For the poster asking about Fat Friends it is well worth a watch - it’s where G&S came from. R&J would watch people in the hotel at night and make up stories about them.

Random fact - The chippy in G&S is named “big & battered” which is the same name as the one in Fat Friends!

I watched Fat Friends on Netflix earlier in the year. 4 seasons. I think it's on ITVX premium too. (Where you pay £5.99 a month.) Not sure if it's on the free one.

I watched Fat Friends earlier in the year too. I knew Alison and James were in it, but I didn't recognise Ruth Jones at all!

Apparently Joanna page was seen as the most talented actress in her year at RADA - I think Maxine peake said this in an interview a few years ago.
I enjoyed the finale but don't think it was anywhere near as good as the earlier episodes. The 2008 Xmas special is perfect tv in my opinion whereas this felt quite predictable and a bit of a 'greatest hits' of old jokes and catchphrases.

Also we don't notice it much in Gavin and Stacey, as Nessa is supposed to be a bit 'rough' and 'ard, but Ruth Jones is actually very pretty!

We watched the ‘making of’ earlier and I was struck by how beautiful Ruth Jones is.

I was just about to post the same thing. Several times during the finale I thought “She’s bloody gorgeous”.

She is very beautiful . Stunning eyes. I worked with her brother years ago and he was very good looking too. And very proud of her.

She's my absolute girlcrush. Both Ruth and Ness.

She looked absolutely stunning throughout

We commented while watching that Joanna Page is pretty, but Ruth Jones is beautiful

I loved it when it was first on. Watched the first two episodes earlier this year and wasn't so sure about it any more.

Something else that Ruth Jones was excellent in was Hattie, where she plays Hattie Jacques. Bloody brilliant.

And of course, Stella, which I actually prefer to G&S, although I love both.

Well I thought that was hysterical because my mother who is also 78 says the same thing all the time as do her sisters!! I mean it’s the last thing they want but they certainly think about the disposable income and living in a nice modern flat. I loved it all and it’s a shame JC is a pain in real life because he is so talented.

My dad, same age as Mick, collapsed the other day. Mum found him when she got home and said she wasn’t sure who to phone first, the ambulance or the estate agent.

(he was fine, it was his blood pressure tablets had been changed and the dose was too high).
