Anyone starting this today? It's with Michelle Keegan. 8 Episodes.

Just finished. I thought Michelle Keegan was good in it and Lily was adorable.

It hooked me and did a good job of leading you down several trails. But the end felt rushed and disappointing . Plus a few plot holes.

I'm clearly the last to finish watching this!

I really liked Kierce. I really cared what happened to him.

So, in terms of Maya and Kierce....there must have been some understanding between them on some level, that she was likely to be killed. I understand why she feels she deserves punishment, and I was initially puzzled when she put the gun down...but then I got it.

But why didn't he go with her? Was he really shocked that happened, or are we to assume there was an unspoken understanding? I know he said "why didn't I go with her" but I'm not sure he meant it. Baby on the way etc, perhaps he didn't want to walk into that situation in case he got killed?

Watching E6 but am losing interest. RA OK for part but MK too young and not really a character actor which I feel was needed for this part, a younger version of Nicola Walker would have been better (can't think of anyone though).

MK is 36? She's not too young for the role?

Mistymornin · 27/01/2024 12:09

@EmmaEmerald MK has taken away any facial characteristics by having work done on her face 🤷🏻‍♀️ IMO

martinisforeveryone · 27/01/2024 12:13

I agree. Personally I find MK's work quite free of emotion. Her performances have little depth or gravitas and mostly seem to just go through the motions.

I haven’t read other comments but anyone else think she played the role of a mother well? She doesn’t have children does she?

MyopicBunny · 27/01/2024 23:28

I thought the opposite - I thought she was not at all believable as a mother even though I quite liked her otherwise.

I agree she seems to have no connection or thought for the child. But I wondered if that was the character rather than the acting

How the hell... sorry, wrong thread.

Have finally managed to place where I recognise the bearded Irish friend from. He was a police officer in The Tower. He's also in Safe, another HC series on Netflix. Watched the end of Safe this weekend - Fool Me Once is the far better series of the two.

He's also in the deceived on Netflix which is great if you enjoy dubious mystery dramas (which I very much do!)

I really liked Michelle keegan in Fool me Once! And I wouldn't cry if I woke up looking like her tomorrow.

FrancisSeaton · 03/02/2024 17:31

Just watched this and found it quite frankly nonsensical at best and utterly pathetic at worst. What a waste of 8 hours I will never get back

helpnohelpno · 06/02/2024 21:48

I think he was on holly oaks a few years ago.

I've started Stay Close which is quite good.

AQuantityOfNaughtyCats · 08/02/2024 21:03

I assume the school scenes were a direct translation from the American book as British public school boys would never play football for the school- rugby, cricket or hockey yes, but never football. Also don’t know why everyone didn’t go to the police rather than play Nancy drew.

My son went to a British public school, he played football for the school team (and cricket and rugby).

superoz · 09/02/2024 16:14

Just finished this but my god it was so drawn out and a load of tosh. Maya was such an annoying character, threatening everyone she came across and totally unconvincing as an army captain.
The only saving grace was Adeel Akhtar who acted everyone off the screen.

Edited

I’m genuinely surprised, none of the ones I’ve encountered would even think about football as a worthy sport for gentlemen. Possibly for girls but not otherwise.

lollipoprainbow · 11/02/2024 16:18

Just finished ! I was waiting for something to happen with the son Claire had when she was younger and nothing came of it. Strange.

lollipoprainbow · 11/02/2024 16:18

Also thought Joanna Lumley was wooden.

lollipoprainbow · 11/02/2024 16:28

Even when she was shot dead she still looked immaculate ! Just a bit of a trembling lip and eyes.

When she pulled the coaches pants down, that's got to be one of the most ridiculous things i've seen in a long time.

Me too! Apparently the story line was to give her an excuse to tour a secondary school!

I thought that! So unrealistic, people would have been disgusted by her, and not laughed. Absolutely ridiculous

drwitch · 12/02/2024 11:16

I enjoyed it but thought it was another parody at first (like the women across the street in the window) so many plot holes (sorry red herrings) and none of the twists were believable ex post
