poor lexi. Least she has jay

Lily is now maybe 6mths preg and still no ss about 🙄🙄

Denise and Jack made up and Chelsea and Ravi are making out

Stacey is still poor tho still not sure why

Stacey burger van cleaning
Jean cleaning
Harvey taxi
Freddy fish shop
Eve on nish payroll

yet always in the pub

Reiss has a secret wife Debbie who will have to die

it hard he’s a boring pompous fart. Sonja deserves someone more sexy. He needs a shave and glasses to go and then he’s sexy. But still a drip

suki and eve seem to have stopped for the moment

Linda and mum running the pub. And sure her old man will come soon

freddie and his adhd needed to be sorted

Phil is still soooooo rich and giving money to one and all - wish I had his money tree ans now paying for the funeral and I assume will help with the rent

Aww I watched it on Iplayer just now and it was a lovely episode although the actor who plays Jay is a terrible crier but apart from that it was a great episode.

I wonder if Ben was supposed to be away or the actor was off sick or something it was really random that he flew off for a cure last minute.

the80sweregreat · 01/06/2023 16:02

Crying on demand must be hard.
I suppose the crew had a few water spray bottles at the ready!

Fantasea · 01/06/2023 17:08

I thought last night's episode was really well done. It sounds silly but I wasn't expecting to see Lola dead, just the dying part, and found that really shocking for some reason. Poor little Lexi hugging her dead mum was just heart-breaking. I also think Honey has been very realistic and I think the make-up team has captured how people look during a time like this.

I mean, I know she's due to die this week (I'm a day behind) but was it really necessary to shout it in a thread title?

It's not a spoiler, it has aired, and we all knew it was coming

If you were surprised then you haven't been paying attention

Apparently Max Bowden unexpectedly lost his best friend to an undiagnosed brain tumour in 2021. Lola's whole storyline has been really painful for him, understandably, and I guess her actual near-dying scenes were a step too far for him to cope with.

Yes as thread is tv paced

I did it about two hours after been shown on tv as needed new thread

Even I worked out she would die wed and I avoid all spoilers

But I watched it around 9-930 so way after it had been shown on tv

I've always said once been on tv fair game to talk about it

For me, it was the CAPITAL LETTERS 😬

the80sweregreat · 01/06/2023 19:52

Jellykat · 01/06/2023 19:58

Actors often use a tear stick. A bit like Vicks in a lipbalm stick. They put it under their eyes to make the tears come.

the80sweregreat · 01/06/2023 20:09

Ah, I wondered how they managed to make their eyes look like they have been crying!

MokaEfti · 01/06/2023 20:21

We were at dad's bedside when he was dying and he went whilst the nurses asked us to leave for a moment because they needed to change the sheets or something. Afterwards, they did say that is quite a common thing to happen.
Why, though?

What happened with Lola's Mum, Emma? I can't remember why she went off again. Nobody has mentioned her.

Think she went off to work abroad, 'amazing opportunity' and all that..

Yeah I'd wondered why no mention of her. Weird.

Twonewcats · 01/06/2023 23:08

Colin Salmon!! Bloody hell!

sparklyIsPretty · 01/06/2023 23:09

I've just caught up on this week.

The atmosphere was spot on with the dark and windy weather as Lola was in her final few hours, to the bright daybreak just after she passed away. Possibly symbolizing she is now at peace.

Little Lexi, bless her heart. I have a dd the same age so I found the scenes between Lexi and Lola very upsetting.

I wasn't keen on the new family. Felt a bit too soon after Lola's death to introduce some new, lively characters.

I think that's the point though. Takes the focus away from the death, as it would be utterly depressing watching everyone grieve for weeks at a time. The new family didn't know her so they can be a change of scene and be established while the others pause their drama for a couple of weeks.

Still can't believe it's Colin Salmon. I'll have to do some googling to see why he's doing EE

I've also just realised the daughter is Mollie Rainford too

Yes the fox was a good point

I was puzzled as usual by house layout

Lola's bedroom has a window to back. But lexi room Behind /next door has to window /layout isn't possible

Yes ! DD and I were puzzling over the room layout

Looking down the hallway from the front room there's Lola's room to the left with a window .
The bathroom facing you
And the 2nd door in the hallway behind Lola's room.

But you can see there is daylight through the window .Confused
Unless the 2nd door is out to the backyard and not a room at all ?

Aquarius1234 · 02/06/2023 00:41

Molly Rainford can't act

I've been puzzling over that, too!

I suppose it's possible that Lexi's room is only half the width of Lola's room.
Therefore leaving Lola's window view clear.

Perhaps no18's odd layout dates back to when it was half of the B&B?

AutumnalLeaves38 · 02/06/2023 02:08

Colin Salmon...mmm!

(Clearly he had the same effect on Whitney, when she got all flustered explaining Stacey's Baps were actually bacon rolls 😆
Karen was as subtle as a brick. Just plain toe-curlingly embarrassing).

Even alpha male Phil was fanboying all over him. Boxing being proper manly, innit? Doubt Phil will risk ever crossing him. Handy muscle to keep on side.

Even handier recruit to the anti-Nish brigade. For that alone, I salute him.

And, yes, please to George vs Nish in The World's Smallest Boxing Ring.

Having George and his daughters invade her territory was bad enough, but attempting to remove her beloved Diana portrait will NEVER be forgiven by Linda.
(A sin worse than Elaine and the crisps incident).

VivienneDelacroix · 02/06/2023 02:20

Colin Salmon is a beaut of a man, but dear God what a ridiculous character- famous boxer known in the East End! How silly.

EconomyClassRockstar · 02/06/2023 02:32

I'm already holding out for George and Linda to have an affair so we can get rid of the other three.

the80sweregreat · 02/06/2023 04:53

They have branded George Knight as an ' old fashioned' eastend gentleman.
Removing lady Di's portrait and chatting up Whitney / dodgy phone calls rather suggest otherwise ! We shall see though. He has the girls under his thumb , so I suppose they might rebel a bit. How old are they meant to be?
Phil actually liking someone straight off was rare!
