Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.

Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?)

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread.

Yes, I thought that was an unlikely scenario. From what Tommy was saying, it seemed that once the decision was made, they'd just pitch up at a clinic and get it done there and then. There would surely be some counselling, and some "thinking time" afterwards, to be sure Katie really understood the implications of what she was about to do.

TBH if you paid you did used to be able to book a termination that quickly. You were booked in and the “ counselling” was a few minutes talk while you there. As women often had to travel out of their area it was the only feasible way really.

I’ve never seen these episodes. I didn’t know Tommy was that vile. Ange should have kicked him out months ago.

Tommy said something in today’s episode about having to get back to work because ‘abortions don’t come cheap’. So must have been private and also urgh he’s awful.

I thought this. It all happened far too quickly. Seemed like a day or two! Maybe it was week - as we get the Classic Corrie episodes quicker than they originally came out IYSWIM.

Dreadful I can't understand the story line though ,Katy would nt have been charged with murder it would have been. Manslaughter and she was massively provoked by him ,terrible situation which I have no doubt torn her family apart but she would have served a few years at most i think

I don't know how the law works but given she had just had an abortion and been coerced into by her dad wouldn't her emotions and hormones be all over the place ?
Would she have even be charged with manslaughter?

The sideways storyline with Traceh is just ridiculous. I can't be doing with her at all and that horrible green buggy, it just looks grubby and like it reeks of Deirdreh's fags. Also that bloody silly old women with a crush on Ken, it's just silly. I loved the book club though although Liz being there is an oxymoron. I very much doubt she reads anything more than the Sun and Take a Break. I rather like Scooter and Sarah, quite cute. Funny that junk was junk then, now everybloodything is upcycled.

I thought she was Beth. But I gave my head a mumsnet wobble and thought that would be impossible.

Lots of soap actors have played smaller parts in earlier years. Like Jason slept with Carla last year in Classic Corrie when she was “Mrs Fanshaw”. And Todd was in it as a different boyfriend of Candice’s before he was in it as Todd.

Eastenders is the same - shirley was in it as Mandy’s mother years ago. And Denise was in it as a singer in someone’s band in the 90s.

If you missed it. Katie found out Martin didn’t have an affair, regretted having the abortion, had a screaming row with Tommy and whacked him with a crowbar or something like that. He’s dead.

Beth was disgusted when Craig applied to be a police officer! Ha.

I remember that storyline because it was taking place when I finally gave up on Corrie.

My guess is that he’s now the only cop in Weatherfield, as Martin was the only nurse!

Katy, panting, shaking, flapping about, grizzling, panicking, sweating, and whinging is proper pissing me off. Wish she'd feck off. Angela is getting on my nerves now too.

Katie is over acting. When people panic to that extent, they can't keep it up for very long, certainly not for days. Ridiculous.

I thought that too. Seriously over-acting. I really wish she'd leave!
