@the80sweregreat Jack called in a favour to have his background checked out. So now Penny is bricking it. I hope this ends her 'devious' plan as I'm already fed up with it

Tommy story ramping up with the return of Alfie!

I really dislike Avani but I felt so sorry for her today. And Action Ravi pumped up.... 🥰

the80sweregreat · 21/10/2024 14:16

Ahh, missed that about Jack etc. agree that it is boring
Poor Avani ( I do spell her name wrong sometimes, senior moment, nothing personal there !) not sure where I get avida spelling from ..
It was horrible
Hopefully Mason will disappear now ;(

the80sweregreat · 21/10/2024 17:11

Bit random with Linda just appearing from nowhere today ! At least she mentioned last Christmas to Suki and looks worried still. Even though everyone else seems to have moved on.
She was very astute telling Suki to beware Nish and what his up to.
Glad that Ravi has a storyline at last, but doing that to Barney was harsh :(
( especially as we know his innocent)

usernother · 21/10/2024 17:47

I don't think anyone Avani's age (I mean the age she's playing, not her actual age) watches Eastenders. But I wish they did, because what happened with her today is a good lesson for teenage schoolgirls to watch.

I agree !

Shellingbynight · 21/10/2024 22:13

It was nice to see Linda sober and contributing to other plots.

I am not really on board for the Tommy plot. It’s just quite grim and I don’t know where they’re going with it.

Actually a lot of it is quite grim. I don’t want to see Ravi hanging Barney over a bridge, it didn’t strike me as something he'd do in full view of the residents, it just seemed a convenient high profile way of striking up a war with Teddy.

The worst plot though is Penny plus Harry. I can't stand the sight of either of them.

the80sweregreat · 22/10/2024 06:51

It is a shame about Tommy and I do agree I don't know where they going with it
I hope nobody ends up dead.
Hopefully Alfie will bring a bit of sunshine to the shop , but knowing him he'll mess it up or start a scam with the nuggets! Shops don't do ' BOGOF ' deals anymore do they !!
Barney doesn't deserve this :(
Avani needs to own this and fess up about Mason etc.

Shellingbynight · 22/10/2024 08:06

Yes I wouldn't mind seeing Ravi hang Mason over a bridge 😉

I like the new feud storyline! Hopefully it will be more interesting than all the plots that have been dragging along.
I feel so sorry for Bert and Ernie. Kat prides herself on being a good mum but by letting Tommy bully everyone in the family she isn’t helping any of them. The whole family needs an intervention. Tommy used to be really sweet, I remember when he found Scarlett and how kind they were to each other. He needs a project to teach him how to control his emotions and learn empathy and use his power to protect, not harm. But a lot of his role models have anger management problems. Maybe Jean could help.

Viewer23 · 22/10/2024 08:22

I wonder if this new feud means that Alfie will lose his new job because something happens with the minute mart.

Shellingbynight · 22/10/2024 08:28

There are photos of the Minute Mart burnt out, and given the feud it looks like the work of Jumpers. Actually I don't think Jumpers would ever get his hands dirty, so Harry (such a nice lad).

You're right there are few good male role models on the square, I am struggling to think of one. Maybe Zack or George.

CelestialNexus · 22/10/2024 09:36

"Ravi - its the call centre, come quick"

Whats actually happened with the call centre?

"Ravi - its the call centre, its on fire, come quick"

I thought they did the escalation of Tommy well, and I particularly like Kat getting the twins out to safety

the80sweregreat · 22/10/2024 10:24

Alfie is a bit of an anti hero as his done lots of dodgy capers, but he'd never ( intentionally) hurt anyone and loves his boys.
I agree that none of the men are particularly good role models though. Zac mentioned once that he pays maintenance for Dolly , but even he has had his moments of not being that great.
They are all really flawed

the80sweregreat · 22/10/2024 10:31

Next week is all Nish and the six billed as ' Halloween horror ' in my tv guide
He works out that it was Denise who hit him Christmas night etc

the80sweregreat · 22/10/2024 10:34

Harry checking out Avani yesterday gave me the ick ( as they say on mumsnet ) he was with penny at the time too.
Hopefully his mum will show up and he'll have to go out of it for some reason !
Leave the arches to a proper mechanic

Shellingbynight · 22/10/2024 10:36

I hope no one needs their car fixed at the moment if all they have to rely on is Harry.

I also hope next week is the end of Nish. Hopefully he expires before he can do any more damage.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 22/10/2024 10:57

I hope Nish is gone soon, very soon.

and do any of us even care about The Six any more / ever ?

the80sweregreat · 22/10/2024 11:03

I thought the six story had more or less finished, but seems it's running on a bit.
Sonia wasn't mentioned for next week, so that will probably be a Christmas time thing I suppose.

the80sweregreat · 22/10/2024 11:05

I do want some kind of justice for Ken though
They did all get away with his murder cover up , even if it was self defense in Linda's case ( manslaughter?)
I liked Keanu.

the80sweregreat · 22/10/2024 11:09

Tommy is out of control :(
So sad

Southeastdweller · 22/10/2024 13:46

I’m still a little bit interested in The Six and agree I’d like some justice for Keanu who didn’t deserve to die. I’d like Linda to go to jail, but it seems she’s to be killed off. I see DCI Arthurs gets involved again in the case next week.

the80sweregreat · 22/10/2024 14:01

I'll be sad to see Linda go, but even the actors must get fed up with storylines at times.
Hard if it's not what they want to happen though of course, as it is a regular income for them.

Southeastdweller · 22/10/2024 16:01

A regular income and a big one. I read an interview ages ago with Kellie Bright in which she implied she’s her family’s breadwinner, so I don’t think she’s quit but who knows yet for sure. I suppose they put her character into a corner the minute she was chosen to be Keanu’s killer, she was never going to be in the square for years afterwards without paying for her crime, it’s just not a soap thing,

OP posts:
the80sweregreat · 22/10/2024 16:32

They really messed up the Linda / Mick dynamic by her drinking and her short affair with Max.
It's sad as they were seen as so solid at first and happy. I know that DD wanted to leave , but maybe because they just made the pair of them too miserable and his romance with Janine was too much! No wonder he was fed up.

thinking about it, Zack and George would be good people to help Tommy. Zack previously struggled with anger management and learnt from it, and George is older and wiser. George is also friends with Phil so perhaps he would be well placed to talk to Tommy.
