Best thing I've watched in AGES. Dark, slow, black comedy?, simply brilliant.

I started it but got distracted and never went back to it. It's very well reviewed - thanks for reminding me to go back and finish it!

alabamathunderpussy · 22/04/2023 16:59

Watched the whole thing today (the shame!)
It just got a great feel to it. Almost like a sitcom
In a comforting way, 30 min episodes, relationship focussed etc, but just with great filming, great script, acting etc. Loved. It.

i loved it too though only realised half way through it was a comedy (not in a bad way). second season out next week.

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 15/07/2023 18:49

Loved it. Just finished s2. I really hope it continues.

ReeseWitherfork · 15/07/2023 22:33

Is that the Disney+ show with Lip from Shameless? My app is pushing it like mad but I didn’t have any motivation to watch it… I need a new show to binge though, thanks for the recommendation!

hmrcwhatnow · 15/07/2023 22:37

@ReeseWitherfork yes though i never watched US Shameless. if you have never watched Snowfall it is excellent and the final season has just dropped on BBC. Happy find tonight though it can be a tough watch.

VittysCardigan · 21/07/2023 22:00

Currently watching S2 the Christmas episode was so stressful. Loved the Ritchie episode though

hmrcwhatnow · 21/07/2023 22:04

spooky i literally just finished watching those 2 episodes in the last 2 minutes!! what a show

YukoandHiro · 21/07/2023 22:06

Been meaning to watch this for ages but we need to fiddle with the tv because the Disney+ app isn't working.
I'm going to get it sorted this weekend!

hmrcwhatnow · 21/07/2023 22:45

@YukoandHiro it is really great. i'm hanging on to every episode and trying to pace myself.

VenusStarr · 24/07/2023 21:58

Just finished series 2. Thought it was great, loved how we got to know each of the characters in more depth. Hope they make another series.

The Christmas episode was stressful but so good. I liked that there were some longer episodes to give time to develop the stories and characters.

hmrcwhatnow · 24/07/2023 22:05

@VenusStarr i just finished 10 minutes ago - one of the best things i have watched in so long (loved succession too ) cannot believe there are not more threads on it. so much to process and cannot wait to see season 3. i'm sure they will make a big impact at the emmys.

fufulina · 24/07/2023 22:06

Christmas episode so stressful! But I said to DH it’s how I feel but out loud, not in my head. Ha. The Richie episode also amazing.

hmrcwhatnow · 24/07/2023 22:18

multi layered and really stressful but amazing. ritchie ❤️ and even Pete and actually Fak!!!

EllaMenopee · 24/07/2023 22:18

We just finished season 2. It's so good. Had to take a breather mid season 1 though as dh just found it all too stressful! I was really annoyed with Carmy at the end of the last episode of season 2 though.

hmrcwhatnow · 24/07/2023 22:30

@EllaMenopee me too but his character is probably very relatable
to a lot of people as well as massively frustrating - self sabotage to the nth degree. i don't know any chefs but maybe not uncommon?

EllaMenopee · 24/07/2023 22:42

Oh he's very relatable to me, @hmrcwhatnow , that's probably what frustrated me so much (and I'm not even a chef) 😂it was very well juxtaposed, seeing so much growth in everyone else and he shoots himself in the foot.

Is anyone else really confused by Richie's real life name being Ebon Moss-Bachrach?? He just plays the character way to well to translate to having such a glorious name!

Magnoliainbloom · 26/07/2023 08:06

This has to be one if the best creations ever. Wow - such a rollercoaster of emotions.

dressedforcomfort · 26/07/2023 16:47

The bear is bloody brilliant. Just started season 2. The whole cast are amazing. I think Jeremy Allen White has a young, blonde Dustin Hoffman thing going on - he's captivating as hell to watch.

StefanosHill · 27/07/2023 15:53

We just watched season 2

Incredible stuff

StefanosHill · 27/07/2023 17:54

The Christmas episode is crazy

I loved the chef language and way they operate

Loved the fancy restaurant one

DudeItsPrawns · 27/07/2023 18:00

Yes the Christmas episode is crazy, and the fact they got all those actors in for it was amazing.

VenusStarr · 27/07/2023 18:48

I'm still thinking about it. Think I'll watch it all the way through again at some point.

My dh is a chef and we know lots of other chefs, so it's funny watching him watch it. I kept asking would that happen?! It also makes me feel in awe of him and anyone that works in hospitality. The reading out of orders on the pass etc was mind-blowing and I would be crap at it! 🤣

@hmrcwhatnow I haven't seen succession but think we'll give it a try.

Yes!

Carouselfish · 27/07/2023 19:06

Huge crush on Jeremy Allen White as Lip in Shameless. That affair with his college professor!!!
Watched a couple of episodes of The Bear. I suppose, I don't really like a kitchen environment, so was always going to be a hard sell. It is well done though.
