Just binge-watched S3. What a ride!

Anyone else had a look yet?

I watched it. The dog got me up early so I thought I should do something productive with my time!

sunbum · 09/02/2026 11:20

We better wait to discuss it until aired tonight I guess. I watched it on Friday as was released early on HBO because of the superbowl so am waiting to get your reviews!

Tinybigtanya · 09/02/2026 12:59

Great episode.

I don't think we have to wait to discuss it.

I agree. I thought it was an interesting episode because it centred around two, until now, minor characters. I don’t really understand what Tender are doing wrong though!

Tender are effectively using a finite sum of money that is has more than once, making it look like it is sweeping up strategically important business’ on different continents as a rapid expansion plan - indicative of a well-funded fintech firm. The reality is that these are sham transactions and the business’ ‘bought’ don’t exist. It is all smoke and mirrors and the wording of deals are carefully worded to avoid too much scrutiny. Off the back of this growth it is fraudulently presenting to the market a company on the rise which is driving up the share prices before the inevitable IPO… this can only happen because Whitney has deliberately hired compromised employees or ones who lack the depth of knowledge of the market to call him out or are just plain uncurious. The reality is that It is still just an average sized payment processing firm whose main clients remain in the grubby end of the market -eg facilitating payments for porn sites.

Bottom line, you’d go to jail for this.

Yeah its financial fraud, misrepresentng a companies assets and profits when obtaining funding and in advance of an IPO. Incidentally, wasnt that was Lumi was accused of at their IPO? I can't remember.

I'm not sure how likely it is that a small payment start up like Tender would go down this route rather than a steady build, or why a payment site would be able to become a bank - but then again, that's exactly what Wirecrad did I suppose!

JSMill · 09/02/2026 16:28

Ah ok! Thanks for the explanation. I have to say, I am finding Harper and Eric very annoying.

That’s why Tender is trying to buy the Austrian bank - so it can piggyback off its banking licence.

It’s another get-rich quick scheme for people like Whitney who think they are cleverer than everyone else…

I think they are two lost souls. They are addicted to the adrenaline of the financial markets. They have quite a lot in common in terms of relationships for instance, but probably wouldn’t see it that way themselves.

Amazing episode yesterday. I don’t understand the financials really but love the drama of it. Top notch writing and acting

KillingMeDeftIy · 10/02/2026 08:25

I never much cared for Sweetpea until yesterday. Miriam Petche put in an amazing performance.

Looking forward to it all kicking off in the finale next week!

tennissquare · 10/02/2026 08:31

3 more episodes to go! It ends on 2nd March.

KillingMeDeftIy · 10/02/2026 10:27

Oh! I thought it was only 6 eps per series. Glad to hear there's 8 as there's no way it can all be wrapped up in within an hour! This season really has been a standout, each episode has surpassed the previous one so far. It might even be the best season yet. HOW has it not been nominated for any Emmy awards?

tennissquare · 10/02/2026 10:37

Next week’s episode is called “Dear Henry”

Pierpointer · 10/02/2026 14:13

Great episode! I wasn’t loving this season as I was really feeling the loss of Pierpoint and Rob but that episode has definitely changed my view. I love Sweetpea and Kwabena.

dapsnotplimsolls · 10/02/2026 17:59

At the moment, I think S3 was better. Sweetpea is awesome.

Frenchdressing · 10/02/2026 19:00

I have a bit of a crush on both of them tbh

BlanklyMyDear · 10/02/2026 19:20

Who and who?

Frenchdressing · 10/02/2026 19:23

Sweetpea and Kwabena!

I really miss Rob. He was the only one who was a vaguely good person.

I have just caught up on 3 episodes in a row as I prefer to binge i think it's a dopamine thing and I can't believe the police actually handcuffed Rishi 🤭 . Do they really do that? I bet they accidently banged his head when they loaded him into the ambulance - diabolical work.

BlanklyMyDear · 12/02/2026 16:07

Do they really do that? Let’s not forget that in this country women in prison are chained to hospital beds whilst giving birth …

Buy I don’t suppose they police would have handcuffed Henry Muck
