He would still be just Dylan, even if he were autistic.

purpleme12 · 06/04/2024 23:57

Yes I know but it's just my opinion

Doubleraspberry · 07/04/2024 00:05

Personally I think it’s quite a clever way to bring the fact that Dylan does present as autistic into the story, although clearly not in a good way for the character. I wonder where it will go.

I’m the mother of two fantastic children who are funny and clever and quirky and kind, and also autistic.

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 07/04/2024 07:19

I remember doing a course on autism and the trainer did say many highly intelligent people are on the spectrum somewhere. So Dylan could be but he could also just be like he is.

kerstina · 07/04/2024 08:13

I wasn’t paying enough attention last week but did Dylan cover for a mistake that the Dr who had lost his dad ? That resulted in them dying ? Or was it genuinely missed ? I wasn’t quite sure.

Genuinely missed but may have been found if they had done a scan that Rash wanted to do but Dylan said wasn't needed, I think.

kerstina · 07/04/2024 08:26

I kept saying to my DH last night “ Who would want to do this job ? “ All the layers of pressure and hassle at every turn . Not to mention all the vomit 🤮

I wasn’t paying enough attention last week but did Dylan cover for a mistake that the Dr who had lost his dad ? That resulted in them dying ? Or was it genuinely missed ? I wasn’t quite sure.

What happened last week was that Rash wanted to scan a patient that he was concerned about but Dylan said it wasn’t necessary. As a result a problem was missed which then caused the patient to die.

It wasn’t that anybody did anything wrong as such, just that if Dylan had agreed to scan the patient as requested by Rash then it was unlikely he would have died.

I imagine that Rash was left feeling very dismissed and guilty about the avoidable death, and Dylan also felt guilty that he hadn’t taken Rash’s concerns seriously and the patient died as a result.

Doubleraspberry · 07/04/2024 08:51

Also that the issue was very rare, so Dylan took the view that most doctors would have taken based on the patient’s symptoms, which was to wait and see. This is every doctor’s nightmare really, as pragmatically they have to go with the most obvious approach rather than throw in every test going in case.

UsernameChangerRanger · 07/04/2024 08:53

I remember there being a storyline where he fell out with his dad because of his autism.

purpleme12 · 07/04/2024 09:41

No you're thinking of his OCD
Dylan and autism have never been mentioned in the show before. Only on here

purpleme12 · 07/04/2024 09:41

Not before yesterday anyway

It’s definitely been hinted at over the years, I remember when he was treating an autistic patient and was the only one who understood her - He referred to himself as Neurodivergent to Zoe in the same episode..

Doubleraspberry · 07/04/2024 10:05

Not just on here to be fair. I think the idea that Dylan could well be autistic has been discussed in a lot of places.

purpleme12 · 07/04/2024 10:18

Well ok sorry for putting just on here 🤣
I can't read everywhere 🤣

Which episode was the one about him saying he's neurodivergent?
I want to watch it now

purpleme12 · 07/04/2024 10:19

Don't ever remember him saying that

AnImaginaryCat · 07/04/2024 10:28

I don't recall that either.

However (having just done this) I don't suggest you google "Dylan casualty autistic" together to find the episode it might have been. It throws up a spoiler.

Well don't, unless of cause you want a spoiler!!

I thought something had been mentioned along these lines before but OCD would make sense

Thanks

I've googled already 🤣 but not found any spoilers mind.
There's nothing official saying Dylan's left. Just loads of reporting about the content of last night's episode. Which leads me to believe he's not truly left

purpleme12 · 07/04/2024 10:42

Yes there was a whole storyline around his OCD (and it definitely said he had a diagnosis for that,)

Unless there's something else you're referring to that I've missed

hello casualty fans. I have a weird question - I don’t watch casualty. Has there been a scene in this new series where an ambulance gets held up by a black car that won’t get out of the way at all?

Sorry, didn’t mean to sound pedantic! It was more just that it’s not just the opinion of the specific posters on here; the character reads as autistic to a lot of viewers clearly.

There was one a while back where the ambulance could not leave the site(prison?) with the patient.

Oh, could be. Do you know when that was or else happened in the episode? Must have been after the end of January.
