They would have said ring the council to check though not landlord surely?

Council/landlord - same thing.

Did anyone else think it was a bit inappropriate of Stacey to be asking a 14 year old if she had a boyfriend? Just me?

Yes she is too overfamiliar

Not if it's a private landlord.

Well it is for the purpose of the show.

wildfellhall · 13/02/2025 22:54

But I would love to know how many people come in to do all that work - there must be a huge number doing all that painting etc.
so the final team hug also happens off camera with a hundred people

Hotdayinjuly · 13/02/2025 22:56

Found this episode a bit lacking in something, perhaps it’s just run it’s course. Hope it picks up.

I will never tire of watching people chuck out their old tat 😅

Someone locally to me is offering to declutter and sort. I hate doing anything like that and badly need it, so seriously considering paying as a service.

I have too much stuff and I am really finding it difficult to let go of it. This show really helps motivate me, but I need a final push!

Dilly has a franchise business, I think - you could get the Dilly-approved decluttering service!

There are 6 decluttering businesses within our area. I am not sure they how they keep a family afloat, given the number of them and the potential client base. Maybe it’s like the cupcake businesses of 15 years ago - a side income for most and a full time business for a few.

FortuneFaded · 14/02/2025 03:02

@LenaLamont Thanks, I will look into that.

SwankyPants · 14/02/2025 12:18

I wonder how you declutter for someone. They'd need to look through everything wouldn't they?
And then where do you find the room?
Must admit I love decluttering!

They get a chair, I have several bags/boxes.
We tackle one drawer or at a time, on a bed or table where possible, and I hold up stuff for “keep, bin, charity”. Things like multiple clothes, we’ll decide ahead of time how many are staying (and mentally add 20% because people are shite at sticking to their limits). Then plough through things until we hit the magic number and the rest goes straight into charity bags.

Pack rat father (mum used to keep it in check), pack rat in-laws, chronically indecisive young adult, so I’ve had more practice than I’d like at this.

stargazer02 · 15/02/2025 08:03

@FortuneFaded even if you go with getting a decluttering coach in, I'd like to recommend Clutterbug YouTube channel. She has a lot of very good videos that pump you up to get rid of stuff. Also has lots of organising and cleaning too, but I listen to hers a lot. And a few others on same topic - Dana K White "a slob comes clean" and The Minimal Mom. The three of them do a year round decluttering course that's great and a small financial commitment (if you get it on sale, and it goes on sale often) Vs a coach who will be in your house. I give them a lot of credit for helping me on my way to being an ex-hoarder.

Watching a SYLO still freshens my urge to get stuff out though 😁 my kids would love to have the team here and are a bit disappointed we don't have enough clutter anymore!

TheAverageJoanne · 17/02/2025 23:26

The daughter Annabelle is 14? She looks much older.

AlvisParsley · 18/02/2025 14:07

I felt for the daughter as I have three brothers & always got lost an overlooked in what they were doing.

CocoPlum · 18/02/2025 14:18

I love this show so much ... although regarding the number of mugs, it seemed arbitrary. I would have said "you can fit X mugs on the shelf, so that's how many you can keep".

I did wonder why Iwan wasn't cleaning and was at the warehouse this week??

Ran out of cleaning tips is my bet. He seems to be doing more DIY recently and doesn’t really have a defined role as much as the others.

Were you hearing the announcement after Eastenders ?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 18/02/2025 20:13

Yes. She has just said she has Stage 4 cancer.

Ah no I missed the very beginning and have just tuned in to hear her saying that. Bloody hell 😔

They are the loveliest family, it’s so sad

CaptBirdsEar · 18/02/2025 20:29

Very sad

Partridgewell · 18/02/2025 21:08

Devastating. What a lovely family. Cancer wrecks so many lives. I dream of a day where it's just an inconvenience rather than a potential death sentence. My mum died before I got married or had kids and it's the greatest sadness of my life, but at least she (just about) saw me into adulthood.

Bryonyberries · 18/02/2025 21:51

Made me shed a tear. My dad had a year of cancer treatment (thankfully in remission at the moment) and that was hard going. I have a colleague currently being investigated for cancer and her youngest is only 6yo. Such a hard road.
