I'm just halfway through the first episode and was dying to discuss it!

These participants are not what I was expecting at all. They actually sound a lot more interesting than most reality TV fodder.

I binged Japan last week. I'm still gutted I've watched it all. They were so lovely, and completely honest to each other. Brilliant series.
And jeez, there were some stunning looking people on it.

Bobby has a completely normal accent when speaking to Jasmine on his own. When he speaks in public he puts on this odd rude boy accent, it’s very annoying!

Not as crazy as Maria's sister!

I hope not an insensitive thing to say but I went to Japan years ago and the number of absolutely beautiful people there was astonishing. Style, looks, everything. I felt like a troll.

Just started watching the Japanese one. The women are all much more natural than the UK one. Very little makeup by the look of it. They also seem to wear far more demure (for want of a better word) clothes

Again, I'm not wanting to be insensitive, but I've often wondered which of the women would be considered beautiful by Japanese men. I.e. would it be the same women as I (an overweight white women) find beautiful?

Anyone else see a likeness between Jasmine & Bobby and Chrissy Tiegen & John Legend?

I can imagine all of them saying I do at the moment except Freddie who is clearly and understandably having huge doubts about Cat. I’m not sure how old she is but she is far too immature and insecure for marriage. The way she was with red flag Sam at that bar, my jaw was open to the floor. They deserve each other to be quite honest and Freddie deserves better. I also think Tom and Maria would be wise to back out as they clearly have very different ideas about equality in a marriage, I think they’ll go through with it though. I think he would have possibly been a better match with Tash.

Something I’m wondering is whether they can back out before the wedding if they don’t want to say “I do” or if they are signed into some kind of contract which states they have to go through with the wedding even if they don’t want to. It just seems so cruel and humiliating and if I wasn’t planning to say “I do” then there’s no way I’d turn up to the wedding! How do they get people to do that?!

I was googling Love is Blind s1 Brazil after just watching it and there was a load of Unaired engagements!!

I've only watched Japan before now, but some couples broke up before the wedding so I'm assuming this will be the same

In Brazil season 4 a couple broke up in the living together phase.

I think they didn't allow it the first couple of seasons but do now.

This is my first time watching so I’m not sure of the format. Is the idea that they go ahead with the wedding day and then say either yes/no then? Like MAFS final vows? If so why would you get dressed up in to your wedding dress if you’re planning on saying no in front of all of those people??!

I don't know why you would, or at least of your partner wasn't a complete dick, you'd give them a heads up in advance so they are not blind sided on the day and very hurt.

Sure sone of the people are awful (not so much this show) but most are just okay people who aren't meant to be. No harm no foul.

Yeah apparently UK season had 11/15 couples getting engaged! That's crazy.

I suspect that most people going on to it knew that you wouldn't be featured if you didn't match with someone! I can't imagine you'd get the same success with 15 randomly selected pairs who weren't looking to launch a reality tv career...

Yes that's true. But I guess there's also an element that the genuine contestants are putting everything into it all, and want things to work more than 15 randomly selected pairs, iyswim

I'm just parked up here for the moment until more/someone else comes along as I'm almost at the end of ep11. No intentions of saying anything yet, so no worries about any spoilers (tho I know if I hadn't finished I'd definitely not be back here until I have!).

I don't think they get paid unless they turn up. Yes it's totally cruel to say no without intimating it, especially if you know you want to try to make it work after. I can't imagine anyone would forgive that.

Freddie's lovely and he did the right thing..his sister was spot on about C, but goodness me. She was far too damaged to accept being abandoned again. Poor show on his part.

Cat's friend/bridesmaid is so beautiful.

In the US version, once you get so far along you HAVE to show up at the wedding. Not doing so would incur a massive fine. Can't remember but I'd say 50k dollars from top of my head.

Oh god! Now I'm the one sat here with my eyes all screwed up as I have ended up not finishing the last ep yet so it's my turn to try and avoid spoilers! 🙈 I don't know why I've dared to come back yet, tbh 😂 I think I had just watched Booby and Jasmine so I think only one last couple to see.
Going to slowly back away out of the room...

I actually think her and Freddie would make a lovely couple!
