The mum was odd, and no mention of dad at alll? Strange . Dilly was ace .

Qwerty111 · 04/03/2025 22:43

I enjoyed this week’s one, we saw more of the planning for the house layout, and the plans were good.

Last week’s decisions seemed so odd… “This house is still jam packed full of shite, let’s add a climbing wall in the front room”.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 04/03/2025 22:53

It was a good episode but the mum was a horder. For all her 'I've done everything for everyone else' I thought she was actually quite selfish in making the house so unlivable in.

It looked better by the end but yes the dried flowers were awful and I wasn't keen on Stacey's bed canopy which would be another dust catcher.

That influencer was beyond cringy, she was loving being on the show so much 🙄

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 04/03/2025 22:56

And yes the daughters just enabled the mums hoarding! Which is what happens.

I felt sorry for the youngest dd who seemed sweet but is just bossed about by her sisters!

I gave you this crap cd so you have to keep it - wtf?!

I was so pleased for the young girl finally having such a lovely space.

To be honest, I understand that hoarding is an illness (or symptom of), but I can't imagine denying my child a comfortable, clean, and tidy home to live in.

😍*DILLY'S BACK😍
*
I lover her!

Not feeling the giddy influencer.

Great record snug for the youngest.

Rob is a boss.

Tonight's was better they're back on track but I agree a little rushed

wildfellhall · 04/03/2025 23:04

Love her not 'lover her' 🤷‍♀️

Who’s Zoe sugg?

Great to have Dilly back.

She’s Zoella - massive social media star, older sister of Joe Sugg (ThatcherJoe) and married other social media star Alfie Deyes. She’s had a few books, a range of cosmetics at Boots, and still has a very active social media channel.

DD (19) has been a fan since she was 12 so was VERY excited.

Brilliant to see Dilly back.

We laughed that this was the house of asexual reproduction as they only mentioned the gran, the mum and four daughters. No Y chromosomes to be seen.

Yet they all seemed very attached to The Joy of Sex book - so much so, it was there, pride of place, in the final reveal 😅

I actually bought the zoella advent calendar for my dd ! Didn’t realise that was her.

I think one daughter was at uni, their Dad wasn't spoken of

The dad will have buggered off I guess.

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 05/03/2025 01:00

That sister has to realise that the youngest one has her own likes and dislikes. Just because you give something as a gift doesn’t mean the recipient has to love it, or keep it.

Thought the overall vibe of the house was gorgeous, the pictures, the wallpaper, it looked so cosy.

the80sweregreat · 05/03/2025 05:40

I also didn't like the bed canopy or the dried flowers , but they were so enthusiastic about the make over and seemed a lovely family and it was a lot better after clearing all the clutter.
The constant hugging and the whole ' we only have ten minutes left' make me roll my eyes a bit though! Stacey is lovely, but I couldn't deal with all that myself.
I'd love to lay out all my things in a big warehouse though. It would be interesting to see how many things you do actually own.

wildfellhall · 05/03/2025 07:11

The grandma's armchair "she's still sitting there!" Was a tiny bit creepy.

I'm still not sure if there is an easy way to distinguish between a hoarder and someone who is overwind stuff because of being disorganized.

The hoarders who seem more unwell to me are the ones who won't give anything up and have rotting food and can't get to their beds at all.

Maybe there is a lot of grey area

the80sweregreat · 05/03/2025 07:23

I do feel that the mum just couldn't process the fact that her own mum had passed away.
I missed the first ten minutes, so I didn't know the full back story , but they were clearly close and she was holding on to the things as a sort of comfort blanket.
Putting Nan's radio of top of ' the joy of sex' book was a bit crass , but they didn't seem fazed by it!!
(I am a bit of an old prude though ! 😆 )
It's a good programme though and I'd love to know a work man to just make and mend things like they do !

hopeishere · 05/03/2025 07:39

To be fair it was only a year since the gran had died and if she had lived with them jt will have been even more of a wrench.

I do think they wee going to maybe focus more on the older daughter enabling the hoarding. The youngest was completely overshadowed by her sister's. I hate all the craft bits.

teaandakitkat · 05/03/2025 07:40

What did the mum say about that yellow mug: was it from the millennium dome or something?!?

I had the same yellow Millennium Dome mug. I left it behind by mistake when I moved out of a flatshare. I'm still a bit sad about that

I think the crafting is such nonsense filler and just serves to add more clutter

There are a couple of exceptions though- I loved when they made a bear from the bouncer chair fabric for one of the mums in a previous series. Things like that are really touching.

Cupcake liner lampshades and napkin candles... not so much

Belaymehearties · 05/03/2025 08:23

Dillys back - yay! Didn't like the dried flowers or canopy - dust traps! Nan's radio on top of "The Joy of Sex" made me spit out my tea! 🤣 I hope nan had a sense of humour from beyond the grave!
I don't think the mum had really processed her owns mums death yet. But I'm in a similar place with chucking out my own DMs nicknacks - holding onto "things" as you cant hold on to the person any more.
I wonder whether she'll start hoarding again once all the girls leave home. I do hope not as she deserves some space in her life to just "be".

NetZeroZealot · 05/03/2025 08:34

Can we talk about Stacey's hair?

For most of the episode she had awful grey roots, then at the end when they came back to the house for the big reveal she'd had it all done. I think she made a throwaway reference to it.

But if they stick with the one week time frame they say on the show there's no way she'd have had time to get it done - that's a minimum of 2 hours appointment.

Agree bed canopy & dried flowers were monstrous. They'd be straight out as soon as the cameras had left.

CandidFruit · 05/03/2025 09:19

But most likely, the mum and eldest daughter will be like "We have to keep those because they were made by SYLO!" 😆

wildfellhall · 05/03/2025 09:21

I know what you mean about the crafts but for cluttered people it's nice that some of the junk gets transformed into the new home, almost as if the stuff wasn't all rubbish, some of it is symbolically redeemed so the new house is connected with the old house.

I hated the bed canopy and the weird frames on a jangly chain hanging stick. Stacey loves a decor stick. They would have looked so much nicer just hung on nails. But they do love some quirk.

When it's done well I like it: teddy bear or blanket made from baby's old clothes, little memory box to store theatre tickets, nice memory boxes etc.

But cupcake cases glued to lampshades or old bottles cut up to store pens 😬 stuff like that drives me bonkers

LenaLamont · 05/03/2025 09:33

I liked the wall of pictures but I’d have preferred picture wire to chains. I think every time you shut the door the chain would jingle.

I think going all Victorian Maximalist when you have a house filled with china and knickknacks is the smart move. Something pared back would have made them miserable, and at least they have the things they love on display rather than it all towering over them.

The mum had been full time carer to her mother whom she had lived with throughout her children’s lives as well as her own childhood. It had been less than a year. She was in no way ready to process the loss.

The older sister needed to back the hell off. “But I gave it to you…”
Yes, sis, and now I am giving it to someone else.
