I watched ‘last night’s’ episode on iPlayer - was it on tv too and are we ok to talk about it yet?

UsernameChangerRanger · 14/07/2024 09:26

It was on tv too. I'm confused by the new guy and what his role is other than being "on the board". It seems he's guilty as sin and we'll be subjected to another long drawn out storyline of did he didn't he before he's fired. Nicole is going to go to court and keep the baby. Faith is going to tilt her head that bit too far and it will fall off. Rida will be sarcastic to the wrong person and it'll bite her in the backside. Siobhan and her not so hunky fireman husband will be outed as swingers and that's why she pushed Stevie into dating him. Ngozi is going to turn from one of the best characters on the show to an obsessive stalker.

WhatICallMyUsername · 14/07/2024 09:32

I really didn't want them to go the affair storyline route with Stevie. As Siobhan has not yet referred to him by his name just "hubby" I am going to clutch at straws down the identical twins route 🤣

AnImaginaryCat · 14/07/2024 09:35

I need someone to update me. I missed the last episode (I think just one - last one I watch was start of storm and was on BBC 2.)

Anyway why are so many of the staff sleeping at work or on other people's floors?

Where did the manager/Board man, Jamie, that Cam knows come from? Ditto Stalker Man?

(I can't watch iplayer- not in UK.)

It seems Jamie ran a youth group and is, naturally (following tv tropes) a child abuser and raped the guy who turned up on the doorstep. Cam is weirdly loyal to Jamie because he had faith in him being a nurse. Cam disclosed to a labouring woman that when he's anxious he clenches his fists and so from that point on whenever Jamie was mentioned the Casualty team did a close up of his hands showing he was uncomfortable.

AnImaginaryCat · 14/07/2024 10:06

Was this the first time we saw Jamie then?

xxSideshowAuntSallyxx · 14/07/2024 10:31

I really don't want Jamie to be bad, he has a shelf life then and I like the actor.

Why can't he just be a good mentor to Cam. Someone who Cam looks up to and who looks out for Cam without an ulterior motive.

We've already got one arsehole with Siobhan's husband why do we need two?!

Are they ever going to tell Ngozi that Dervla is Dylan's dog 😂

Jamie turn up as the new 'member of the board' at the start of this little group of episodes. He was making himself useful fetching and carrying etc.

Staff are sleeping on floors etc because their properties were storm damaged. The young 'un were house sharing a d other staff offered them places to stay Rida was taken in by Rash, what's her face by Teddy but poor Cam was left without anywhere to go. In swept Jamie to 'rescue' him.

Girlontherailreplacementbusservice · 14/07/2024 10:34

*Jodie, what's her face is Jodie

bakail · 14/07/2024 10:59

Jodie/whatsherface was a bit of a cow last night.

bakail · 14/07/2024 10:59

Yep she was.

I had my mum staying and she hadn't watched it for a while so I was trying to fill her in on some of the relevant (and less relevant but ridiculous) storylines. So there was lots of 'that one there', 'her off Bread' 'Bradley Walsh's kid' etc so character names weren't at the forefront of my brain.

bizzey · 14/07/2024 11:10

Was Jodie looking up a dating site on her phone at the end ?

UsernameChangerRanger · 14/07/2024 11:14

bizzey · 14/07/2024 11:10

Yes, but I read it as more of a casual hook up site. She doesn't want kids and she's being forced to play mum to a baby that is no relation to the lad she's bunking up with (Teddy) because the baby's grandad is too busy playing hero.

FourLeggedBuckers · 14/07/2024 11:27

I think from Cam’s reactions to Siobhan’s digging, and the fact that he’s rapidly developing an RSI in that clenched fist, we can be pretty sure that Jamie is guilty as fuck and there’s no “did he, didn’t he” about it… But it’s all going to drag out and then blow up in their faces, and then be conveniently forgotten about in the next episode block.

I’m hoping we will get a few more Dervla girlfriend comedy moments before anyone puts Ngozi in the loop though.

And I don’t blame Jodie for being pissed about being left holding the baby. Teddy could’ve let her go and check out Jacob’s house, or they could’ve gone together and taken the kid. Or Teddy could’ve covered Iain’s shift instead of Jacob, so he could look after his own grandson, leaving Jodie free to hit up Holby Tinder to her heart’s content…

Me too because they have totally bypassed me in yesterday's episode!!

There was an alarm going off from about 10 minutes in that sounded like an alexa timer noise, I was up and down until I realised it was the TV!

bakail · 14/07/2024 10:59

Jodie/whatsherface was a bit of a cow last night.

Yeah I don't know what the deal is with that

purpleme12 · 15/07/2024 22:48

Yes Jamie is definitely guilty.
And Cam knows it but doesn't want to face up to it.
I'm wondering if Jamie has sexually abused Cam too. And Cam can't face up to what's happened.
Very sinister the whole thing with Jamie

I very much think that was what happened.

She doesn't want to commit to Teddy while he thinks he's going to marry her. They're both about 21 so both sides are valid. He's just far more committed than she is.

I think Jamie probably assaulted Cam at some point unfortunately. It's fairly predictable at this point. If it's not happening now, it did at the time when he was running the youth centre when Bobby was raped. I wonder if Jamie is taking advantage of Cam while Cam is staying with him. Or if he also assaulted Cam who stayed quiet rather than taking it further and not being believed, like Bobby. They're similar in age. IDK, it's not going to be a "man is proven innocent" story is it at this point.

Jamie is a wrong 'un and Cam will expose him in some way, probably leading to Siobhan leaving the clinical lead role as they're buddy-buddy.

purpleme12 · 15/07/2024 23:38

Yes both sides are valid about what you say
But I still thought it was strange how she just went onto a dating site like that!

Lookingatthesunset · 15/07/2024 23:49

Teddy has only just come out of an engagement. He takes his relationships way too seriously! Jodie has always been flakey about men.

Why Cam would stay with Jamie now if he assaulted or raped him in the past, is hard to fathom.

purpleme12 · 15/07/2024 23:57

I get the impression that Cam has had some really positive attention from Jamie and nurturing when perhaps he hasn't had it from other people including his family.
So I think maybe it's all tangled up in this.
I'm sure there's some psychology behind it

The fact that Siobhan has him on her contacts list as "hubby" has made her plunge in my estimation.

EBearhug · 16/07/2024 00:17

If you're starting an affair, would you do it in the pub next to the place of work where your wife works and where all the staff drink?

Or did I miss that they were in a different pub?
