The actor who plays Zack said he gasped in shock when he saw some of the storylines in the run up to the 40th anniversary, particularly in relation to his character. I can’t imagine what they have in store for him as he has been invisible for months now.

Well there have been a few rumours about Martin dying at the 40th and him and Zach are best mates so that could be something

Just caught up .

That was like a French Farce with Cindy running over to the Pie Shop/Cindy taking David to their house/Cindy snogging Junior in the alley/Cindy running after David outside the pub/Cindy and Junior in the ladies .........I was half expecting when Cindy said "I'm just off to the Ladies" for Kathy to say "Yeah, me 'n'all" as I'm sure she's waiting for Cindy to expose herself for what she is and Ian to smell the coffee.

Tommy's punch was a WTF , I didn't see that coming !

Itisjustmyopinion · 10/10/2024 23:35

Whether it’s down that alley way, in the women’s toilet or in the little yard at Ian’s house before you go in the kitchen door I am surprised they have not been caught before now as it’s not like they are discreet

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 10/10/2024 23:58

No CCTV in Beales Eels either !

Shellingbynight · 11/10/2024 08:21

I really enjoyed David’s final episode. At least he did move the plot along, we had it confirmed that Cindy (obviously) was still in love with George. I would not have known Joe from a bale of hay if David had not said his name.

I may have to axe Freddie to death, he is such a huge annoyance. We will now have to suffer his ‘acting face’ when he listens to his oh so sensitive bird listening equipment. As if anyone would use that in the middle of London, bird song would be constantly drowned out by traffic!

I like Elaine, I like George. They do not fit together. He works far better with Cindy and I suspect he does have feelings for her, but he also knows that she is a living nightmare and would will inevitably hurt him again. And once he finds out about Junior, that really will be that.

the80sweregreat · 11/10/2024 09:19

I always thought that George and Cindy would have an affair when they first met up , but he seems to understand she will never change and happy with Elaine.
Agree it doesn't work that well with any of them though. The girls are just bit parts and Elaine wouldn't be his type ( in real life)
How Freddie lives is beyond me as he isn't working at the moment. Unless he is planning on becoming a bird watcher ' influencer' of some kind. Get the kids involved!

the80sweregreat · 11/10/2024 09:21

I remember Joe having meltdowns and he once barricaded himself in the house. He had a split personality
Lorraine wicks ( mum) had an affair with Grant
She was from Bolton originally.

Joe also kept Aunt Nellies dead cat under his bed and covered the windows in tinfoil .

Shellingbynight · 11/10/2024 10:22

I remember the tinfoil on the windows!
His 'mum' now turns up from time to time someone's mum on Corrie.

How connected is schizophrenia to Bianca's current storyline?

It's frustrating ATM with EastEnders because even though I've been watching for years, it seems that you have to keep referring to EastEnders wiki for backstories. Now this is good in terms of making the characters more three dimensional however in terms of being a viewer it can make it more difficult to understand wtf is going on. It's not a way to increase viewers and it's already a concern that EastEnders viewing figures are on the slide potentially jeapardising it's future despite the BBC spunking so much money on the new set.

Joe's story line was about how his behaviour became increasingly erratic. That's something they are trying to push with Bianca so that you are asking is she depressed, does she have bipolar, is she schizophrenic or does she have ADHD?

Or is the real story going to be that people with a history of mental health problems are routinely dismissed and not listened too because it's easier to ignore what's starring you in the face and to smear someone as 'just being crazy' which in turn leads them to have a build up of frustration and subsequent breakdown because others have constantly gaslight them and tried to silence them because they don't want to listen?

The storyline is making me feel very uncomfortable.

