The Crown - season 6

Is anyone else looking forward to this? The first part of the final season is on Netflix from 16th November (four episodes), and the second part (six episodes) from 14th December.

I thought the previous series was a bit boring so I'm hoping for more drama this time round.

While waiting for the finale we went to see Wonka tonight and lo and behold up popped Olivia Coleman! Have to say she played her role similarly to The Queen! And they should be world's apart!

Hasnet Khan was in it, but I didn’t pick up that it was a relatively long term relationship- it came across more as a couple of dates before he got cold feet because he didn’t want the publicity.

The relationship lasted about two years. Do watch the film, 'Diana', it is very good and gives more detail. Quite a sad business really.

On the other hand, she is also known to have gone after the likes of James Hewitt, Bary Mannakee, James Gilbey and Oliver Hoare. Her staff used to talk about the "revolving door" at her apartment at Kensington Palace.

Oliver Hoare's wife told of how Diana used to turn up unannounced and just sit there silently until she (the wife) left the room, whereupon Diana would suddenly go into animated conversation with Hoare. She was clearly targeting him.

Bary Mannakee was mad about her while he was her protection officer early in her marriage but there was no affair, the then Prince of Wales sacked him because he was too gooey eyed over her. James Gilbey was part of her friendship group before she was engaged to Charles.

We know Diana was not a saint but there's no point in making her out to be worse than she was. She started the affair with Hewitt after she had the children and Charles was firmly entrenched in his relationship with Camilla. Who can blame her? She was young and yearning for love.

I think there was an affair with Mannakee - she’s on saying “I was only happy when he was around” and his death was “the biggest blow of my life”.

She apparently made dozens of nuisance calls to Oliver Hoare after he tried to end their fling.

She did lean on him, he was someone she could talk to but he really had a crush on her. They didn't get physical and of course it was a blow when he died, he was her friend at a time when she was extremely lonely and vulnerable.

Yes, Oliver Hoare was an affair.

Will Carling was another one who was obsessed with Diana but said there was no affair. His wife was fed up with him mooning over her and I don't blame her.

Looking forward to watching the new episodes, but it's strange how there seems to be so little interest now compared to previous seasons.

It's not as good as it was, sure, but it's still the ending of a huge show.

I was a bit distracted watching the first episode in the scenes with 15 year old William as the actor who plays him is clearly no longer a teenager.

The depiction of Carole Middleton wasn't exactly flattering. The worst thing as she strikes me as someone who may watch it as a guilty pleasure. Will probably be throwing Quality Streets at the telly over the festive period whilst watching

Wasn’t Harry 12 in 1997 (episode 1)? Why was he offering Wills a whiskey and then sitting down with what looked like a miniature bottle of Gordons to drink neat…?

It made them both look around the same age (and a lot older than I think they were just after Diana’s death, if I’ve got my numbers right)

Agree about this, the actor is a good likeness. Do we think she really orchestrated it to this extent?
I agree some of the episodes are a bit slow.
