@botanybabe123 he's trying to rationalise it and talk her through it in a rational way. It's not working. But I wouldn't blame someone for not knowing how to deal with someone's anxiety disorder. It's the ixperts job.

Abitboring · 18/04/2024 21:02

Well, I'm glad Timothy has owned the shitshow homestay. Someone like Rich or Jack or Sara wouldn't have been able to do that but would have gaslit the shit out of their partner.

I'm not buying Sara. Like shes a changed woman overnight. Yeah right.

I didn’t enjoy tonight’s episode, anyone else feel the same?

How much longer left, I wonder?

Yes I agree, it was really unsettling. It felt like watching abuse and it was sickening, because they are real people and this is not really an experiment but an entertainment programme, but it broached into voyeurism tonight. There should have been a trigger warning.

Abitboring · 18/04/2024 21:22

It was like the big drama was absent. It wasn't. It was just silent and could not be heard but only be seen. Jacks abuse is very dangerous.

Appalonia · 18/04/2024 21:22

I've finally seen what Eden's saying. He's mansplaining her feelings to her! So the only way she can get out of it is to agree with him. No wonder she doesn't feel heard. He needs to learn active listening ( paraphrasing ). Such a useful tool.

browneyes77 · 18/04/2024 21:25

Abitboring · 18/04/2024 20:56

Do we think Jack cheated on Tori? Or Ridge on Jade?

No, I think it’s Jonno.

Many of us have said for ages he fancied Ellie, he’s made it kind of obvious the way he’s quiet the rest of the time, doesn’t stand up for Lauren, but was always quick to open his mouth and jump to Ellie’s defence and say what a great woman she is.

I’m not convinced he’s the good guy he portrays.

Abitboring · 18/04/2024 21:26

Yeah and most people cannot talk someone out of their panic attack. A skilled therapist could but not mansplaining Jayden. They should just have briefly discussed what Eden needs (hide in the loo, go home, sit on the sofa) and what Jayden wants other than hashing it out there and then and left it at that. It would have been reasonable to say Eden wasn't well and wouldn't join the dinner just like Rich with his manflu the other week.

I’m already counting down to the reunion.

That’s when it no holds barred, all the dirty laundry comes out and people have a bun fight. It’s the best bit 😂

I'm watching on catch up and will probably fwd the scenes with Eden as the preview suggests she is having an anxiety spiral and I think I'll feel both triggered and voyeuristic watching it (well aware of the fact that voyeurism is the whole point of this show, but ykwim!)

However, so far on this episode there have been some stone cold CLASSIC lines

THE WIND EMOJI

everyone screwing up their noses and saying STICKY, in response to Lu's description of Tim's flat

GLAZED CHRISTMAS HAM

IT WORKED. SHE LIKED IT.

EIGHT MINUTES

(I should probably quit while I'm ahead and skip the rest of the episode I reckon!)

Turtonator · 18/04/2024 21:38

Yeah, tonight was unsettling.

God, Lucinda - Timothy isn't worth your breath! He might be apologising, and you might think he's looking handsome, but he brought you to his shabby pissy grubby flat, had nothing planned in advance despite knowing weeks ago this would be happening, didn't even get a cleaner in, and left you - and his dogs, who he wouldn't have seen for weeks - on your own for 7 hours! In the bin with him! I though her words explaining how it'd made her feel were good, but then - oh, forgiven. Nah!

Jayden wants to talk and Eden can't cope with any of it, and like she said, it feels like he wants to battle her rather than be on the same team. For her age she seems pretty astute in knowing this isn't something she is able to deal with - it's not that she doesn't want to, she just isn't emotionally able to - and Jayden with his black and white perspective can't get it into his head.

The preview of the next CC, I (hand on heart) haven't seen any spoilers but I have a feeling this is Queen Lauren and Jono - shots of her looking properly emotional and him looking a bit awks. I wonder if the one desperate to have babies has been in touch (Ben's wife that Jono was so vocally protective of and in a week I've forgotten her name).

