God I love this show. Pure joy. Sometimes I’m so busy admiring the hats or the kitchen decor, that I have to rewind the whole scene.

Love the show and a great ensemble cast, alongside the costumes!

Love it here too. Such a clever script and Rachel Brosnahan was absoutely born to play this part.

Oh I love this show! I'm so glad they're doing flash forwards this series. So many shows just end and you never find out how things end up for the characters.

Thank you for all of your replies. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only fan. Rachel Brosnahan is brilliant, as are the costuming and production. I love the way it captures the American culture of the era, too, highly sexist but just beginning to change in that regard.

I'm a New Yorker, so that adds to the show for me too.

The whole show is a joy, the dialogue is quick, the clothes and interiors incredibly curated...
I have just discovered that it is by the same mind behind Gilmore Girls and, while the story is totally different, the quirkiness of the dialogues is still there, just much more sophisticated. Genius!

I don’t want to be a hater (hides) but I wasn’t in love with it. I liked the Joel storyline, not so much the opening or the Miriam plot

I loved Rose, Abe, Shirley and Moishe though

I’m away doing university stuff with dd so will have to wait until Monday evening to watch.

I’ve watched the first two and really feel disappointed. The opening scenes of each episode totally ruin the feel good part of the show that I really love. The feeling that it’s all going to turn sour and awful in the end. Her kids being neglected has always been a bit of a joke, seeing how that plays out twenty years later takes this out of fantasy into something quite nasty. Maybe that’s been the point all along. Naughty woman for wanting something more than motherhood. I dunno. I hope it picks up though, I’ve rewatched it all and it really is sublime. I hope this season doesn’t ruin it.

I agree @HamHand.

Dp and I have always said we feel a bit uncomfortable about how the kids get neglected by Midge during the series when they are so young. But we decided we were supposed to think she’s an amazing and warm mother when she’s not doing her tours etc. The first episode kind of shatters that. I’ve just started watching episode 2 - going back to finish it

I’ve now finished episode 2 - better but still not loving it so far (sorry!)

Watched first 2 episodes and feel a bit disappointed. I don't like the flash forwards and actually finding Midge really annoying 😂 Such a shame as absolutely loved the previous series x

There's a theory on the Mrs maisel subreddit that the flash forwards are a glimpse of what could happen, an alternative future if Midge doesn't stop sabotaging herself and her relationships with everyone.

I'm not convinced. I think its been sign posted all along that Midge doesn't particularly like being a mother. She's selfish which is what is needed for her to succeed but it will have consequences later down the line. And i need to know what happens to make her fall out with Suzie!😭

I think its entirely plausible she wouldn't have a great relationship with her children whether she was a housewife or a famous comedian.

Also, I hope that's not the last we see of Lenny! I wonder if what happens to him on 1966 has a big impact on Midge and causes her to alienate everyone she loves 🤷‍♀️

WingingItSince1973 · 15/04/2023 16:16

I love Lenny and the actor really does him justice. Shame about what happens to real life Lenny. I hope they don't put that in the show. But he's gorgeous whatever 😂 I can't see how Midge ever parents. No wonder the flash forwards sees a very unhinged daughter but good point that this maybe a what could happen situation x

Only watched the first one. Midge has always been so selfish and never gives a shit about the kids, but I imagine she wasn't parented much either! Abe and Rose don't seem to be great role models.
Felt sorry for Joel.
