I've found more teaspoons. I think they ate breeding.

Thing is when she mocked the dessert spoon I thought that was daft. We have dessert spoons and soup spoons and we aren't posh.

I agree. I think that spoons you can eat with are divided into three sorts - teaspoons, soup spoons and dessert spoons - teaspoons for small things, boiled eggs etc (if you don't have specific egg spoons - well posh, that), soup spoons for soup, and dessert spoons for everything else. Dessert and soup spoons are more or less the same size, but the bowl is shaped differently.

So everyone has dessert spoons, even if they don't call them dessert spoons.

Downton Abbey? It’s Buckingham palace here!
I have two canteens of cutlery from DH’s gran he won’t let me get rid of but we never use.

One is a set of fish knives and forks. Half of us are left handed, we can’t use them. They have never once left the case in 17 years.

Also two full sets of dessert cutlery with cake slices and trifle servers and the whole thing, never used. I tried to get rid in the summer but no, back to the nether reaches of the cupboard they went.

Edited

I’m impressed! We keep having to buy more. The kids would take them in a packed lunches and the return rate was less than optimal.

Teaspoons are like socks, they just evaporate somehow if you’re not careful.

WAIT! Maybe that’s it!

The black hole that swallows all my teaspoons spits them out at @TickingAlongNicely ’s house!

TickingAlongNicely · 24/02/2025 12:53

The odd thing is I have only two teaspoons that match the rest of the cutlery. 😂

On a lighter note, if you follow Iwan's tip for unscrewing and cleaning the kitchen plughole... put a bucket underneath, & dont drop the screw into the u-bend Confused
As I've just discovered to my detriment...

Husbands a plumber and he hates to see people follow that tip , I mentioned unscrewing ours once he said for the love of God don't do it

I once did that to the bath.

Definitely don't do it to the bath.

wildfellhall · 24/02/2025 15:48

I did it yesterday - it was absolutely disgusting

ithinkicanithinkican · 24/02/2025 22:16

We did the sink thing too - it was most excellently disgusting! Very satisfying and now the sink drains far better. But definitely put a bucket underneath!

Yourethebeerthief · 24/02/2025 22:26

@Member984815

What does he recommend people do instead?

LenaLamont · 24/02/2025 22:37

I'm rather enjoying Stacey's bloke Joe doing the C4 version of Eat Well For Less.

It's called Batch from Scratch (or something similar - to do with prepping freezer dinners and so on). It's more Judgemental Telly to make you feel better about your own crap choices, and it's a distracting bit of fluff to keep me going until tomorrow's episode of SYLO.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 25/02/2025 12:45

I suspect that teaspoons morph into tupperware lids for boxes you don't possess, either in the drawer or in the dishwasher.

wildfellhall · 25/02/2025 13:25

Love this programme.

Is there a new one tonight?

RaraRachael · 25/02/2025 13:38

Yes it's on tonight as usual.
I'll have to record it as OH will be watching football 😡

Penguinmouse · 25/02/2025 14:00

Love SYLO, just caught up with the first episode of the new series. Thought the family seemed so nice and had been through so much with their baby loss.

CaptBirdsEar · 25/02/2025 20:07

Honestly, how do people live like this?

Yourethebeerthief · 25/02/2025 20:09

CaptBirdsEar · 25/02/2025 20:07

Honestly, how do people live like this?

Literally came on here to say the same thing. I cannot get my head around it. How do they let it happen?

It doesn't fill me with confidence that most of the people on the show keep their homes nice after the process 😔

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 25/02/2025 20:13

This won't solve what is a psychological issue, I don't think

Yourethebeerthief · 25/02/2025 20:16

I already really like them though 😊 I hope it is the kick up the bum they need to change everything for good

ithinkicanithinkican · 25/02/2025 20:25

I feel like they REALLY need Dilly this week.

MargaritaPracticallyCan · 25/02/2025 20:26

I did the plug thing after seeing it last week. Omg. In my 50 years I've never seen anything quite so disgusting in my house. Absolute filth 😷

NetZeroZealot · 25/02/2025 20:28

That woman has big psychological problems.
i can’t see Stacy fixing that.

ithinkicanithinkican · 25/02/2025 20:35

That tongue & groove panelling will be a nightmare to keep clean - not a good choice for someone who cooks a lot.

Yourethebeerthief · 25/02/2025 20:36

God, I know 😬

ithinkicanithinkican · 25/02/2025 20:39

This lady would really benefit from some therapy to help her deal with the root of her issues. You can see she knows she has a problem, but it will take more than an episode of SYLO to work through it. I hope she gets the support she needs.
