Obviously we know her mum died but was she screwed over by her workplace then?

Walkingtheplank · 16/02/2025 02:37

I really don't understand whybthat episode was required.

They could at least have flagged it so we could watch something else.

No idea why the BBC think she's a character worth the spotlight.

FagsMagsandBags · 16/02/2025 03:14

I think this whole series, well hopefully not all, revolves around her and her seeming to self distruct. I think it was in the first episode after the too long break that started with her crying at the end of a pier which I think is where we're going to end up soon. I think last night's episode was showing us where she went off the rails after her mother's death and seeking solice in meaningless sex which put her midwife job at risk although she was also screwed over. Her whole time as an ed nurse has seen that spiralling and sex with creepy widow dad was never going to end well. I reckon it's all going to go well and truly tits up for her in the next couple of weeks.

Blah, blah, blah, I agree that she's not an interesting enough character to be putting front and centre. From the start of her time on the show the character has been self centered, often irritating and now she's caused issues for Dylan who's been through more than enough recently, so yeah, enough of Jodie. That said I hope she doesn't have a tragic ending. She's young and messed up and probably just needs some serious therapy.

Possibly she trained as a nurse then did further training to be a midwife.

My mum trained as a nurse, then midwifery but ended up as an A&E nurse (she's told me some horror stories of her time in one of the London hospitals, lets just say I never run for a train).

NorthernGirl1981 · 16/02/2025 08:39

Maybe the link was supposed to be centred more about her own experiences of being screwed over at work and being made to be the scapegoat for an adverse event, and how that was shaping her response to the whole Aaron situation - she didn’t want Dylan to be in a similar position and therefore wanted to do what she thought was right. I.e make the a statement supporting Dylan even though it risked her job because of Aaron’s threats, and also coming clean about her sleeping with Aaron even though that could mean losing her job too.

She was risking her career to ensure Dylan wouldn’t lose his job or his reputation as she know what it was like to lose everything if your colleagues don’t have your back.

That’s what I took from it anyway - that it was meant to show a personal growth and explain why Jodie has now found the courage to do the right thing now: because she knows the consequences (personal and professional) that comes of being made the scapegoat.

AnImaginaryCat · 16/02/2025 15:55

Henry was easy persuaded wasn't he? Less than a second after saying he couldn't, he was off to the nearest hotel.

I was glad it was dropped in conversations that they went to a hotel. I was wondering how he missed the dead body in the sitting room!

I think she actually is Scottish and does a london accent for ee

That'll be why it's so good, then 😃 I had no idea she was Scottish! She sure does make a convincing Cockney.

BlackBean2023 · 22/02/2025 14:40

I always watch on a Saturday morning so I've watched this weeks... won't spoil it but it was a good one!

FagsMagsandBags · 22/02/2025 21:06

Currently watching and it's definitely a good one.

LIZS · 22/02/2025 21:07

Siobhan is such a hypocrite, insisting on staying but Tariq can't.

LIZS · 22/02/2025 21:11

Sophia ia a cow!

FagsMagsandBags · 22/02/2025 21:15

I think it's probably for the best that they killed Richard off. It was going to cause too much of the wrong sort of drama if he'd stayed around. That was all mighty powerful.

Pastryapronsucks · 22/02/2025 21:18

Stevie (or her actor) is pregnant, I thought her face looked pregnant last week. I wonder if she will bow out for a while.

spiderlight · 22/02/2025 21:22

God, Rich's last words were brutal for Siobhan 😢

Decafflatteplease · 22/02/2025 21:25

That was a good episode. Glad Sophia's left think Dylan can do better!

Ouch for Siobhan, wonder if she'll tell Stevie?

LunaFortuna · 22/02/2025 21:28

Can someone tell me where Iain is, I’ve totally forgotten!

spiderlight · 22/02/2025 21:30

Iain fell off a quarry on a HEMS training exercise when a rope snapped - he was being noble and saving Stevie - and has been in hospital since.

Thanks. I remember him falling off but I thought he’d been back since then, you know the usual Casualty speedy recovery 😁

NorthernGnashers · 22/02/2025 21:37

Will Stevie ever be happy in love?
Also Dylan, will he ever have an honest, loving partner?

ThatsNotMyTeen · 22/02/2025 22:01

Oh it was so sad tonight

Glad Sophia is gone

spiderlight · 22/02/2025 22:22

Maybe he has been back, now that you mention it 🤔 In that case, I have no idea where he is now!

hoarahloux · 22/02/2025 22:28

Remember when this show used to have a special effects budget?

We'd have seen that plane crash in all its glory!

And really, Holby International Airport? Although now I mention it, I do remember an airport bombing at one point, with Mads Durrani and Adam Trueman. It's been the bus station for departures ever since...

daffodilandtulip · 22/02/2025 22:45

That was actually doing really well until they rammed a pointless Faith mini storyline in the middle of it. On the plus side, could we finally be seeing her demise?!

Glad to see Dylan is free for me again 🤭

Much as I didn't like that man and didn't want stevie to get with him, it was nice to see her happy for those two minutes. She needs a happily ever after.

Poor Siobhan! She won't get over those words easily.

purpleme12 · 22/02/2025 22:45

I hope this is Sophia leaving
