Continuing from the last thread when 2003 begins! Doesn't time fly in Classic Corrie? The last thread was started 10 months ago, and we have powered through a year and 8 months in that time (20 months.) Wonder where we will be by the end of this one? (If it does eventually come to an end?) Grin

Karen (McDonald) has been stressing about the death of her mum - and trying to be a better person, Martin and Katie are still together, (though Katie's dad Tommy is unimpressed by it,) Kelly Crabtree has just come in, Cilla abandoned Chesney to go on holiday with Les, Sunita and Dev are together at last, and Maya is about to go on a rampage after appearing to forge Sunita's signature for something.

Also, Sean has just come in and started living with Eileen (still is I think!) Jason and Todd are still in it, and Danny Baldwin and his wife Frankie are in charge of Underworld now, with Daniel's 'Uncle Mike' taking lots more time off. Oh, and Danny's son Jamie has just arrived, followed by Frankie and Danny's son Warren...

Charlie the builder is dating Shelly the barmaid, and Sally has just recently started turning into a snob. Jack (Duckworth) was dressed as Ida Fagg posing as a woman for the bowls team, and Norris, Blanche, and Emily have been playing poker!

Roy and Hayley are still together, Ciaran the handsome Irish barman is trying to start up his own business with Penny King, Steve seems to be warming to his little daughter (baby Amy,) and at the moment, there doesn't seem to be much drama with Gail and Audrey's family, or the Barlows, or the Websters, or with Fred and Ashley. Ashley and Clare are dating, but it's still a bit up in the air.

Hope I haven't missed much out, but that covers most stuff going on right now I think. Let's see how much has changed by the end of this thread. Smile

Oh poor Jason.

ImNotThereAmI · 05/06/2024 15:34

I only just found out that the violet actor is married to the Jamie actor in real life. Had no idea!

anotherpain · 05/06/2024 16:02

The missing episodes are back on ITVX!! I'm about a month behind so I've got loads of catching up to do! X

FeltCarrot · 05/06/2024 17:28

Just got this message from ITVX

Classic Corrie Thread. Now in September 2004.
CinderRosie · 05/06/2024 19:04

@FeltCarrot amazing reply! I’ve just checked and they are indeed back!

Getupat8amnow · 05/06/2024 19:32

That is a wonderful reply from Louise at ITVX.

FeltCarrot · 06/06/2024 13:53

Now I’m able to catch up on last week, I’ve realised who Wanda reminds me of…It’s Bobby, from current Corrie!

Its definitely the voice and big round glasses 😂

HazelBite · 06/06/2024 16:09

I loved the Birds and Bees talk from Les

I know for a fact due to my job that Yvonne would not have been allowed to inspect the Elliott/Peacock businesses. She may have been allocated the case, at which point she would have explained to her manager that someone else needed to do it. HMRC/the old Inland Rev has its faults but it is very hot on conflict and data security and unafraid to sack staff for breaches. Her daughter Claire being an employee was sufficient conflict, never mind a fiancée!

But I understand that the writers needed to get the character back on screen somehow to create some scenes of discord (which were brilliantly acted in fairness).

I now know how doctors, nurses and midwives feel when they see Martin in every hospital scene! The most prolific medical professional in the north west.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 09/06/2024 11:02

I thought Yvonne said it wasn’t a real inspection? So she wasn’t allocated it etc. she just went along and pretended she’d been sent officially?

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 09/06/2024 11:02

Which makes more sense even if highly unlikely

Yep i used to be a nurse it's infuriating when you see something you know it just wouldn't happen IRL
Like when Martin attacked Karl in the hospital in full uniform regardless of the circumstances he wouldn' just have been suspended for a couple of weeks and then had a slap on the wrist, he would have been suspended and it would have dragged on for months ,and then he would have had a disciplinary ,and he would have undoubtedly been dismissed on the grounds of gross misconduct

Poor Karen, I feel so sorry for her. Liz should have kept her mouth shut, it’s almost as if she enjoyed telling Deidre. Not seen these episodes before, Suranne Jones is a bloody good actor.

thenightsky · 10/06/2024 18:58

Yes, I really felt for poor Karen today. Tracy needs a slap, nasty cow.

RedYellowPinkGreenPurpleOrangeBlue · 11/06/2024 19:36

That's Karen and Steve over then.

Today's episode was good. (Christmas day 2004.) One marriage started as another one ended. Karen has left now I think.

Mrspatmoresspoon · 11/06/2024 19:56

Bloody brilliant episodes today! Looking forward to 2005 🍷

Mrspatmoresspoon · 11/06/2024 20:38

I do think that Jack has got a point with the card. My dragons den idea is to produce a stunning Christmas card with slots for different years that becomes a keepsake.

Much more sustainable too

OnTheBoardwalk · 11/06/2024 22:10

I think Steve was at his best tonight. It really annoys me how he is in current Corrie

ImNotThereAmI · 12/06/2024 06:58

I felt sad watching the Steve and Karen storyline come to an end. Steve had a point when he said lots of people have babies with another person and get on with it, but this whole thing started with him keeping the baby a secret from Karen about it in the lead up to their wedding. It’s no wonder really that she couldn’t really get over it and always felt he was lying to her. She’s obvs out of order a lot but that but secret must be almost impossible to deal with, and we know Karen is troubled generally, all that stuff with her parents. And Tracey of course is just insufferable. I hate her so much, she has behaved appallingly to Karen

ImNotThereAmI · 12/06/2024 07:07

And of course I’m pissed off that we know Steve ends up with Tracy. Agree with pp that Steve is terrible now, I don’t watch it anymore but he’s been an awful character with a child’s voice for years. And I’ve never got over Tracey not ever getting her just desserts for all her awful behaviour over the years. Rant over!

Yes Tracey was a total bitch constantly goading Karen
And whilst yes lots of people have kids with other people IRL you wouldn't all be living in one small street with the mother of the baby doing everything possible to split you up
I think the straw that broke the Camels back for Steve was how karen didn't care what what she was putting Steve through when she burnt the car
It's one thing doing it For revenge on Tracey bit she.didnt consider how Steve would feel about it.

Yes agree. It was quite poignant when Steve was asking Vera how she coped with all the arguing. He is completely worn down by it. They should have done what Karen wanted a while back, and moved from the street. Or maybe just not lied to Karen in the first place. Agree Karen didn’t think of Steve, she was totally caught up with revenge, but I still feel sad for her, she was grieving her own baby. It’s a shame all round, also a shame that I’m so invested in this 😂

DirtyDensDog · 12/06/2024 09:35

It was a good episode yesterday.

I didn't watch Corrie back in the day so it's all new to me, so much better than current Corrie.

OCaledonia · 12/06/2024 21:50

Karen left the street with just one suitcase.. usual for soaps. I take more than that for a weekend away 😂
