I've started a new thread already in case I forget to do it. Might not be needed but I think there's only about 50 posts left on the old thread. Shall we say we'll start posting on this one from tomorrow (Friday 5th) ?

This starts Wednesday week on BBC1 (22 March). Anyone want to join me on a thread about it? I saw some episodes of the previous two series but didn'...

They've done it. It's filmed and on the way.

Where have you got this information from?
Would definitely switch the TV off for that.

I assume celeb would would be for charity maybe - most wouldn't need the money themselves; it's not like £20k is a huge amount to most celebs. So to keep the competitive nature they need a reason to race.

Wow, what a thing to say.

Adoption in this country isn’t for everyone, and that’s OK. It usually requires another level of parenting due to the trauma experienced by the children being adopted.

there is nothing narcissistic about IVF, but then again people will throw narcissism at anything these days.

Imisscoffee2021 · 10/05/2023 22:25

@MNbingo IVF isn't narcissistic, not only is it emotionally draining and at times hugely undignified, it is also a huge gamble for many couples as is not a fail safe answer to infertility. Adoption can take years to process and finalise. One doesn't have to be better than the other as a response to infertility. Narcissism is the last thing motivating people who have to go down the invasive route of IVF to try and conceive a child with the person they love.

Can we please stick to the topic of Race Across the world rather than get into a debate on IVF vs adoption?
Let's not discuss this on this thread.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 10/05/2023 22:26

How do you know this?

It was advertised as Coming This Autumn directly after the show ended

@Mademetoxic

purpleme12 · 10/05/2023 22:26

Yes celeb one will probably be for charity.
It won't be the same of course but that's to be expected.
I'll wait to see who's on it before deciding if I'll watch it

NCTDN · 10/05/2023 22:27

I agree @Mademetoxic

NCTDN · 10/05/2023 22:28

I'll watch the celeb one because it will be in a different part of the world I presume.

LindorDoubleChoc · 10/05/2023 22:28

The taller of the two women had her arm round the shoulders of the shorter one in every single piece to camera, which I would have found supremely irritating in the shorter ones shoes.

Having been fairly indifferent all the way through, I did really want Ladi and Monique to win this episode.

I don't like to always be moaning, but does anyone else feel that it hasn't been all that captivating because this entire long race in the end only had two hours between the winners and the team in 3rd place. It's just a bit meh - which I guess is the reason for the beeb not putting the finishing line times and budgets remaining on the screen.

Shed a couple of tears here too with the ladies winning. They so wanted to win and with the eyesight, DH kidney issues etc think they really deserved it. Feeling solidarity being overweight, 50 and in peri menopause!

It looked very European. Fine by me!

I just watched to the winners & the ending. Switched off at the end credits.

Oh god no. More 'celebrities' who are hoping to get noticed/fame.
One to keep switched off.

Peachlollipop · 10/05/2023 22:30

If it’ll be ok this autumn, that makes me hopeful that it’s as well as the ‘normal’ version and not instead of it. So hopefully we will still get another series featuring non-celebrities next spring.

I was surprised the gap between first and second place was as long as two hours, having seen the last part of the race.

purpleme12 · 10/05/2023 22:30

They always edit it like that though don't they

Times here

Amazing thank you

LittleFreakJezebel · 10/05/2023 22:35

Well as a result of IVF I must be the #1 narcissist with all those genes from my parents!

MouseTime · 10/05/2023 22:35

I've watched The Amazing Race (USA version) since it first started about 20 years ago and they always design the race so that the slowest groups can catch up and so that the fastest groups get held up. It makes it more entertaining.

I LOVE The Amazing Race but there is like a clutch of series that I would call Vintage and it hasn't been as good in recent years since it started relying on Influencers and Reality stars. It's harder to come by as well.

I really hope Race Across The World doesn’t go down this path but I fear it will
