Can anyone explain the harry shield connection, I couldn't work it out at all and how it influenced anyone.

I don’t know, Harry’s in the army and they drill it in to them to do what they’re ordered to do and not question it, so it was probably easier for him to concentrate on being a traitor and push any feelings of guilt aside.

I also can't help wondering whether being one of a large number of siblings means you have learned to sidestep blame, keep your head down, deny all knowledge of any wrongdoing, and let others tie themselves in knots.

It seems a make female dynamic to be let down and hurt by a reveal they are a traitor.

Where it's been 2 males who were good mates and 1 was a traitor they seem far more "you bastard, good game" about it all and good friends afterwards.

I think Claudia and Ed are trying to get Mollie presenter as fine as the other option is she is to be pitied. Far better for her to be all "it's only a game and he played well" like everyone else seems to be doing.

I wonder of Johnny had been recruited if things would have been different in that Harry would NOT want to get him banished as fellow brothers in arms.

I don't want to give any spoilers from other countries but this isn't always the case.

No, he would have slung Johnny under the bus just as easily.

FiveFoxes · 27/01/2024 11:32

Regarding the "spoiler", I heard it as him saying it was that particular theory that got rid of traitorS (plural) and therefore assumed that Evie would get banished.

I didn't mind having a mini spoiler though - it added to the show for me and thinking ahead about what would happen (and hoping they'd work out the shield clue as a result). I didn't sleep much on Thursday night planning Jaz's winning speech about how Harry had to be a traitor as a result! If only Jaz had put as much thought into it as me!!

crabbyoldbat · 27/01/2024 11:33

As for people taking it too seriously, and taking the fun out of it (as @Dotellhimpike commented) - I mostly agree, but I can see why people here on MN feel Mollie's position strongly - we've mostly women, and we've all been daft 20-somethings, screwed over by a pretty face, so it takes us back to our feelings back then.

He got the shield and showed it to a few people so they knew he had it (Mollie saw him get it so she already knew). The next morning, after recruiting Ross, he explained the fact they were all there at breakfast by him having the shield, saying the Traitors must have tried to murder him and failed. Then later he said the Traitors couldn't be anyone who knew about the shield, because if those people were Traitors, they wouldn't waste the murder. It pointed the finger at those who hadn't known.

Sorry but what TV show did you think you were watching?

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Reading that has just made me realise - Harry really thought Jaz was his ally, didn't he? And Zack was his perfect flying monkey.

Well played!

burnoutbabe · 27/01/2024 11:40

@NonPlayerCharacter actually at breakfast wasn't it Zach who suggested this (though it was Harry's plan)

It was a clever plan -brave to implement as you beer to be sure there are no real flaws. It may have gone wrong if Ross said no. But still not identified anyone as a traitor

@WriterOfWrongs where are you watching S2 of the US?

I watched the first 2 episodes on daily motion but can't find the third.

I have a paid subscription with Peacock.

Ha so true! Perhaps as well as Mollie, other young women watching will have learned something!

Great points- probably both helped.

keiratwiceknightly · 27/01/2024 11:44

Aside here: does anyone know when this is filmed? I feel like the outside shots looked like early autumn (or even the summer) and that would make sense due to Scottish winter weather being so unpredictable. Plus Claudia is v tied up with Strictly in the approach to winter. Yet if that's the case, how is leakage avoided? I wondered if everything except the final round tables is filmed months ago and then the denouement was a few days ago... but that would collapse the tension and intensity.

napody · 27/01/2024 11:45

shreknjumps · 27/01/2024 11:25

It's Jaz with a Z.

Why can't anyone, including the players, spell their bloody names?!

Ha I started off spelling it as Jaz on this thread and then changed to Jas as that's what everyone else was doing and I assumed I was wrong.

My suggestibility has confirmed to me (although I already knew) that I'd be TERRIBLE on the show!

I'd be Zach 💯. So into it and thinking I'd cracked it.

aSofaNearYou · 27/01/2024 11:45

@ILostMy20s I was referring to other countries series, too, where I feel overall there have been two men and one woman at the start more often than not. But anyway my knickers aren't in a twist about it, it was just an observation.

MotherofGorgons · 27/01/2024 11:46

Jas/Jaz is most likely Jaswinder. He is Sikh. So Jas.

Then later he said the Traitors couldn't be anyone who knew about the shield, because if those people were Traitors, they wouldn't waste the murder. It pointed the finger at those who hadn't known.

And those who apparently hadn't known were Ross, Jasmine and Evie. All three were banished so everyone then knew that Ross was a traitor and Jasmine and Evie were faithfuls.

There was a murder (Zach) after Ross had been banished. Therefore there was definitely still a traitor (weirdly no one seemed to realise this last night!)

As there was another traitor apart from Ross, it blew apart the shield theory because a traitor would have known Harry had the shield and therefore they hadn't tried to murder him. Therefore there must have been a recruitment instead.

Whilst it doesn't make Harry a traitor necessarily, it does look more suspicious. A bit of a coincidence...

Are you telling him how to spell his own name? 🤣 well arrogant mate, you'd make a good traitor.

I know. Which proves I'm Paul. A total wind up merchant.

(Considered spelling Paul wrong but I'm going to know when to stop).

No, but as an Asian myself, I find it really annoying when people anglicise their own names to make it easier for white people to pronounce. I have seen his name spelt differently on different media.
