for the politician and that being let into his circle for fundraising had given her an in? or if she was actually into this sinister new politics.

Living off blackmail seems a mighty dangerous scheme to pull off with just Hayley in her corner, who seems way more worldly wise than Yas. Is Hayley the real power then? What’s in this for Hayley? Wasn’t Hayley a plant at Tender by the Whitney/state forces shadowy figures?
in that strange scene when Yas gave away her dress and said ‘see Paris and die’ to Hayley, I couldn’t work out if Hayley was being given a threat.

These are plot threads maybe we shouldn’t pull on but I thought if Yas is launching a blackmail operation then she would need some heavies of some kind to back her up. She’d be going up against some very powerful men. So is Hayley, with her connections, the key to that?

Same query on the Henry plot line. I didn’t expect Henry to suddenly wave his old school tie in Whitney’s face pull rank like that. Where did that entitled sense of backbone come from at the very last minute?

Given Henry’s suspicions of state actor involvement wouldn’t he have been more sensible to be absolutely terrified of Whitney? How come Whitney didn’t just kidnap him in the PJ? He easily could have done. It was a risk to let Henry go because he’d already told Henry what the plan was.

KillingMeDeftIy · 02/03/2026 23:03

Who caught the blink and you'll miss it shot of Whitney at the end, just before the credits rolled? Apparently it was originally a scene set in a gay club that ended with him staring into a glory hole but they decided to just keep the last bit as a glimpse.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 02/03/2026 23:46

That was a terrifyingly realistic episode I fear 😳 . Once it's all stripped back, you can't unsee it.

There are no coincidences.

dapsnotplimsolls · 03/03/2026 00:02

I'm surprised the Nazis were happy to work with Yas - she's not exactly Aryan!

dapsnotplimsolls · 03/03/2026 02:08

Ok, I might re-think this when I've re-watched this series but at the moment my ranking is:

  1. Series 1
  2. Series 3
  3. Series 4
  4. Series 2

The nature of these kind of creatures on the far right is their rampant hypocrisy as well as double standards.

BlanklyMyDear · 03/03/2026 06:22

Good point about the Paris hotel, @CurrentHun.

But Yasmin wasn’t being ‘let into’ Sebastian’s circle - she was fashioning one for him. Gathered from the ragged ends of the Tender support network.

Yasmin didn’t give away one of her own dresses to Hayley. She took Hayley shopping in Paris and bought the dress at Galvan for her. (I’ve always understood Galvan to be a UK brand, so it seemed an interesting choice.) Was it this one? (Comparatively very cheap if so.)

I’m sure the Mucks would tell you that Henry’s rediscovery of his backbone came from centuries of breeding!
