Best thing I've watched in AGES. Dark, slow, black comedy?, simply brilliant.

Just watched the Christmas episode - man, that was stressful, could feel my blood pressure rising! But such an outstanding episode, and the performances from everyone was out of this world.

I've just got this far.
I found this episode very stressful but also very believable.
DH thought it was the closest to my family Christmas that he has seen on TV.

I also love the inclusion of the Chicago landscape.

Just finished Season 2 and don't know what to do with myself now. Loved seeing how Ritchie developed.

Any recommendations for something to watch next pls!

I just watched it all the way through again. I just fast forward Claire, and I won’t watch the Christmas episode again.

The other thing is Fleishman’s in Trouble. I remember the book and the twist. Won’t spoil, but it’s good. Claire Danes is superb.

There is lots of REM which is never a bad thing

superoz · 02/09/2023 01:14

@moresleepthanks the episode after the Christmas one ‘Forks’ is a complete antidote to the stress of the previous one. Probably my favourite.

Finished the season now. Absolutely brilliant, and I love Richie!

Have started to watch season 1 again with dd as she hadn’t seen it. There are quite a few things referenced in S2, it’s been really interesting picking up those little details.

What do you think Francie Fak did to Sugar?

rowantree1997 · 10/09/2023 11:33

Cook the omelette 😋

Figgygal · 12/09/2023 13:55

That season 2 Christmas episode was just peak tv
The cameos the building tension like uncle lee said we all knew it was coming
Explains so much about carmy and Natalie's personalities that shared trauma - wow
And John Bernthal was exceptional again

moresleepthanks · 12/09/2023 14:03

Okay I've finished it and really liked it, preferred it to season one.

The funniest thing about that episode is the H and S warning at the beginning, that very seriously warns that in the episode you will see adults ( trigger warning) smoking cigarettes.

No warning that you will also people throwing forks at each other with intent to hurt , and hear more bad words than even my granny knew, but people, adults, will be smoking in a tv series written about adults, for adults. Phew, so glad they warned me.

userxx · 12/09/2023 14:32

Is season 1 still on Disney ?

Willmafrockfit · 12/09/2023 20:07

yes it is @userxx

Crinklycut · 12/09/2023 20:30

you are going to have such a good time @userxx

has anyone made the omelette? With Boursin and crisps?

superoz · 13/09/2023 10:44

@viques yes rated 16+ and the only reason they give is ‘Tabacco depictions’!

I find it really funny that the episode after is named ‘Forks’ after all the fork throwing from the previous one.

Fabulous. I'll sign up to Disney + offer.

I made the omelette by whisking the eggs through the sieve and cooking it gently like she does. I only had cream cheese to put inside but it was absolutely lush - really silky.

Crinklycut · 13/09/2023 19:34

I bet that was fire @rowantree1997

Ooh looking for a new series abd this looks good.

It says it’s 12+, but is it a family-friendly watch?

Willmafrockfit · 19/09/2023 16:08

I think there is swearing

nearlywinteragain · 19/09/2023 16:24

No I honestly wouldn't describe it as family friendly.
It is dark, has violence, suicide, self harm, drinking, smoking and bad language.
It is also moving and life affirming to provide balance. But not dc friendly.

Uggghhhh · 19/09/2023 17:01

Ha ha ok thanks!
