Just binge-watched S3. What a ride!

Anyone else had a look yet?

I loved it! Does anyone think Yaz maybe pregnant as wasn't drinking?

Also suspect something will happen with her and Sebastian.

I hope Hayley gets her comeuppance - how dare she call Harper 'bitch'!

KillingMeDeftIy · 03/03/2026 07:46

I did wonder about her and Sebastian but he seems very religious. Though that's not to say that he wouldn't ignore "thou shalt not commit adultery"!

I think the pacing in this episode wasn’t as good as how exceptional the rest of the series has been, but I still enjoyed it.

I liked the scene with Yasmin in her bathrobe alone, replaying the voicemail of her fathers. It humanises her, ultimately it’s a very true reality for a lot of people who are victims to become very damaged people, who seek solace in power plays and evil paths. Having evil done to you as a child, by those you should trust the most, she’s decided to go down the path of being the puppet master in her own story and not to be vulnerable again.

The abused becomes the abuser.

I thought for a minute she was going to touch herself, such was the screwed up dynamics with her father.

The final episode peaked early, I thought, with the scene in the plane with Whitney.

Frenchdressing · 03/03/2026 08:33

Whitney has been such a great character.

BlanklyMyDear · 03/03/2026 10:09

He totally has!

Re-posting the NYT article on his carefully chosen wardrobe:

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/18/style/industry-hbo-fashion.html?unlocked_article_code=1.OlA.AJbb.fT2YwCcfqxvz&smid=nytcore-ios-share

And, by comparison, I’m still shaking my head wryly over Jennifer Bevan’s studiedly drab and dull work wardrobe.

I read that and disagreed with it!

CurrentHun · 03/03/2026 16:06

I disagree as well. Feels like the tv critics have read each others reviews and are going with the pack. The ‘evidence’ for why they say this series is disappointing is very slim.

BlanklyMyDear · 03/03/2026 16:10

The Decider review is great, though.

I spent that scene terrified that she would start masturbating, glad it wasn't just me.

The Yas/Ghislaine parallels have been there all along right down to the yacht name. Even back in season 2 she was covering up sexual harassment. I can't tell whether she's just a full-on madam to nazis now, or if she thinks she can play both sides by getting kompromat on them? Sebastian showed his contempt for her fairly obviously. Whatever she decides to do will go badly, I'm sure, she doesn't have the range for any of this.

The finale felt less of a season 4 conclusion and more of a season 5 prologue. Chess pieces all in place. Harper's become as undeniable as she wanted but it looks like it feels rather empty for her.

gannett · 03/03/2026 16:52

Not sure what the Times piece's criticism even is. It's always been a nasty, nihilistic show.

If I have a criticism it's that the writers lifting so bodily from real-life stories (Wirecard obviously) feels a bit like not bothering to write their own plot. Not that I really care when it's done so well though.

BlanklyMyDear · 03/03/2026 17:07

Harper’s life does seem remarkably sad. Imagine not being able to give Eric his $10m back in person. And the only other person she seemed to have a true (if weird) connection with was Jesse Bloom.

God, this show is evil.

How is the thought of Eric ambling down that tree lined suburban street still prompting me to cry? How could they make me feel sorry for him. And how not to??

How indeed - it’s the sheer brilliance of it, isn’t it! We’re rooting for him whilst finding him utterly objectionable.

If Ken Leung doesn't start winning some best supporting actor awards then there's no justice in the world!

I think his character is very human and multidimensional. There’s huge vulnerability in him. He was truly horrified at his liaison with the 14 year old. He fell on his sword when others would have explained it away or made excuses….”I didn’t know how young she was” sort of thing.

Absolutely- he’s just amazing in this and convey so much without even speaking.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 04/03/2026 16:40

Eric was definitely was of the most humanistic ones at Pierpoint , like the way he took Harper under his wing in the first series, similar to the Scottish addict who looked after Robert - they were ruthless but also fatherly.

That’s odd- I posted a link to Harry Lawtey interviewing Ken Leung talking about his character in Industry, nothing too outrageous in there AFAIK..

Who caught the blink and you'll miss it shot of Whitney at the end, just before the credits rolled? Apparently it was originally a scene set in a gay club that ended with him staring into a glory hole but they decided to just keep the last bit as a glimpse.

I just rewound the end, and yes, I spotted it! I didn’t really understand the last scene with the air hostess asking if Harper wanted another gin and tonic. Seemed very loaded, but I didn’t get it?

The stewardess kept asking her, “are you done?” I think Harper heard that as an existential question.
