Glow Up is back! Who's watching?

I do enjoy Glow Up. I think Val and Dominic are very fair judges and give everyone constructive feedback, and they really know their stuff

There has been A LOT of shrieking and screaming so far but since starting to do some actual make up, things have calmed down. Not keen on the new host so far, she's very stiff and fake. Maybe it's nerves and she will settle in

YES to this! Didn't understand any of the metaverse stuff at all. And I didn't understand last week's 'influencer' with the terrifying face and teeth. I'm 43 so hardly ancient but clearly not the target age group for this show 😂

I'm 43 too. And I work in IT and I STILL didn't understand it! Blush

It reminded me of that Simpsons quote "I used to be with it, but then they changed what IT is. Now what I am with, isn't IT and what is IT seems strange and scary to me" Grin

Glow Up is one of my fave progs ever! Gutted Wes went yesterday… he was amazing albeit didn’t fit the cartoon brief.. but still, like PP said… gelatin all over the face and covering half the make up.. really? Now Wes has gone I’m not sure who’s a possible winner now..

That was just bonkers. Understood one word in 10.

Only that one guy did a cartoon, the blue with the lashes.
Don't think anyone else really met the brief or did anything super amazing. With them being younguns I expected them to make the models look like anime characters. All big eyes and impossible dimples.

Big shock for Wesley to go this early and he clearly was surprised. The Smokey eye should have been a breeze for him.

I was glad he went. Although pretty good at the auld slap, his confidence crept into arrogance.

I say crept. I mean stomped.

His disbelief when he got his jotters was astounding.

He gave me Fairuza Balk vibes when she went a bit wrong in The Craft.

Sophie was the best, she was amazing and I’ll always love her, she helped my dd (through the show and insta) deal with what she was going through at the time.

Love Val’s usual glasses but what the hell were those monstrosities in ep1??

Also not keen on the new presenter

The presenter seems like a lovely lass and she is gorgeous but has the emotional connection of a wet wipe bless her.

I also don’t see why we have a drag week next week. No one will ever do a DQ’s face like they do themselves.

I keep saying it but we need to see how to disguise blemishes, do shading, accentuate an eye (or two). Maybe a wedding makeover.

No one wants to go out looking like Fifi la Foof.

Except maybe Fifi…

@ArcaneWireless I was only thinking the other day why don't they show more realistic make up?! I'd love to know how to contour, do brows, a natural day look. The artistic tasks are great, but give the viewers some realism!!

The presenter seems to make it all about her, her outfits are very over the top "look at me" too. Loved Stacey presenting this!

Thought Wezley was really up himself and unkind to done if the others. On May's screeching is really irritating. really really dislike the presenter - bring back Stacey or Maya - She is glamorous but wooden and cold.

Sophie Baverstock is just a wonderful person, and so talented. She's a great role model.

I've watched two episodes, and will be watching the rest because there is certainly some talent there, but I have to admit that I've taken a totally irrational dislike to a couple of the competitors (Roo in particular grates on me). I was sorry to lose the Geordie lass so early (as I am from the same part of the country) but she did let herself down.

The "twins" challenges are getting less interesting - perhaps they are struggling to find a challenge that can be done in five minutes, who knows - they should just repeat some of the previous ones.. That metallic (chrome?) lip one was rubbish!

I like Saphron, On-May is irritating and Wezley is arrogant.

I do love that he has embraced a fancy flamboyant face and hasn’t felt the need to succumb to fancy flamboyant pronouns.

It is a make up show. The pronouns by the names are unnecessary. Just address them in the show how they wish to be addressed. It isn’t anything to do with them popping on a face full of slap.

What is He/they about?

Wez is Happy in his skin. So fair play to him.

Totally agree. The pronoun nonsense is very irritating

It's suffering from the same problem as Bake Off (imo): which is a belief that all challenges always need to be different to something they've done before on previous series. Which means they start to get desperate for something new and they get more and more outlandish as a result.

Just like Bake Off, I really wish they'd just stick to finding good talent and letting them shine. I really want to see every day good make up done well, with the occasional bigger/more dramatic challenge. Just like I'd like to see bakers bake the kind of cakes I might bake, but to an exceptional standard. I don't want to see them dig a hole in the garden, heat it for 24 hours then bake a bloody flatbread in it!

I don't want to see a chrome lip because I'm never going to try to do a chrome lip. I would like to see them get from 'just got out of bed with drool down my cheek' to 'acceptable to leave for work' in 5 mins, because they over slept Grin

I felt sorry for Wez going out - he may be a bit of a snake but On May is rubbish!!! She should definitely have gone out first. I keep wondering if she has some kind of blackmail info on Val and Dom.

Agree Roo is highly irritating. Saphron has been my fave to win from the start but I think there’s a lot to Axel as well.