Turtonator · 18/04/2024 21:39

Cross post ... must type quicker... Ellie!

CorylusAgain · 18/04/2024 21:44

I found watching Eden unbearable.
I'm not minimising how difficult it is to live with someone with extreme anxiety, but he's relentless. The ixperts were so right when they described him as in security guard mode!
Eden (like Tris, and Timothy) simply should not be there.

CardinalCat · 18/04/2024 22:14

Ok, I did end up watching the Eden and Jayden parts.
I do think that she undoubtedly has some anxiety at play here. However Jayden's behaviour is slightly reminiscent of Dick's actions (that is, constantly wanting to talk about things that their partner has said makes them uncomfortable, asking respective questions but not listening- properly listening- to the substance of what that person is saying, when she is telling you what she needs.)
Jayden is far too wedded to "the rules" of the ixpirimint and I don't blame Esen for feeling like she's an opponent rather than on the same side. He just drones on and on with superficial analysis that doesn't in any way help her get what she needs.

I do wonder whether her anxiety might mysteriously get better out of this relationship altogether. I am not minimising the concept of clinical anxiety- but it is generally speaking a response to a certain environment. And while she seemed safe and happy on the beach with the dog the other day, the bottom line is that she cannot handle these challenging social events WITH HER HUSBAND. Indeed he is often at best the agitator and at worst the instigator of the drama and conflict at these events. So perhaps it's not the dinner party that's her problem, but the way her husband behaves and makes her feel T the dinner party (and CCs.)
I wonder if perhaps it is dawning on her that he's not the man she needs and that she needs someone with more empathy and less performative righteousness.

Causewerethespecialtwo · 18/04/2024 22:19

That whole episode made for uncomfortable watching. I just wanted to rescue Eden. And I don’t even know where to start with Tori.

olivebranch31 · 18/04/2024 22:25

Not buying what Tori and Jack are selling. They are just not believable in the slightest. Same as Harrison and Bronte last year. Also calling bullshit on them having sex.

Eden was quite clearly having a panic attack which Jayden was oblivious to as he is such a self-righteous fuckwit.

Littlebluebird123 · 18/04/2024 22:26

I think Eden and Jayden aren't well suited as he likes to air and talk through everything and she wants to avoid it.
In his defence, I think he did tame himself and not start anything so as to minimise Eden's anxiety. He asked if she wanted to leave and tried to help her. He obviously doesn't have a clue about anxiety but he is trying.

Tori - I just don't understand how she can say being on the Gold Coast gave her the idea that they had longevity. She hated it! There's no way she wanted to live like that and I thought his friends were a clear sign of how horrible he is. He treated her so badly and thought 8 minutes of his pleasure would make up for it. 🤮🤮🤮

Rollergirl11 · 18/04/2024 22:28

I’ve just binge watched this series whilst reading the threads and have finally caught up tonight!

God the Eden Jayden exchange was a very difficult watch. Her repeatedly saying yes okay while Jayden talked at her was just awful. You could literally see her shutting down and going in on herself. Why did he continue to fire questions at her and point the finger when it was clear to see that she was suffering with extreme anxiety. It was very unsettling to watch and I’ve come away with a very sour taste in my mouth. This isn’t entertainment, this is someone’s mental health. Really not okay!

Completely irrelevant but I really liked the denim jacket that Sara was wearing when they met up with Ben and the other friend (who didn't seem to have any opinion 🤔). Does anyone know where it's from or have seen anything similar?

Ask on Style and Beauty. They'll probably know.

TinselAngel · 18/04/2024 22:57

Re. The new cheating allegation- we never did really find out where Elder Tim went for 7 hours

I am afraid I could probably stay angry at Timothy.

Something to look forward to. I kind of lose the will to live during the vow renewal ceremonies.

Italiangreyhound · 18/04/2024 23:09

I think Lauren and Jono might work.
