I'm just halfway through the first episode and was dying to discuss it!

These participants are not what I was expecting at all. They actually sound a lot more interesting than most reality TV fodder.

Watching ep5 of UK series.
I don't like Catherine at all. She seems very fake. I'm not overjoyed that Nicole and Beniah got together. He should've told her to piss off after the way she ignored what he told her about Sam. I really like Jasmine. I worry for Demi. I think Ollie thinks she's punching, when it's actually the other way round. Loving this series!

Yeah, the Benaiah thing is nuts. Tbf to her, she explained it well, and actually she's right in that she pretty much only backed off Ben because he wasn't emotionally available. But, yeah, if i were him I'd be saying "so I was second choice to a loser who I'd warned you about?!"
Yikes.

Caroline reminds me of someone but I can't pinpoint who. Probably someone from MAFS.

Freddie is a total sweetheart.

Bobby is like Lewis Hamilton's wee brother.

Just watched the first new episode and I dislike Ollie so much. I don’t think Cat was eyeing him the way he does.
How can you look at Freddie and still think she would give you the time of day? The ego on that guy.

I think he reminds me of Steve Urkel’s alter ego.

Jasmine is so nice and a good friend to Demi, I would be scared if I was Ollie!

Don’t mind so much how Ben and Nicole’s story didn’t start off the same way as the others. They seem so happy and relaxed with each other.

what a wonderful welcome Ben had from the guys, it shows what a nice guy he is.

By the way, I never imagined Corfu to be so lush and green, it’s definitely on my holiday bucket list now.

Agreed. He's behaving like a man child (ep 5).
He clearly doesn't like Demi as much as he did/as much as he thought/as much as he said, but is blaming the pressure of the environment and the others, rather than owning it.

Freddie is just so lovely.
I'm not on board with "once a cheater, always a cheater". If someone cheated once, many years ago, and clearly regrets it, to the point he's crying, just trust that it won't be a pattern and that he clearly wasn't into the girl he cheated on.

Ep 5 - is it just me, or is Sabrina.....really dull? She's lovely, don't get me wrong, but very boring

Sam reminds me of Vincent Cassel. Who more often than not plays a very bad guy with a bit of a narcissistic streak lol

100% agree, I realise the show is edited but he seems genuinely remorseful. It seems he learnt from that mistake and every relationship is a different world. I’m not the same person with my husband that I was with a very long term boyfriend I had when I was younger.

Nothing at all. But it was probably the very (inaccurate) cliche he was thinking of, ie the airhead type.

Watched 5 and 6 and trying to ration the rest for a bit.

Demi and Ollie need to sack this off. It's just not there and she knows it, which is why she's not herself. She just doesn't want it to be true.

I can see potential in all the other couples to varying degrees. Especially Nicole and Ben who seem totally smitten and really quite compatible

Sam has so many red flags that's he's a full string of bunting.

He gives serious middle child energy - which most people manage to grow out of.

Looking forward to the new eps tonight. Looks like there's some drama coming with Ollie and Catherine and maybe Tom and Natasha meeting?

I would actually enjoy watching them commentate on some of the situations. Not in the annoying scripted way of Mafs.....more in a Google box style. Where they can be real.

Jasmine completely overstepped woth her approach though. I am really bad at seeing through people and maybe you can all see more red flags around ollie than I can - but boy I would have been passed off if she kept asking me 'Where's my head at'. None of her frigging business.

Yes. She was clearly drunk and being a dick. I would have probably reacted similarly to Ollie.
Still, her mini-Lewis seemed impressed.

Yep, and also, I know 2 makeup artists. And they're richer than most other people I know. So he's probably not realised how much money you can make on it

Sam is absolutely the sort of twat I'd fall for. I'm aware this is very much a problem and is one of the reasons I decided to stay single.

Cat reminds me of the trans-woman from MAFS. I think it's a similar face shape and self absorbed-ness.

I love Demi. She seems so insecure and she's stunning.

Why are all the men so tall? Or are the women tiny?

I also wonder if the whole thing doesn't make a mockery of marriage. Why are people marrying people they hardly know? Why are they declaring their love for people they've not met face to face? Maybe I'm old fashioned!

I struggle with that a bit. Marrying someone you just met? It's not necessary to make a good TV show.
They are declaring love before they even know if the other person is willing to share a Bhuna when having a take away. Before they know if the other person says thank you to a checkout worker. Before they know about how they have treated past loves.

Still I just cried loads at this last episode. In a good way. I am saving the last one for later. It does make good TV.

Agree re the weddings. It's a bizarre thing. In ep 8, (not a spoiler) someone explains to a family member that they either have to get married or go their separate ways forever, or words to that effect.
I mean, they can't possibly have signed a contract saying they'll never see them again if they choose to not get married 🤔
It's all so....dramatic. And pointless.
The whole thing with MAFS is that they get married without knowing anything, and seeing if they can make it work.
But this is weird, in that they know a lot about each other before they even meet. Then they meet and know whether they fancy each other (or it could grow). So the marriage part seems so unnecessary

Who was it, upthread, who said that Steven (I think that's his name, I have a terrible memory for names!) looks like the guy from Mighty Boosh, Julian Barratt? Not sure if this is the best pic, but absolutely. That was exactly who he was reminding me of too!

I don't really understand the prenup thing.
So does that mean he has lots of money, or is it that he knows he has a house and she doesn't, or that he earns a lot more than her?
Secondly, I could understand it if he was leaving it for his brother's future care, but to mention his sister was really weird, esp since she's married and is a grown woman, so why would he be leaving her everything? Such an odd thing to mention.
But Caroline ffs, she's a professional victim- she snaps and criticises everything about him, then wonders why he isn't more affectionate, more XYZ. Well, because he's walking on eggshells constantly.
