we don't have a Bake Off 2024 start date, but last year's series returned to our screens on Tuesday 26 September 2023, so we can expect to see series 15 in the Autumn too.

BakedBeansforabrain · 07/09/2024 17:49

On Friday, September 6, Bake Off teased the upcoming series with a new animated trailer. Although the trailer didn't include an exact date for the premiere, it's expected to start on Tuesday, September 24, in the UK and Friday, September 27, in the US.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 08/09/2024 14:39

I swear it gets later every year
Used to be August then early September now it's practically October
Need my bake off fix 😂😂

Confirmed start date

The show will return to screens on Tuesday, September 24 at 8pm with a new host of amateur bakers ready to show off their skills.

GetSetFake · 11/09/2024 18:03

New trailer out and date announced today. Starts Tuesday 24th September at 8pm. No change to judges or presenters.

There is a slightly trippy animated trailer:

@Hobnobswantshernameback you're right, it used to be August on BBC. It moved to September with C4 and has been late September for a few years now.

I'm excited, enjoyed it with Alison last year and looking forward to another series.

Yay, I love Noel and Alison together!
This is just what I need as the nights start to get darker Smile

I think this may be the year I can no longer put up with Noel and give it a miss. Every other presenter has been nice, but I don't like how he tries to weird out or distract the contestants at important moments. Shame, as I will miss the bakes.

ChessieFL · 12/09/2024 06:53

Looking forward to Bake Off coming back!

I'm feeling like this too. If he wasn't back I think I'd definitely watch again but I'm wavering.

Doesn't help I've rapidly gone off Paul and his ego.The level of awe built up around his handshake has got ridiculous.

if we could hang on in there for the Matt and Noel years, I'm sure we can cope with Noel diluted by Alison.

I'm no longer nostalgic for Sandy after she totally rubbished the show in an interview last year.

“I was literally standing there watching meringues dry and thinking, ‘Oh my God, my brain is atrophying’,”

I get it - she's an intelligent woman and baking is clearly not her thing. But I think you can be an intelligent woman and still love baking. And actually most of their role is about empathising with the contestants and creating warmth and connection. It felt very dismissive of the show, the contestants and the fans.

Mel and Sue though - the absolute dream team. Cared about the contestants, certainly seemed to understand the low key drama of a baking competition. Alison has brought some of that vibe back, such an improvement.

Paul has always had an overinflated opinion of himself, no change there. But I've been hooked since the first series, I'm going nowhere!

Hobnobswantshernameback · 13/09/2024 17:28

I am beyond excited
Hoping for more of a back to basics approach like last year and less massaging Paul's enormous ego
Fuck off with that hand shake nonsense

I really liked Alison last year and that the bakes were back to recognisable favourites.
I can't for the life of me remember any of the contestants though.
Hope this years is good fun.

ApolloandDaphne · 18/09/2024 08:20

I love bake off and am looking forward to the 2024 series.

PrincessScarlett · 18/09/2024 08:52

Alison was a breath of fresh air last year. Looking forward to her and Noel presenting this year.

While we eagerly await next Tuesday, has anyone else got any favourite Bake Off related sites or groups they want to share?

I'm in this facebook group which picks one challenge a week to bake along with. They are US based though, and very strict about no spoilers until a week after the programme airs there on the Friday after our Tuesday.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/GreatBritishBakingShowBakeAlong/

I am also a huge fan of this podcast. I love ex-contestants Howard, Jane and Dan's take on each episode and it usually comes out the day after the show:
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-bake-down-bake-off-reviewed/id1476738421

Then if I want even more podcast analysis I go to:
https://podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/a-date-with-the-bake/id1480067454

Katy and Kimberley had a very popular US based true crime podcast but were also Bake Off fans, hence "A Date With The Bake". Very listenable, though they sometimes speculate about things that would be obvious to a UK viewer and perhaps could have been sorted with a quick google.

And if you like your Bake Off inuendo developed to the highest (or maybe lowest) level by two delightful gay men, then the Sticky Bun Boys are the ones for you:

What have I missed? Anyone else got a favourite group,.blog or podcast?

I will be having blackberry and apple pie to accompany my viewing.
I'm rooting for the farmer.
I'm hoping for delicious recognisable bakes and a few disasters that make me laugh rather than cry.

GetSetFake · 24/09/2024 10:07

I bake along so I'm hoping for lovely challenges that give me ideas for great bakes. Plus have warmed to Noel reading that he enjoys supporting the contestants and that's much more important than the humour. So hoping between him and Alison they bring the best out of the contestants. Also hoping Paul is not stomping around with a face like thunder this series - he was a bit better last year but 2022 he was so miserable it was almost unwatchable.
Very excited.

Flossiecotton · 24/09/2024 14:13

I just hope there are no ‘personalities’ among the contestants. Just bake, not show off your quirky life style.

Surely the personalities are what makes it? Otherwise we'd just watch pure baking programmes, which I actually find quite dull.

And there will almost certainly be one or two annoyingly zany or quirky ones, because that's how Love Productions put it together. I often find the ones that annoy me at first grow on me over the weeks.

FawnDrench · 24/09/2024 15:59

I believe they have changed the format and "procedure"of the signature bake - no longer having a recipe but seeing a visual representation of the desired bake prior to attempting to bake it apparently.

jay55 · 24/09/2024 16:47

Oooo so the opposite to before. I like that idea.
