I think Harriet Thorpe is already doing a great job as Elaine. The Vic needed fresh blood and someone with character running it. I'm looking forward to this new reign!

Tiny kitchen with one small work surface - a small sofa that is meant to fit everyone on it shoved in the middle of the room and fold up table and chairs

Why they did this to the front room/kitchen when other houses have lots of downstairs room

I think the room behind the kitchen/diner/lounge is used as a bedroom, , is it now Lola's room?

When Donna lived there (house share) she might've had the downstairs room/

No Alfie Moon loft extension , but must have elastic tardis walls .

So 6 people live in that flat? Crikey. There were 4 sets of FT adult wages in that household at one point, I don’t get why they are all crammed in there.

Meanwhile Alfie must be on serious mates rates in the flat. A two bed near the tube in East London is about £1800 pcm.

Will , Janet , honey and Billy often appear at the bottom of the stairs so I think they live upstairs and they share the kitchen area.
Lola and Jay must have a bedroom off to the side downstairs.
I'm not sure where Ben sleeps though
It is a cramped house and how they manage I've no idea tbh especially as the children are now teenagers and there isn't even a dining table and a small kitchen.

Also why does Ben have to work all these extra hours to support them. Jay is on compassionate leave with full pay as he mentioned Pam is still paying him. Lola only stopped working this week. So they’ve had the same income as always. And Billy came back from Portugal loaded as he said he could take the entire family on holiday as Grant paid him so well. Lexi is with her dad part of the week. It’s just not clear why is life suddenly more expensive for them.

Paulines house has always eluded me
Originally it was Pauline and Arthur in the main upstairs bedroom.
The 2nd bedroom had a divider (not a wall , I think just a hung up bedsheet) when Mark and Michelle were there .
Lou Beale had the front room downstairs as her room.
When Martin was born they made bedroom 2 into seperate rooms (some of the 2 beds of that age had massive rooms, I know loads of people who made 2 beds into 3 beds and still decent sized)

A few years later Paulne had the loft converted (Ray Brooks , the actor with the most amazing voice ever ) was the builder .

When Ian moved into Paulines house he extended the lounge , suddenly there was room for a sofa and chairs , large coffee table and the most hideous purple net curtains known to mankind .

When Jane was shot by nasty Steven Beale and confined to a wheelchair , Ian had the downstairs (Lou's room) converted to a bedroom with shower for Jane ............ but hadn't that spaced already been taken by the extended lounge ?

Eastenders houses seem to grow extra rooms like a lizard grows a new tail .

Eastenders is E20 postcode , originally the name was a hybrid of Walthamstow and Ilford so Walford

2 bed flat ( one bedroom being loft extension) 0.6 miles from Walthamstow Central is £1900 pcm . Older property like the Square , not a new buid .(on RightMove)

The houses do tend to shrink and grow at odd times.
Alfie's new place looks a fair size , yet the flat that Whitney and Lee had once was small.
Both owned by Jack in that mysterious block.
I think that Ben had some money woes with the arches as he didn't pay the insurance bill to help out Lola who had run up 2 k on credit cards on holiday with Jay and Lexi a few months ago. Jay also tapped him for cash too towards that trip.
Maybe paying bills for his own place , child maintenance for Lexi , the business to run and offering to help out Lola too has caught up with him ? I can see how it's happened and Jay is probably on min wage and Lola hasn't worked every day for a while ( didn't she cut her hours down a while back too ?)
They should ask Billy for money , but maybe his already given them some ?

Financial situation of all characters makes no sense. Even Phil whose never ending riches never have a clear and obvious source. Boxing gyms and even clubs don’t make all that much money once you strip out costs of goods, staff, utilities (no energy price cap for businesses), rates.

Phil sold the chicken shops to Nish , he suddenly was seen in a Range Rover and giving thousands away to Stacey ! Alfie owes him money, but now seems to be able to rent a place and pay bills whilst working part time at the vic.

Dr Nina (wife of the horrible Ranveer ) drove off in a Range Rover .Never to be seen again.

Philth suddenly seen driving about in a Range Rover (when before he was a Jaguar fan)

Plus Ben works alone and most garages I've ever been in or seen from the road are normally busy with two or three mechanics or more and lots of electronic equipment too.
The arches seems very sparse in comparison and a bit dated.

All very true. But no signs of a clear illicit income stream pulling in lots of money for Philth and the faaaamily.

The chicken shops were fronts for money laundering, so presume Philths money came from there. And all the dodgy dealing in Portugal and wherever Billy was

poor old Sonia never has anything straightforward. Over on Classic Eastenders, Jamie has just died and now Robbie’s gone off to India to with Nita and Sonia just has Jim and Dot. She’s only 17 I think and already has to act like a 30 year old.

Sonia is a tragic character really.
I don't think she has ever married ? Not that it matters, but that look she gave the wedding photo of Reiss and Debbie was just so sad.
Her relationship with Tina was also a bit one way too. She's not had much luck with men or women !

She was married to Martin!
