Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?) Grin

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread. Smile

I thought Claire looked stunning in her bridal gown even all these years later, it hasn’t dated. Heartfelt speech from Fred at the reception too. I love Classic Corrie. Sadly, don’t watch the current programme anymore. It’s unrecognisable.

Karen left the street with just one suitcase.. usual for soaps. I take more than that for a weekend away 😂

Especially odd given her love of shopping.

Mrspatmoresspoon · 13/06/2024 22:15

Ah yeah Clare looked beautiful and timeless. The only thing dating it was the jewellery and tiaras - they were really early 2000s.

The bridesmaid dresses looked very of their time too - strapless, a line and in that odd material that looked slightly different colours in different lights.

Flipping Katie’s hair though!!!!

Yeah Katie,s hair is ridiculous what on earth are they thinking!

I got married in 2005 so not long after Ashley and Claire my mums friend made my wedding dress ( she had made several before ) mine was very simple in comparison I didn't want anything complicated it was a long cream coloured. Satin armless dress it probably wasn't keeping in the fashion of the time but it suited me and she also made a satin slide thing for my up do hair !

FeltCarrot · 14/06/2024 08:05

Katie always looked frumpy though.

ImNotThereAmI · 14/06/2024 08:25

I liked Claire’s dress although that different coloured part didn’t work for me, looked like she’d spilled a pint of lager down the front and it had made a river of beer

Allthehorsesintheworld · 14/06/2024 14:51

Uuuggghhh Can’t believe Charlie is telling Shelley to lose weight. Kill him now Shelley, I’ll help you bury the body.

Iwantacampervan · 14/06/2024 16:41

Adam has a new head, it's the current one but in 2004/5 his hair obviously was more easily tamed! Interesting exchange between Sarah & Adam too.

thenightsky · 14/06/2024 18:25

Today's was brilliant with the separate female and male party scenes. Particularly the men at the bar, discussing women.

Charlie is vile. The way he grabbed Violet and kissed her. Urgh.

So is it the same Adam as current Corrie ? Was going to check the credits but forgot !

at first I thought it was a stain from when the dress got trampled on in the factory ruckus! Was lovely otherwise though

Anyone else's ITVX not showing any episodes for this week? Last episode available was shown on Friday 14th.

Would have loved for this to have been her reaction.

"oh Charlie im glad you care so much about me So you wont mind going without sex to give me the optimum chance to lose weight as i wouldnt want to risk pregnancy to mess this up and contraception isnt 100% and that can make you gain weight too I already know you wont mind as you are so on board with this.

As soon as I saw garage man, Ian, it all came flooding back.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 18/06/2024 22:46

Yes I remember that story really well for some reason! Maybe cos it was so cringe.

Getupat8amnow · 19/06/2024 20:18

I have just watched the Christmas 2004 and New Year episodes and I enjoyed them. We watched the Christmas Day episode last Sunday and I made a roast beef dinner with all the trimmings and trifle/ice cream for pudding and some chocolate! We had our own mini Christmas in June 2024 in honour of Christmas in Corrie Land in 2004!

I am going to do this every Classic Corrie Christmas as we enjoyed it.

That sounds so good! A mini Christmas every time Classic Corrie does Christmas

eggandonion · 19/06/2024 20:43

I missed the Christmas episodes. I do like the idea of a mini Christmas.
Ian is slimy. I remember Sally had lots of nice new clothes to be an executive in.

OCaledonia · 19/06/2024 21:53

@Getupat8amnow what a lovely idea, I'm going to do that henceforth as well!
I also make a sherry trifle at Christmas and Easter and birthdays.

Charlie's an interesting character isn't he?
He abusive and controlling with shelley but every now and then he does something. Decent
He reminds me of Jim Mcdonald in some ways who was mainly an arse hole but could be very kind on occasion
Or even Terry Duckworth who for all his, faults. Has defended vulnerable women at times .

Makes modern day Corrie's characters look so flat and bland doesn't he? I hated the bullying of Roy scenes. They were very hard to watch.
