Best thing I've watched in AGES. Dark, slow, black comedy?, simply brilliant.

Just finished this...oh my! I thought Succession was one of the best things I'd ever seen but this runs a close second. Just incredible all round.

TobiasForgesContactLense · 29/07/2023 01:09

Just watched the Christmas episode and a bit blown away! Have loved it generally but wow. Looking forward to the rest of S2 but need a bit of space to process.

Netaporter · 29/07/2023 21:41

Just finished all of S2 tonight. Loved the backstory explained in the Xmas ep, and what a cast! Also loved Richie’s character development and the cameos by Will Poulter and Olivia Colman. Just fab. Am now bereft.

cushioncovers · 30/07/2023 10:49

It's on my list to watch

NotNowFGS · 01/08/2023 08:00

I'm obsessed. Had to hug someone at send of ep10 s2. It is so good.

KnottyKnitting · 01/08/2023 08:17

After the first episode DH and I were a bit on the fence as it just seemed to be people shouting and swearing unnecessarily at one another. However we are now three episodes in and it is growing on us. Worth sticking with!

beamss · 01/08/2023 12:17

It's so good

hmb255 · 01/08/2023 22:37

This series is so great. It's so sad and heartwarming and hectic and crazy all at the same time. I love all of the characters and the acting is so spot on. Love it.

Willmafrockfit · 02/08/2023 08:14

i watched episode 1 and some of 2 and there was a lot of shouting

Netaporter · 02/08/2023 08:20

@Willmafrockfit stick with it. It gets very good but you need to watch (it’s not a scroll while you watch show) and get invested. Cameos in s2 are fab.

Willmafrockfit · 02/08/2023 08:42

thank you,
i have just seen it has 5 stars from Guardian, and that diazepam and antacids are needed to get through the early episodes!
but i had better stick with it by the sounds of things!

DontBeAPrickDarren · 02/08/2023 08:46

DH said the Christmas episode was reminiscent of his childhood Christmases and honestly that comment has probably given me more insight into his psyche than anything else in our 15 years together 😬

Forks episode was a thing of beauty, perfection from start to end.

Netaporter · 02/08/2023 13:22

@DontBeAPrickDarren the Xmas episode and the forks episode explained so much. Totally captivating. And then in the final eps when you see that the chef Will Poulter’s character refers to in Copenhagen is in fact Carmy (which you sort of knew already)

Willmafrockfit · 03/08/2023 20:24

i loved the end of season 1 so much!

VittysCardigan · 21/07/2023 22:00

Currently watching S2 the Christmas episode was so stressful. Loved the Ritchie episode though

Yes, the Ritchie episode was my absolute favourite episode from both seasons.

Willmafrockfit · 05/08/2023 07:17

the Christmas episode was stressful! but great ending

Aroundthebend · 06/08/2023 10:36

Truly, one of the best shows I’ve watched! Episode 6, season 2 was triggering as I had an alcoholic, narcissistic mother who was exactly like this preparing family meals. I needed to book an extra counselling session to decompress! I told my therapist was told to watch it as she would then understand why I was with her!
phenomenal on every level! I did warn a few friends (who are vegans) that they may not like the amount of raw meat!

mondaytosunday · 06/08/2023 11:30

Omg that Christmas episode! My daughter and I watched the series together and we were both rung out by the end of it! Jamie Lee Curtis was amazing.
The show really captures the dysfunctional aspect of both blood families and work families. But my god how any of them keep getting up in the morning - phew! Intense is an apt one word description. Amazing show.

mondaytosunday · 06/08/2023 11:33

And it's the directors and editing as much as the performers that make it so good - a real roller coaster ride of endless loop de loops!

Willmafrockfit · 06/08/2023 11:39

and Carmy goes to Al Anon, the thing and doesnt even mention his mother!

headcheffer · 06/08/2023 11:51

Brilliant. Binged watched it this week. Incredible bit of TV.

Willmafrockfit · 06/08/2023 12:03

heard

SheilaWilde · 06/08/2023 23:24

Yes chef.

I think this is the best tv I've watched in a long time. It filled my Ted Lasso hole, now I'm adrift.

MotherOfCatBoy · 11/08/2023 21:54

Bloody brilliant. Loved S1, just finished S2, me, DH and DS are now impatient for S3 - they just make another one quick!
S2 “Fishes” the Christmas one - can relate.
“Forks” - Ritchie ❤️
The most beautiful TV I’ve watched in a long time, literally and figuratively.

MotherOfCatBoy · 11/08/2023 21:54

(Have to) make another one - typed too fast
