I have a lot to say, but just heading out the door. I will return with MANY thoughts.

OP posts:

I find the whole thing extremely spacially confusing. The first few episodes made it seem tiny and remote.

In fact its whole space-time continuum confuses my brain.

BrandyandGinger · 03/12/2023 23:18

Yes, in the first episodes Mel was living in the wrecked old cabin but then Brady was renting a really cool place and hasn't Muriel moved in to the new doctor's place? Where did all the rental properties come from?

Suspend disbelief and watch with copious amounts of mulled wine…

who was looking after Mel’s ‘pony’ all day whilst they feasted at Jack’s bar?
who cooked all that food anyway?

why did Muriel and Cameron need to have the conversation about not starting a family…I mean that kindly.

Was Charmaine staying in the surgery overnight with the twins? If so, who on earth was staying with her, as Mel and Doc appeared to get on with their days? Did they just lock up and leave her there?

I can’t unsee Cameron and Muriel’s performance at the show…who knew Virgin River had its own theatre too?

Clearly a new season is on its way.

Not that it makes it any less ridiculous really, but apparently an ambulance was coming to take Charmaine to hospital and her aunt, was it? Was coming too.

StillCreatingAName · 04/12/2023 00:52

I must have missed that reference, I was too busy drinking away the pain from having my toes so curled up during Cameron and Muriel’s performance.

And wouldn’t season one Doc have known Mel’s father by his name, as they are the only surgery serving the community and wider areas. No need to get the secret investigator on the case, they would have all known him, surely?

marcopront · 04/12/2023 03:23

If it was so easy for Mel and Jack to find out champ's name why wouldn't the postmaster have done it?
Also how did he remember the details so easily

mrsfeatherbottom · 04/12/2023 22:26

Was expecting more than just two new episodes. Bit rubbish.

Loopytiles · 05/12/2023 07:24

Only 7 months 😆

Yes! Why even bother to split it!

Melodyy · 06/12/2023 09:24

I just cant believe Charmaine ain't have that damn baby yet. It's getting ridiculous now 😪

Netaporter · 06/12/2023 11:44

@Melodyy err - she has? That’s what the latest chat is about….

ThePlantKiller · 06/12/2023 12:27

@Melodyy she had them in the last episode

Easy to miss the 2 minutes when her waters finally broke and she gave birth with a couple of pushes and a deep breath inbetween the two births.

*She then hugged a hot cocoa, wrapped in a cosy blanket gifted by the VR knitting circle whilst the rest of the VR community sung Christmas carols in the waiting room. Doc and Mel sipped on some egg nog-brought in by Jack- as they waited for the placenta which was expected to deliver by Easter, in keeping with the pregnancy timeline.

*maybe. Entirely possible in VR.

Nothing annoys me more than woman on tv giving birth within minutes of having ‘contractions’ and always ON HER BACK.
Also the placenta never exists.

BrandyandGinger · 09/12/2023 23:06

I'm tired but I have to stay up because I'm collecting a DC from a party later. This is the exact perfect time for the Christmas episode of Virgin River.
I like Mel's red knitted scarf. I might buy myself one for a stocking filler.

Loopytiles · 09/12/2023 23:21

😀Easiest twin elephant birth ever!

Aided by saint mel’s perfect midwifery skills and stepford wife emotional range.

BrandyandGinger · 09/12/2023 23:28

I just got to the bit where Muriel said she doesn't want kids. The actress is 61.

BrandyandGinger · 09/12/2023 23:33

If she had managed to steal Doc from Hope she would have been a step-great-grandma to Lizzie's baby.

Yes 🤣

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 31/12/2023 10:50

Just finished VR. Great thread! So we know Mels Dad, what was it he wanted to say? I think he looks like Vernon, maybe they are brothers? Which makes her Denny's Dad's cousin and connected to Lizzies baby. Or maybe her Dad is also Calvin's Dad which makes her the twins aunt. Or he was Lily's baby daddy which makes her baby Chloes aunt. I'm trying to think of all the scenarios where someone with a child will die tragically and in their dying breath ask Mel to be the child's mother. I thought it would be Charmaine, but I think its inevitable at some point.

Why oh why did they include Muriel's line about not wanting kids. Surely she could have just said she doesn't want to stop Cameron from having a family of his own. It's made an already unrealistic series completely farcical and has totally put me off.

Everyone has beautifully styled hair especially the one dating Brady who lived in a tent up a mountain.

Preacher is always seen as unlucky in love but considering the timeline he is quite the opposite.

They never dicuss childcare. Tara went off to a new city with a baby starting a new job in the morning but no mention of what was happening with the baby.

Can't stand Hope, I wish they killed her off.

pontipinemum · 01/01/2024 19:13

@Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong mel + jack kept talking about having a child, did they discuss adoption? I can't remember it.
I also thought the Muriel not wanting kids thing was absolutely ridiculous. Cameron is a doctor, surely he knows that ship has sailed! Just saying she didn't want to hold him back made more sense.

What do we think the important thing Mels dad wants to tell her is?

I was so confused by this!
Thought I must have got her age wrong but no, when I looked up how old she was supposed to be, it wasn't really having a child age!

SnowFrogJelly · 17/06/2025 00:59

Umm zombie thread

purpleme12 · 17/06/2025 01:00

Oh sorry
