Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?) Grin

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread. Smile

You would think Craig would notice too
I know he's upset about his Dad
But surely he's wondering why his mum and sister keep whispering and panicking in corners .

PenguinIce · 25/07/2024 11:27

How can Craig not hear them talking when he is only upstairs. The stairs are in the lounge, their voices must travel right up.

Katy, panting, shaking, flapping about, grizzling, panicking, sweating, and whinging is proper pissing me off. Wish she'd feck off. Angela is getting on my nerves now too.

HATE Ray Langton Hmm

Ray's not so bad if you remember him from when he was in it in the early 70s.

That's the snag with returning characters - only part of the current audience will "get" them, unless there's a huge amount or re-capping (which would be pretty intrusive of the current storylines)

Your wish may be about to come true

I think I'll let out a cheer

JewelleryCat · 25/07/2024 13:19

I hope there is no more crying today from Katy and Angela, it’s got on my wick the last few days. Also, is what Angela said yesterday true about how the police officer wanted her to do a tv appeal and that’s apparently now made Angela a suspect because they only get suspects to do tv appeals

Tbf she couldn't appear more suspicious if she tried
The police would have to be very dim not to have suspicions.

HurdyGurdy19 · 25/07/2024 18:39

I do remember the Harris family's storyline, but not the finer details. I was sitting very smugly today when I was watching, and I thought "If I was Angie, I'd put that spanner into Tommy's coffin with him".

Someone beat me to that brilliant idea 😅

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 25/07/2024 22:10

God the Ray and Tracey storyline is so boring. How many times are they going to have the same conversation? ‘You’re not my dad, Ken’s my dad, you left me, blah blah blah’.

Angela and Katie driving me mad too. It’s all irritating at the moment.

Ken is being a bit of a hypocrite
He dumped Peter and Susan when their mum died ,and when did he last see Daniel?
Yet he acts holier than thou over Ray.

foothandmouth · 26/07/2024 14:09

I loved Norris and Emily's breakfast conversation. Baby oil lol

Allthehorsesintheworld · 26/07/2024 15:06

Katie going into the garage looks like she’s being pushed over t’cobbles on wheels.
And the copper stood outside the door must be deaf.

Mrspatmoresspoon · 28/07/2024 22:16

I actually think sticking the murder weapon in the sealed coffin is absolute genius.

Do they ever find the weapon?

I thought that too, but then you have to justify refusing a cremation.

KeepSmiling89 · 29/07/2024 16:08

Jumping in to join in on the conversation.

Are priests really bound by an oath to not tell the police if someone confesses to a murder?
Angela goes to a priest to confess yet she doesn't want forgiveness...what exactly was she hoping to get out of it?

x2boys · 29/07/2024 18:36

I'm a very lapsed Catholic, I thought priests had to let the police know if someone confesses to a crime?
If Angela is Catholic than think by confessing to her sins, she would get forgiveness from God is part of the belief system

Oops re read ,not sure what's she's hoping ti get from it if not forgiveness.

I had to actually fast forward a couple of scenes in Classic Corrie today. Katie got on my absolute last nerve. Gibbering and shaking and bobbing about - with her face all weird and contorted like she wanted to sneeze. Massive, massive overacting coming from the actress. It was actually painful and ridiculous to watch. I'll be glad when she's gone from the show!

Also think Deirdre is really inconsiderate, putting her ex who left her and Tracy 20 odd years ago before Ken. Personally, I'd leave her if I was Ken. I can't remember what happens with Ray, but I'm willing to bet he's not even ill.

Mrspatmoresspoon · 30/07/2024 22:51

Re the priest confidentiality thing me and DH googled it the other night (it’s absolute rock n roll scenes in our house I know) apparently they can’t tell the police anything told in confidence!

But they will encourage you to go to the police and they will also not be able to absolve you of sin on that occasion

How annoying is Katy. Never really liked her but the shaking and snivelling is really wearing thin. Think the Angela actress is brilliant and the lad is great - whose real life mum was in the street in the 80s as Gloria!

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 30/07/2024 23:27

As a Catholic atheist myself I just assumed priest couldn’t say anything! I wouldn’t be going round confessing to him in any case.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 31/07/2024 14:14

Did anyone notice that the priest was Barristan Selmy/Grandpa Joe??

salamithumbs · 31/07/2024 20:17

Yes I noticed!! Couldn't believe it was him, nearly didn't recognise him without a Derry accent!

HeySummerWhereAreYou · 31/07/2024 22:18

Katy/Lucy-Jo Hudson was supremely annoying today! Angry I wish she would leave. She's spoiling the show. Why on earth was she acting like this? Did no-one say 'crikey Lucy-Jo, your over-acting is horrific!'

It's unwatchable.

Urgh. That scene in the Kabin was unwatchable.

Watching the Southport scenes - I’m a bit behind with Corrie due to watching the Olympics. I’d never really heard of Southport until this week. 😔 😔
I read that Jean Alexander lived there and has a memorial bench there. Apparently she campaigned for a library for the town too…Roy would be chuffed!
