No, do I need to? I like interior design masters, is it similar?

If you like Interior Design Masters I think you'd like this too.

Hello!
I like the fact the concept is slightly different in that they are following their own brief.
Im not sure if the judge is able to remain totally neutral, her face when she sent into the four poster bed room told a different story.
Also how did she know the Pink lookalike wasn't matching her personality? She doesn't know her.
Jordan is a pain.

I think the four poster bed room was the one I, personally, would find most comfortable but it didn't really reflect the building. It was like an escape from it.

Just seen on the IDM that you'd started this one.

I hated the 4 poster room. Not my taste but definitely doesn't go with the building.

What's annoying me is that I know I've seen the Japandi woman with the short blonde hair in something else but can't remember what in. I recognised her instantly.

I reckon most of these apartments will be stripped and redecorated after the series has finished.

I enjoyed the first programme, like the increased timescale and budget, resulting in better finishing.
Interesting that the brief for the bedroom was that the contestants should do their own styles. I hope this will be slightly different going forward, because of the nature of the building where the flats are.
For example, I felt the fourposter room was very well executed but didn't gel with the building at all. I was amused by one of the owner's apt comment that it looked like a B&B in the Cotswolds.

Yes, I recognised the Japandi woman too.
I actually really liked her room, didn't like the 4 poster room.

The Japandi lady has gone.
I thought the lover of Brutalism architecture should have gone before her.

I agree. I liked the Georgian one although it wasn't suitable for the building and my second favourite was the one who left.

She looked a bit like a woman who was on Come Dine with Me but it definitely wasn't her.

What annoyed me was that they didn’t show you the room after she got locked out. I can’t remember which one was hers.

Report
Cocolapew · 23/04/2023 21:23

Though the room might not have gone with the building they are decorating it for themselves to move into so it has to be their taste.
@PriamFarrl it was the one with the white wallpaper with the black swirl on it that the judge thought was painted.

Thanks. It would have been nice to have a shot of the room with the judge saying why she picked that one.

Did anyone else think that the judge’s voice sounded like the woman from Flight of the Concordes?

It was Japandi style. Very off white/beige/neutral colours.

I think she might have stayed in if she had actually painted design, but it was just wallpaper. I thought that young girl was Greta Thunberg!

I really enjoyed this. I was surprised to see Japandi woman go. Like a pp said, how does the judge know that it isn't her personality. Someone added zero storage which the judge said was important and managed to stay.

I don't really like there being only one judge, it's far too subjective to have just one person.

I agree with all of that. Poor choice and poor explanation of why she was eliminated.

Loved the blue and red kitchen with the 'chilli' mural and separate oil drum table. Really surprised at myself but thought it was fab and seemed right for the setting and to me that contestant had followed the brief well. Wish they showed more of the developers reactions to the work done and more actual explanation about what was good/less good about the designs.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 29/04/2023 03:22

The chilli kitchen was my favourite too.

I actually liked the neon one but said the island was far too small when she was making it.

The right one was kicked off. What was he thinking. A bloody kitchen designer too!

The young one does look like Greta Thunberg 😄

I didn't like the black and pink and fuchsia kitchen at all and think it was the right choice to be locked.
The chilli kitchen was the best, really vibrant and wonderful use of colour. I wouldn't have chosen those colours either but the finished room looked so good, also appropriate for the building.

I'm not sure I'd like to wake up in Justine's apartment if I was feeling hungover poorly. The bedroom was very colourful and if you made it the kitchen for a necessary cuppa there was no respite from the bright colours there either. Smile

I thought John should have gone. He's a "one trick pony" so far with his faux period features.
If Jordan had removed the middle bar section of his service section it would have worked so much better.
I still think Claire was robbed last week, after seeing her bedroom shown again last night.
I thought Patrycya's terrazzo splashback tiles were awful with the counter top and marble on the island unit.
Why were there no kitchen tables and chairs ?
Daft !!!
Is there a dining area in the sitting room ?

Dara was engaged to Beatrice's husband and they lived together with their child.

I'm assuming going by the size of the room the kitchen was in that the 'living/dining room' will be in the same space. Just one open plan room.

That would also mean the other part would need to at least be similar style to the kitchen area.

Can't be many more rooms to do though?

Living room
Bathroom
Obligatory home office as the second 'bedroom' will be tiny.

I agree with all of this except to add that for me Justine is also very much a one trick pony and I hate her style. It makes me think of a cheap CBeebies set that's only meant to be temporary and has a limited appeal. If they were looking for inspiration for a show apartment, this is not it at all. If she doesn't win, and please no to that, it'll be ripped out and amended in an instant. It's like the woman on the BBC's design show who only did Gothic styling.

Jordan's idea of screening off the working kitchen was a good one and the only one to think of it, just not well executed in the end. A push under-pull out table would've been a good idea and tall storage cupboards for the divider rather than just shelving.

At the risk of sounding a real grump, I'm not liking Dara's judging either, she seems to go for surface style over substance and Claire was definitely robbed last week. The comment that the bedroom didn't reflect her character was way off mark.
