I have a lot to say, but just heading out the door. I will return with MANY thoughts.

I always try to think of the least likely scenario and for some reason, poor Bert came to mind on this occasion 😅 I am happy to be proven wrong! However, I've grown fond of wee Bert now, especially after his behaviour when Lizzie and Denny's car got caught up in the wildfire!

I thought that too, even when she went to the clinic for the D&C I thought there'd be a plot twist of "nope, everything's fine!!"

Also, as if they would have all those fireworks at the carnival approximately 24 hours after a wildfire nearly killed them all!?
The timeline messes with my head and Charmaine has the gestation period of an elephant 🤣
Also, saw an article with an Instagram post of Martin Henderson and Alexandra Breckenridge and I no longer fancy him..

🤣 yes this made me properly laugh out loud. It was as though Mel and Jack had been together years.

Maybe their lack of chemistry might be because they’re related🤪

Let’s also go with Calvin as Mel’s dad, as I find the idea the baby twins will be Mel’s siblings and therefore Jack’s BILs if he stays with Mel, absolutely hilarious (and plausible in VR, where daily life is not lived in any linear way). 🤣

Wait how old is Calvin?

Whilst Calvin doesn’t look as old as Vernon, consider that Virgin River time is like dog years, so a few months (or is it years?) after the boat explosion could have aged him considerably.

David Cubitt who plays Calvin is 58 so could be Mel’s father on that basis.

I just can't see Calvin writing love letters to Mel's mum but who knows? 🤣 Maybe he's got a soft interior not yet seen!

Can I just boast that I’ve actually been to “ Jacks Bar” and where they film the opening credits ? It’s just as beautiful as it looks . Didn’t see anybody from V R though !

That’s a good boast- so the outside of buildings, I presume the interior set is in a studio somewhere. Is it all in once close area and really a bar?
it really looks such a gorgeous place, but unlike Stars Hollow where I would move tomorrow, Virgin River has an undercurrent of weirdness, drugs, vibe they’d hate incomers and other reasons I wouldn’t live there. Presumably in real life it’s a good place?

The bar is really a bar .. but yes the interior is a set . I think the show is filmed in many locations all pieced together to look like one. But it’s stunning there ( think the bar is in Squamish)

I'm still watching S5 but I'm totally shocked by the fact that the actor who plays Preacher is 53. 53!

Yes. I was thinking that Jack is showing his age a bit this season so I looked up the actors on IMDB and Preacher in real life is older than Jack in real life.

I am thinking the Mel's father thing could be something to do with the middle sister having died. Maybe the dad was carrying something that he didn't pass onto the older sister but after the 2nd DD died they worried he could pass it on again?

Just finished it with DD this evening. We Lolled at Jack now being able to fly a plane as well as everything else.

Contenders for Mel’s Dad: First thought, Bert because he was name-checked so many times this series. Nick (fits in with the childless couple storyline like Vernon and Hope), could be Lily’s husband but also could be the older chap who owned the plane? For sure, they are adopting Chloe I reckon.

Poor old Preacher, he’s going down after the body is discovered I think. Love the implausibility of Denny being at Stanford but not getting a job with Bert 😂

@Sidebeforeself so jealous of you! DD and I are going on a road trip to the US next year and we discussed trying to find the bar.
