Is anyone watching?

I'm just halfway through the first episode and was dying to discuss it!

These participants are not what I was expecting at all. They actually sound a lot more interesting than most reality TV fodder.

OP posts:

Oh Tasha bless her! What a beautiful soul!
Jasmine well everyone’s therapist.
Bobby I’m not sure…..some rescuing going on by Jasmine.

SurpriseOzzy · 11/08/2024 12:46

Although I’m changing my mind of Freddie a bit…after seeing the thirst traps on Insta!

Nicebloomers · 11/08/2024 13:56

I’m not sure about Tom. He seemed to dither rather a lot. I wonder if he has previously been a bit of a commitmentphobe? He also talks like he’s discussing last quarters sales figures whilst standing in front of a flip chart. I wonder if Maria will find him quite staid. She seems more fun. I hope he has some passion in there somewhere.

SurpriseOzzy · 11/08/2024 14:29

I think Maria might find Tom a bit dull!! I imagine her with this big fun Moroccan family - family gatherings lots of socialising and I think Tom might struggle with that.

jay55 · 11/08/2024 20:19

I physically recoil every time Sam speaks. Every time he says trust me, I shudder.
He's memorable though and will no doubt have a reality career after.

Not rooting for any of the couples so far.

Tom looks like he's lopped a few years off his age to me.

Omg, I've never seen any of the LIB series, and was so confused at the beginning when Emma and Matt arrived. I thought all the men and women were in the same room couldn't work out where the mystery/blind part came into it all 🫠

burnoutbabe · 12/08/2024 08:12

Same!

I got my mum to watch first with me. She was asking "are they all straight"

I said I assume so (though sone past contestants have been bi) and she asked why they had not done a gay one.

I am pretty sure that concept won't work as you'd still have to split the men into 2 groups and then one assumes the men in sane living quarters would just get together. (Whereas it's not a problem with married at first sight)

Have they tried a gay version of this anywhere? (I know there are tons of other shows -I recall a sort of love island show with many fluid people)

Cosycore · 12/08/2024 10:04

I found some of the reactions to rejection/engagement from the other people in the respective common areas quite telling.

CheeseWisely · 12/08/2024 12:02

Watching now, 3 episodes in. 'Sam from London' is a massive walking red flag, but there seems to be some interesting couples! Looking forward to the rest.

Twonewcats · 12/08/2024 12:29

Re Sam- I'm confused as to why Ben thought Sam was only in it for fame etc. I don't see that at all. I agree completely though that Sam isn't in it for the right reasons - he only ever says how much Nicole could do for him, it's terrifying how needy he is

Yes, particularly with Sam. Everyone sort of murmured when he said he was engaged.

Twonewcats · 12/08/2024 12:41

I find the whole thing fascinating, eg with Tom, when he said he found Tash a friend because there wasn't a sexual attraction. I sort of get what he was saying, that there wasn't flirty stuff being said, but it's nuts how you can even have a sexual/non sexual connection without having seen them

Twonewcats · 12/08/2024 12:43

I loved when Ollie said "it's the best day of my life - and ive been to loads of theme parks" 🤣

Rollergirl11 · 12/08/2024 12:47

Sam has said quite a few times now something like “I just want someone to love me” which makes him sound quite damaged but also pretty self absorbed. No mention of finding someone to love. It’s all about loving him.

Rollergirl11 · 12/08/2024 12:50

But he also said to Tash that there was something between them that he couldn’t articulate and that he’d never felt before and she agreed. So I think it was doubly hard for Tash when he then told her he thought it was just on a friendship level as that wasn’t in keeping with what he’d said to her before.

IjustbelieveinMe · 12/08/2024 12:59

Is Sam the one who threw his goblet in the air outside the room when he was rejected?

Yep. That was the reddest flag in a crowded field of red flags.

Turquoisesea · 12/08/2024 15:59

I agree about Sam being a walking red flag, he’s almost like a parody, so very needy and he does look very familiar like I’ve seen him on another programme. He reminds me a bit of Matt Hancock!

Brooklyn70 · 07/08/2024 22:01

Has anyone here seen LIB Japan and/or Sweden?

I loved both and would love to watch this one if you think people are being genuine.

thanks!

I watched Swedish one. I'd say people on the UK version are genuine. Very impressed

I would imagine Sam must've said something to the boys behind the scenes 😬

Twonewcats · 12/08/2024 19:43

Anyone who has seen other series of this - what's the purpose of the weddings? Is it like a MAFS final vows thing, ie it's the culmination of everything and shows whether they'll stay together?

Also, assuming it's not a legal wedding , also as per MAFS?

jay55 · 12/08/2024 20:05

On the American version they are legal weddings, in that couples who said yes had to get divorced when it went wrong.

Monkeysatonthewall · 12/08/2024 20:19

Steven and Sabrina - both such lovely people. Favourite couple ATM but I'm oy halfway through episode 4. I don't think they'll last as children will probably be too big of an issue..

Bobby and Jasmine - think they will get married.

Maria and Tom - I feel like Tom might say no last minute.

Sam and Nicole - afraid that our girl is going to her her heart broken.

Freddie and Catherine - he almost sounds too good to be true... Unlikely to get married, can envision them having lots of drama, tears etc.

Ollie and Demi - don't think they'll get married.