Shellingbynight · 11/10/2024 10:56

The whole "Bianca behaving oddly" storyline is a total mess. Everyone on the Square - even Birdman Freddie - has had a pop at diagnosing her. I'll have a go too - peri/menopause.

the80sweregreat · 11/10/2024 11:10

She is probably peri or going through the menopause, but mostly her behavior is because her half sister is in custody for something she didn't do and she knows she is innocent.
She's always been a fiery one and can be difficult, but this seems justified! Everyone else thinks it's ADHD / depression and not listening.
She hasn't any evidence Reiss killed her though , even Debbie's parents have gone away again and not pursuing it ( seems that way ) so people are not on her side.
It's at a kind of cross roads now ( until Sonia reappears I suppose and they have the trial!)
Or Reiss does something else

Shellingbynight · 11/10/2024 11:22

I agree @the80sweregreat
She is behaving like Bianca always does but slightly amped up, and with good reason. She mentioned trying to kiss Martin but at that point she had downed half a bottle of vodka which would account for odd behaviour!

the80sweregreat · 11/10/2024 11:30

Bianca always has been impulsive by her Bert nature.
Not everyone with ADHD is like this , but they are kind of saying it's a trait and she should rein it in! Considering most of the ones who don't have any kind of diagnosis are willing to sleep around and have affairs with just about anyone , even their relatives , this is seen as 'normal behavior ' of course 😆

Shellingbynight · 11/10/2024 11:57

David seemed to be having some trouble 'reining it in' for a lot of yesterday's episode!

Itisjustmyopinion · 11/10/2024 14:23

I enjoyed the David blast from the past episodes this week so much more than Christie’s last month.

I am liking all the trips down memory lane and our whattsapp group chat went off when Joe appeared on screen. As teens in the 90s Paul Nichols and his curtains (hairstyle not drapes) was a regular talking point in the common room 😊

Autumnowl · 11/10/2024 14:33

Yeah I enjoyed the David episodes rather than the Chrissie ones ,really didn't enjoy the prison scenes, like prisoner cell block h from back in day

We used to love Paul Nicholls back in the day. My first boyfriend was in the same mould. Blush

İ watched him a few years ago when his episodes were on classic EastEnders and I absolutely loved that era. I was majorly crushing on him too, even though he was supposed to be a teen in it. Would have been nice to have seen him with Sarah Hills, his then girlfriend as someone said it gets mentioned some years later that they ended up back together.

Shellingbynight · 11/10/2024 17:56

Joe was very handsome but I didn't recognise him on the call, it's so long ago (and no curtains!)

Wasn't Sarah a bit drippy? I remember what she looked like, but not much about what she was like.

I agree I preferred the David episode to the Chrissie ones. David was properly immersed in Square with loads of interactions (and he had some great lines) whereas Chrissie and Sharon were stuck in a cell which really limited it.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 11/10/2024 18:28

Sarah got involved in a cult didnt she? But then did the ‘pastor’ or whatever was sleeping with all the women?

i think she was engaged to Maffew Rose too

Autumnowl · 11/10/2024 18:31

I'm watching all the old episodes at the minute, Stacey has just got pregnant age 19 to Bradley,.can't remember if she keeps the baby or not ,and Martin and Sonya have just got Rebecca back as her adopted parents died .

The actor who played Joe ,is in a series on itv ,called the bay.
He's very handsome, aged like a fine wine ,I was watching it for ages thinking he looked familiar, but I couldn't place him ..

Oh yeah I had forgotten all those. It was only a couple of years ago when I was watching all these stories, but I've packed in like 10 years of Eastenders into 4 years of watching, so it all becomes a blur!

I liked Sarah, she was very vocal about her beliefs etc, even when they did lead her astray a bit, but once she got out of the cult she was very grounded and self assured in the end, and kept her belief, despite the horrible pastor. I think she was only engaged to Matthew Rose because he wanted to sleep with her, and she wouldn't because of her beliefs, so he produced a ring or something. Once she found out, she dumped him. But then she eventually binned her beliefs on sex before marriage for Joe (but who could blame her for that one 😂).

I particularly liked the episodes where her and her brother and their mates all went to Brighton for a weekend, and her brother's horrible drug dealer friend spiked her drink and she collapsed. Tiffany Raymond and Bianca were on the beach talking about it and one of them said 'She's part of the God squad, I'm surprised he didn't burst into flames for that'. Such good writing back then.
