Just binge-watched S3. What a ride!

Anyone else had a look yet?

Only watched 2 episodes of Series 3 so far but the vicarious stress and 😧level is as off the scale as before.

Careful, there be spoilers 'ere!

pasta · 06/10/2024 19:33

It was so so good. I really recommend watching the beginning of the first episode again - the scenes on the yacht seem very different when you know what happened

Jesus, I've just got to the end and my heart is breaking for Yas. I so wanted a happy ending for her and Robert (even though it was never happening) and for her to finally find some peace.

I can't remember anything about series 1 now (and who was Nicole?) so am going to have to go back to the beginning...

Nicole expected ... services in return for her investment. First with Harper then Robert.

Of course. She was grim.

I also watched US streaming so was subjected to Yas' dads erect penis several times (there were multiple flashbacks). Im quite shocked it wasn't shown on BBC, though you were spared, as i think it was pretty integral to what happened and why she was so repulsed when he hugged her and was still hard and so froze and let him jump off.

I also think Yas didn't want to ever have to stay in a hotel again where the kettle didn't work ... or end up like the woman in the car with the screaming kids in the back. She wanted to protect herself and live a life of luxury. Would she have gone to NY with Robert?

That scene was very similar to the soprano's moment when Christopher decides to betray Adrianna. He can’t face normal life with a wife and kids.

Tinybigtanya · 07/10/2024 08:35

I think Yasmin has more heartache coming given Henry's remark about what he did with the homeless guys under the bridge in London. It was quite a subtle remark spoken in a whisper.

pasta · 07/10/2024 08:43

Poor Yas. The Lord Norton scene when he told her that none of it was her fault was completely brilliant. No one had told her that before and yet his motives were so mixed. So many layers

I'm so glad I didn't have time see that 🤢
What a horrible, horrible man. No wonder she was so fucked up on so many levels. She is such a brilliant, flawed character.

I thought the final episode was a masterpiece, and showed so much more humanity than many other parts of the series. Although I'm not entirely sure why Diana's brains needed to be blown out, other than for shock value

I imagined Henry dying early from something horrible he'd contracted that night, and Yas eventually finding happiness with Robert once he's made his multi-millions (or that wouldn't matter because she'll have Henry's fortune). I'm not giving up on them yet!

BlanklyMyDear · 07/10/2024 16:21

Henry dying would be tremendously convenient! Though I hope Yasmin would have taken care to erm … secure the future of the Muck dynasty (and her own position in it) in a timely manner.

<Imagines tiny Spearing being born heir to everything Muck>

pasta · 07/10/2024 16:29

I don't think Yas and Robert were a great love story particularly. I thought they were friends really, I can't see their relationship ever working.

BlanklyMyDear · 07/10/2024 16:55

I don’t think they need a sustained romantic relationship for a satisfying story - but if the writers allowed little Roberta Muck to come into existence that would really be A Thing.

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/10/2024 17:11

I wondered if Yas might have got pregnant from the bench shag! I'd definitely have insisted on a lot of testing after the shared needle confession.

I wondered that - to put the fear of God into Rishi to make him pay them back? I wonder if he fled or reported it?

dapsnotplimsolls · 06/10/2024 18:17

I agree about the shocking deaths and ... they killed/sacked Kenny!

They killed Kenny?

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/10/2024 18:39

muzEqy · 07/10/2024 18:30

They killed Kenny?

No, South Park reference!

BlanklyMyDear · 07/10/2024 18:39

Don’t worry - he survived!

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/10/2024 18:40

I was thinking about it on the way home - Kenny seems to be the only character who's tried to be a better person.

BigSkies2022 · 07/10/2024 18:49

I thought episode 4 White Mischief was one of the most brilliant hours of TV drama I've seen in long while. Rishi and Diana are fantastic. Anyone reminded of Uncut Gems, with Adam Sandler? The writing is so smart - "you're a chauvinist, not a misogynist. I did a podcast on the difference.' I was shocked at Diana's end. I suppose it would have been a merciful release for Rishi, but then Vinay would not have got his money back, ever. Poor Rishi, he had a chance at redemption.

Frenchdressing · 07/10/2024 22:31

I didn’t like series 3. It was just too crazy.

amprev · 09/10/2024 21:49

I found the financial jargon more puzzling than in previous series but despite not really understanding these scenes, it’s somehow still possible to follow what’s happening, albeit without detail.

I think Robert smiled knowingly as he drove away at the end, at the memory of Yasmin telling him that she didn’t think she had ever loved anyone, and then she told him she loved him on the bench, and he knew and she knew that was genuine. I think he loved her too but knew that she would need to return to the sort of life she has always had, with immense wealth.

I can’t help but think she is pregnant with him though because of the line about should he come inside her - not fully sure why it would be in there otherwise.

I was glad Harper wasnt as prevalent this series because I find the character completely unrelatable - she seems so implausible and I can’t get my head around a character like her achieving such success in the male dominated world of finance and banking - she seems too young and too rebellious to have forged the contacts she has. I’d love to believe such a character could exist though.

I think something horrendous had to happen to Rishi - it seemed like he’d got away with being pretty vile, so I was expecting something terrible to happen to him - hadn’t expected it to happen to his wife!

Looking forward to next series.

BlanklyMyDear · 09/10/2024 22:13

a character like her

’a diminutive [unspoken word] woman’ as Otto termed her. And then he encountered her brain. And she became ‘one of us’ to him.

That’s how she did it. Simply - brain.

dapsnotplimsolls · 09/10/2024 22:16

Harper's a great anti-hero.
