Jack and Stacey are both despicable. The Denise mad woman saga is a lurid sensationalist melodrama, the walking through the forest scene straight out of Inside No. 9. I might have to give up on EE altogether.

muckandnettles · 22/02/2024 10:16

Surely Jack has had the snip by now? He only has to take his boots off, as my dm used to say!

Twonewcats · 22/02/2024 14:45

a double pronged meat thermometer.

I still don't see where the writers can go with this - 6 of the biggest characters all involved in a murder and concealing the body really was a daft idea, given the lengths they're pushing the story to. And I def don't see it lasting until the big anniversary. Also remember, Nish is totally on to them, and various characters have commented on how much time the 6 are spending together.

They're all unravelling more with each episode -

  • Denise won't last like this, and has told whatshisname
  • Suki - appears strong but her hair is still coming out in clumps
  • Stacey - abs will not be able to resist the incredibly unsexy Jack
  • Linda - falling apart before our eyes
  • Sharon - won't cope for much longer, when the reality of no Keanu etc sinks in fully
  • Kathy - was upset seeing her Valentine's card - and won't cope with the caff being run by Nish/knowing there's a body under it

I can't help thinking think she's overacting massively !

Agree. I’ve been fast forwarding through the silly visits to Lucas and the hand-wringing scenes

Anyone can have a breakdown. Especially if you do not sleep for weeks. It is pure torture . Denise is probably menopausal, husband having an affair and witnessed a killing and keeping ‘ the secret’ has pushed her over the edge.It is usually a number of issues overwhelming the person. You are being very blasé about mental health and resilience.
I said when it happened I think they will all crack up in their own way.

No, I’m not being blasé. I just know shit characterisation (and poor acting) when I see it.

DahliaMacNamara · 22/02/2024 16:07

I've already watched the Thursday episode as I'll be out tonight, and without giving anything away, in my albeit limited experience, Denise's behaviour rang pretty true today.

muckandnettles · 22/02/2024 10:16

Surely Jack has had the snip by now? He only has to take his boots off, as my dm used to say!

Or hang his trousers on the bedpost, as mine used to say.😄

Bunionbabe · 22/02/2024 16:19

What category of 'mental health/breakdown' is D supposed to be suffering from? Is her behaviour typical of that diagnosis or is she just acting default mad woman?

kerstina · 22/02/2024 16:38

I am not a professional but I have had to be sectioned when I lost the plot. My diagnosis was acute anxiety and depression. I think her symptoms are similar in not being able to calm down , not being able to sleep. Losing your inner peace which is hard to explain unless you have experienced it. I can’t remember it so clearly now but I know God and religion was in my thinking too like Denise is.
so I don’t think the script writing is too bad actually.

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2024 18:38

My own theory ( for what it's worth and I haven't any experience myself ) is losing her necklace in Keanu's grave and now Johnny being involved and the thermometer murder weapon going missing. It's been a bit of a domino effect on her ( plus jacks short affair and the hallucinations)
It's all crept up on her
Not sure about the religious thing , seeing Lucas may have triggered that one or Yolande taking her to the church etc , but obviously she is ill and needs some kind of help or medication etc.

Hope things better for you now kerstina. It's interesting to know that D's behaviour isn't too far off the mark. Thanks.

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2024 19:07

It must have been so frightening for you Kerstina.
I also hope you're much better now and these particular episodes haven't been too triggering for you.

kerstina · 22/02/2024 19:31

Thank you .No I haven’t found it triggering . Just pray I never have an episode like that again. It is like being in hell in your own head. am interested to see where the story line goes.

kerstina · 22/02/2024 20:00

Very sad episode tonight. Lots of tears watching tonight’s .

Exactly what I came on to say. Very sad episode tonight 😢

YuleDragon · 22/02/2024 20:08

its annoying, not sad.

EE doing its usual of forgetting what a character did. "You did this!" to jack.

so.. yes, he had an affair. but are we forgetting she turned to moaning about being neglected when Amy was self harming and Jack was trying to help her, had an affair with Ravi, then got obsessed about Ravi having murdered whatshisface and caused all kinda of scenes over chelsea's relationship with him.

Their marriage has been on the rocks for over a year, but its his fault? Nah.

Johnny obviously has the weapon, i don't yet know why he's trying to manipulate his mum, but i'm tired of the shady shit with them all atm.

lazymum99 · 22/02/2024 20:09

I think they really dealt with that well. Very sad.
what an idiot Suki is saying we will get some meds off the internet and look after her ourselves

lazymum99 · 22/02/2024 20:11

Denise saying ‘you did this’ to Jack doesn’t mean a thing. She is in the deep of a psychotic episode she is not going to say rational stuff

YuleDragon · 22/02/2024 20:11

she's been blaming him since the first time he slept with her like she never did anything.

Jellykat · 22/02/2024 20:20

I agree, its not Jacks fault, hes a cheating twat, but it really started with the necklace.

Johnny so has the weapon, plus wouldnt surprise me if hes the one that called the mental health team on Denise, to freak out his mum.. Think he wants her vulnerable and to rely on him for some twisted reason.. maybe Denise is right about one thing, Johnny is a wrong 'un

kerstina · 22/02/2024 20:26

I think it was Stacey who phoned the mental health team as she is the one who has experienced of dealing with it. I took Denise saying it’s your fault to mean the fact she was being taken away? Not that the breakdown was his fault.

YuleDragon · 22/02/2024 20:26

Johnny has the starting edge of feeling like he's trying to isolate her from the others, but yes, sinister vibes from him entirely.

the80sweregreat · 22/02/2024 20:29

Johnny used to be nice !
Totally different character now

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 22/02/2024 20:56

I think Stacey called them as she knows she needs help that no amount of meds from the net can do.

Kathy is getting on my nerves, she's not that heartless her own son had a breakdown. I'm glad Ian referenced that when he offered to help.

But it was such a sad episode.

Jellykat · 22/02/2024 21:02

Ahaa, i mustve missed the Stacey clue re calling the medical team!
