He's brilliant. I didn't like him much when he first arrived but he's my favourite character now by miles.

purpleme12 · 22/06/2024 12:54

Everyone loves Dylan

FizzingAda · 22/06/2024 20:20

I named my dog after him. Everyone thinks Bob, but I know 😉

spiderlight · 22/06/2024 22:15

DERVLA'S ALIVE!!!

Hellocatshome · 22/06/2024 22:40

Are we supposed to know the man in the car that Siobhan got into?

He's the fireman chasing after Stevie

Oh no! So thats not going to end well. And I dont understand whats going on with Mr Cleveland but I dont think that will end well either.

The one Siobhan has just told her to ring - not going to end well!!

FourLeggedBuckers · 23/06/2024 00:15

Wasn’t the whole exchange between jamie —Grover— Cleveland and Siobhan really odd? Is he going to turn out to be her son or something batshit?! 😂

He’s not the brightest spark if he thinks going straight to her and telling her to ease up on Cam is going to make his life easier. It’s all going to end in tears (obviously - Casualty 🙄).

The whole Faith and Iain thing is really tedious. I like Iain a lot but I cannot be arsed with her and her ridiculous entitlement.

I’m loving the little Ngozi subplot about thinking Dervla is Dylan’s girlfriend though! That’s delightful.

Oh my god I so did not get that!!

purpleme12 · 23/06/2024 00:21

Oh my god I so did not get that!!

My DD who I was watching with didn't get it either - she's missed a couple of eps - but I was screaming at the TV!!! OMG!! Siobhan has just encouraged Stevie to get with her own husband!!!

Whatthetrolley · 23/06/2024 05:22

I missed that too. I was IMDBing him to try and work out where I knew him from 🤦‍♀️

@FourLeggedBuckers i too thought he might be her son cause their relationship also seems a little weird. And the comment about "my mum told me to choose my battles" I thought that's when it was going to come out.

On a side note (because of the IMDBing) there's a 17 year age gap in real life between Siobhan and dodgy fire man.

Unless dodgy fireman is also not Siobhan's husband. Maybe he has multiple other women.

LouisCatorze · 23/06/2024 08:26

I think it's being made to look as if he's Siobhan's DH but suspect he may be her son, in the same way that Ngozi thinks Dervla is Dylan's wife/gf rather than dog! I can't remember if she leaned over to give him a kiss when she got into the car?

I liked Faith when she was introduced as a character but I've gone off her in a big way, as time's gone on. She strikes me as being needy and that's not really what Ian needs, although he is a 'rescuer' type in relationships (as well as in his day job), isn't he? And if you didn't remember it, you'd never know that there is past romantic history between her and Dylan, would you?

I don't know why but I really think that Jamie is not going to be good for Cam. He seems very supportive but think there's something else (undermining him in a very subtle way) going on.

So dodgy fireman could be her son or something then and he might not be dodgy after all?

Hellocatshome · 23/06/2024 08:34

I wasn't fully concentrating but I think they kissed in a not mother and son type way.

BlossomToLeaves · 23/06/2024 09:07

If dodgy fireman were Siobhan's husband, you'd think she'd have mentioned him/been concerned about it when she knew he was out saving people in the storm. And that he was at the same accident that Stevie went to, etc. Surely a husband in the fire service isn't something they wouldn't have mentioned in the year(?) that they've worked together, whether they like each other or not!

The mentor guy who is now on the board seems very slimy and sleazy, charming but wouldn't trust him at all, so I'm sure he's not good for Cam. The whole place doesn't seem to suit Cam very well, too needy. He needs a much more straightforward job I think.

I think Stevie is starting to become a bit of a caricature of herself almost - the hard-hearted, no emotion persona. It's like it has to be shoehorned in everywhere and they can't let her ever be soft or seem caring. She's always been so horrible though, and yet because she reminds me of a couple of nice Irish health care workers who looked after me, I can't quite shake that off that she should be nice underneath!! I missed a few years of casualty so don't really know the back stories of any of the characters or any of the connections. I've only started watching again recently because I've more time after injry, but I miss the old days when it was about the patients and interesting or unusual cases, not the soap opera of the staff.

FourLeggedBuckers · 23/06/2024 11:08

I thought Stevie seemed really very emotional for her in the last episode. She was clearly affected by the patient with MND and his wife, and their storyline. She was also quite kind to Siobhan with the whole coffee and a custard cream thing. I do think she’s fundamentally a nice - or perhaps decent - person.

Hellocatshome · 23/06/2024 11:10

Yes I think we have seen the softer side of Stevie quite a lot recently.

purpleme12 · 23/06/2024 11:29

Definitely

BlossomToLeaves · 23/06/2024 11:53

Yes I guess there have been soft moments, but somehow it's like they forget and then have to put something harsh in, and it never quite feels real, the hard heartedness, feels like it's playacting a stereotype or something. I was waiting for her to put her hand on the wife's shoulder, or to sound more sympathetic or something, but maybe that's as much as she could do.

But she was always a bit of a bitch before, qutie cruel at times almost, so maybe that would be too much of a character turn-around. It's hard to change a character and have it believeable I guess.

purpleme12 · 23/06/2024 11:56

I think it was believable for the Stevie character.

WhatICallMyUsername · 23/06/2024 12:40

Did Siobhan kiss him on the cheek? Could it be her brother if there's a 17 year age gap?

purpleme12 · 23/06/2024 12:46

I really think he is her husband

FourLeggedBuckers · 23/06/2024 12:58

I don’t think Stevie was ever really a bitch - by Casualty / Holby standards - and I rarely think she’s particularly harsh. I find her fairly believable and relatable, within the context of the show.

I think there’s quite enough unsolicited physical contact between staff and patients in Casualty. I don’t think it’s appropriate, so I find Stevie’s less soppy attitude more realistic, and desirable, than the more tactile characters.
