I think he was adopted, later. His mum said something like "oh that bit was all okay" when he asked about the adoption. And she also said they made it official further down the line. At first they were paid to foster him, not adopt him. From reading some of the articles it sounds like African parents would willingly (?) have their children fostered in the short-term, whilst they found themselves stable homes, jobs etc in Britain. I'm guessing not all children were reunited and not all of their birth families had any say in this.

For someone that has been living in France since being a child ( presumably going to school there, etc), Penny's french pronunciation is terrible. They should stop trying to make the poor actress talk in French.

I was thinking the same (and I only have schoolgirl French). If she’d been brought up there, she’d speak it fluently without an accent, surely. So they shouldn’t bother and just let her speak English.
The drug smuggling thing doesn’t really make sense to me either. They seem to be making out it’s part of a larger smuggling operation, but it was only a small packet, and pretty amateurish to stick it in someone’s luggage (rather than hide a large shipment in a lorry or a boat).

Do we think Son will have something wrong with her. Blondes will know, do they do scans, etc, pre IVF and would spot abdominal issues, or is it purely reproductive investigation?

Egg transfer 29 dec (when embryos were 16 days old) so never going to work - should be 5:6 days

Nurse Sonja should know not to test too early. Esp as clinic tell you not to or else the trigger shot can be in your body and show a false positive

They will make mistakes in EE, as all people in real life do.

I don't think it was a mistake though as Reiss kept on.
I think it was so Son could test with Whitters there, go on about how awful it was and Whitney will realise how lucky she is etc

The writers or the ones casting it for this soap should have tried to have found a fluent French bi lingual actress ! It would have made a change.
I can forgive Anna and Gina as they ( might ) have gone to an international school where Spanish isn't always the first language etc , but with Penny she has lived there as a toddler
I can vaguely remember her mum being able to speak French when they went over to visit her , but might be wrong!

I am a bit bored already of the Lauren story and I'm sure Peter will try and win her back
Beyond bored of Reiss too and the way Sonia speaks to him is very belittling ( although I can see why she it )

I think she's made the wrong decision trying for a baby with him and I bet that Debbie will wake up too and be really unhappy he used her money to have IVF with Sonia and hopefully kill him off ! Lol

The thing with Gina and Anna is that we haven't heard them speak Spanish. I was raised bilingual, born and raised in France with an English mum/ French dad. I sound French when I speak French but English when I speak English.
So it doesn't bother me that speaking in their mother tongue the girls would have retained their accent, especially as the the household would likely have been English speaking.
We often had kids join school that had moved from other countries and didn't speak French, they were all fluent within a year and had no accents, probably because of the total immersion and that they were learning by mimicking us ( French) .
Also Penny and the woman were talking English in the Paris scenes so there's no reason why can't communicate in that language.

I'd assumed Penny was speaking French on the phone in case she was overheard, thinking no one would have any French. Sadly Peter had one word that sounds v similar to the English equivalent.

They seem to have chosen someone who looks a lot like Lauren.

Agree with pp about Reiss being a bore and this IVF story not making any sense.

But have to disagree about Penny. 1. I think she is gorgeous and better looking than Lauren. 2. Her French (accent) wasn't that bad considering she was probably mixing with other English speakers the whole time she was living in France.

Don't like her personality at all though. The way she is using her disability to get up to all sorts of illegal activities is really not OK imho.

@Gwenhwyfar I could say the same for dh. He had 3 in their 20's when met me.

I had unexplained infertility and was about to do ivf with dh1 when he sadly died

Later I met now dh2 and discussed a baby and he was willing

We now have mini blondes almost 7 💕

So Sonja is doing it for reisss as well

Penny and Lauren look very alike as cousin can do

Plus as jack called max - obv about Lauren - does that mean max will be back

We said that about penny when she was mentioned a while back and poof she's back

Eddie mentioning, when it wasn’t necessary, that the attackers were black is something that was really well observed by the writers. That kind of casual racism is so common in all contexts. JK Rowling still does this in some of her books, but some authors are too big to be edited.
