Loved the duck.

If I watch next week probably on catch up, just too many breaks. Till next week.

PepsiMaxi · 24/09/2024 21:43

Looks like there are some good bakers this year.

longtompot · 24/09/2024 23:19

Glad they didn't send anyone home this week. They shouldn't for the first week anyway imo. But I think star baker was given to the wrong one. It should have been the duck as that was amazing and they liked the flavour.

JemimaTab · 25/09/2024 03:25

I'm a bit behind (watching on catch-up), but that Barbie themed intro was atrocious. Not to mention outdated.

HighPrecisionGhosts · 24/09/2024 21:27

WHAT....

Sorry but did John win that because of his jeans???

I don't think so...
The duck was supreme.

Do you have a theory about why he won then?

hopeishere · 25/09/2024 07:21

The duck was great but I guess they have to take flavour and all the bakes into account.

The farmer guy was annoying - over the top with all the tears and loudness.

The woman who made the shoe, as Paul said her first cake was something from a 70s bakery!!

Unfortunate that they had to put their coats on it was so cold.

No. Just thought the duck was way superior to the jeans cake.

But do you think it was the cocktail flavoured filling that swayed our Pru????

Ha ha, she does like her little bit of booze.

I really liked the farmer, he was full on but quite self deprecating. He was definitely in the relegation zone, glad he got another week.

Hello all..
Late joining in this year !
Is the farmer guy the sewing machine chap ?

bizzey · 25/09/2024 08:30

These cakes they made this time were very memorable!
I think they should all be named after their cakes till we get to remember their names 🤣

mondaytosunday · 25/09/2024 08:31

@oObyeOo goodness no hated Mel and Sue! Noel and Sandi were a good combo and Noel and Matt too, Allison is fine but is too much of a 'big personality' and though they seem to have a good time together they are very different.
Battenberg is one of my favourite cakes so I enjoyed watching that. I thought the illusion cake was a big ask so early on.
I predict Hazel will be the first to go.

Choccyp1g · 25/09/2024 08:31

For about 10 seconds at the beginning, they were showing the contestants names like subtitles when they were talking. They should do that until at least week 6.

No the farmer did the books.

Hobnobswantshernameback · 25/09/2024 09:42

Well i enjoyed that
Wonder if they will eliminate two in future weeks
odd for someone to only do one challenge and be unwell
Maybe he had hypothermia 🥶😂

Definitely

AnImaginaryCat · 25/09/2024 12:29

Just caught up (yes I caved and watched- Paul and Noel predictably irksome!)

Quite like the contestants except for Pink Hat.

murasaki · 25/09/2024 13:04

I found pink hat v annoying but his bag cake did look impressive from the outside. Duck should have won, it was very impressive, actually looked fluffy.

I think he’s a grower. (No pun intended!)

Joolsin · 25/09/2024 21:45

I liked John and Nelly the Slovakian lady. Mike very very very annoying - as someone said in work today "I've no problem with farmers, no problem with gay farmers, but I draw the line at over-performative gay farmers"!! 😁

I'm finding the hate for camp/gay performativity a bit baffling to be honest. It's such a part of gay culture, surely if you've ever hung out or even worked with gay men, you've come across it before? Obviously not all gay men are like that, but it's pretty mainstream. Can be fun, can be annoying but I didn't see anything very objectionable last night. So I do wonder if it's a different version of "I don't mind them being gay but why do they have to rub my nose in it".

AnImaginaryCat · 26/09/2024 05:24

I feel like I missed something. Was there performative campness? Don't even recall the Farmer being Vaguely Camp just know he's gay because we were shown his partner and he was a man.

(I'll be honest I wasn't giving it my full attention as I was on catch up and doing a mundane task at the same time.)

Only time I eye rolled at a contestant's behaviour was when Pink Hat said about taking Paul's car wheels. Dont know if that sort of behaviour has a specific name so I'll go with Performative Wide Boy!

ApolloandDaphne · 26/09/2024 06:50

I watched it last night with DD2. We adored the duck.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 26/09/2024 07:07

a more annoying group of bakers than I remember from past years. Maybe they’ll settle down.

Yes! Performative wide boy MUCH more annoying than performative gay farmer. 😂
