I think Reiss thinks he can use his wife's money because she'll never recover, she'll just die and he'll never be caught. He's very wrong because I presume in true EE fashion she will recover and he will be found out.

She doesn't need to recover, he's already been found out by Bianca!

Would you be able to get LPA for a relative that was in a coma ? ( I'm sure you could do something, but no clue really )

Whit actually behaved really badly when you think of it, spending shared savings without consulting the person who had a share of the savings, especially given the savings were for their baby and she used the money to essentially pay for custody of another child!

Also, it’s upsetting that Reiss plans to clean out Deb’s account because even if she doesn’t recover, how will they pay her funeral expenses if she does die?
Like pp have said, it’s weird they don’t get a mortgage on the house, they don’t have to ask for the full value of the house, just what they need for the IVF. They both have steady incomes so given how much the house is worth, they shouldn’t struggle to get a bank loan that they can repay over time.

@Viewer23 yeh but Sonia wants the money by tomorrow! And Zack doesn't have a steady income, he's on his uppers. (I agree Whit behaved really badly, I don't know why Zack is the only one getting all the grief.)

@the80sweregreat no, you can't - the LPA has to be signed by the person it's for (i.e. Debs) who has to have the mental capacity to make that decision - and be awake! 😃

I would like to see what the character Debbie is like but I feel we won't and she will die.

Reiss said today ( Tuesday ) he had ' power of attorney' over Debbie. So you must be able to do this , unless the writers have it wrong ?

I think he's lying, but if not then someone with power of attorney can only use that person's money if it's in that person's best interest.

I Don't know how he managed to do the money stealing then. Maybe he said it was for care home fees or something like that ?

Either Reiss is lying, or the writers did not do even the most basic research.

The point of POA is to nominate someone to take care of your affairs should you become incapacitated. I have POA for my ancient mother (she did the POA a few years before she got Alzheimers), and I have done my own POA for future use. But it would be extremely unusual for someone in their 30s to do one 'just in case', and what a coincidence that they then have a massive stroke!

Surely Sonia ( being a nurse) would know a bit about the rules around LPA etc? Although she didn't question it at all and maybe she trusts him due to his job or just isn't that aware of how it works?
We had it for one of my relatives years ago , but they had to sign it.
Maybe Reiss forged her signature?
He seemed a bit menacing today with Bianca.

If he had POA (which, he can't have) he would not have to tell anyone what he was using the money for, he would be trusted to use it in her best interests. Unfortunately sometimes relatives do abuse the system and steal money for their own use. One of my work colleagues was POA for his father, and used his father's money to buy himself a new kitchen. Debbie has no other visible relatives so no one to raise concerns (and anyway they wouldn't have access to her bank account so wouldn't know).

I'm not going to go there re care home fees, as she has had a stroke it should be NHS funded, but the writers will not have given it a second thought!

Oh, so she would receive CHC as she had a stroke ! Makes sense, but it seems a very nice place she is staying in.
Hmm. It's a mystery then as to how Reiss got the POA for her and how he managed to steal money from the account so easily ( that was clearly fraud then ?)
We did see him on the computer doing something to her account.

Must be hard to just lay there trying to look like your not in a coma though.
Is this Bianca's que to leave do we think ? Everyone hates her now and she might not feel there is much she can do to stop Sonia and her ' add ons' from happening , so she might decide that MK is calling her home !
Next week Callum is on to Sharon and Linda over Ken .. he probably won't find out much

Reiss is in a pickle really even if Sonia is happy to spend more of someone else's money on what she wants.
I doubt many would do this tbh.

Maybe Deb will wake up one day and try and kill Sonia!

Poor Linda, I don’t know how she’s going to get through this. I loved those scenes, Kellie is such a great actress.

Reiss would have got a Deputyship to look after Debs’ funds, that is the route you take when the person cannot consent to an LPA. But regardless, it is not ‘perfectly legal’ to use the money on himself, he has stolen it. This is giving out such a terrible message - it’s just taking your inheritance early. It really is not okay. Sonia and Reiss deserve each other.

Reiss is very foolish to kick off at Bianca - she could report him for misuse of funds, fingers crossed she does!

I was just thinking the same @the80sweregreat about what a nice care home she is in, when either the NHS or local council are paying for it!

I thought the same when she first appeared a few months ago. I like the tension with him and Bianca and enjoyed Bianca’s comment to him today about him and Sonia: “God knows what she sees in you” but surely Patsy is going to be returning soon to her family in Los Angeles?

Yes it is a mystery how Reiss was ever with Debbie. But we don't know, other than his story, what actually happened there.

After seeing how Reiss was with Bianca, it crossed my mind they are “doing a Richard Hillman”.

Hillman was a huge storyline on Corrie 20+ years ago. He arrived ‘from nowhere’ at a funeral for a much loved character (allegedly her cousin), and became involved with the deceased’s best friend, Gail. He was a charming likeable chap. After about a year he proposed. He started having money problems, but was determined to get the money to give her the wedding and life she wanted. Only one person saw him for who he was, everyonelse thought he was great. The bodies started piling up (including his inconvenient ex wife) …
