I like that they are making Nicky and Frank(?) a bit more sinister and mob like now. Who knew the mob used the garbage disposal industry to get rid of bodies?! I've just fallen down a google rabbit hole with that little nugget of information 😬

Tony Soprano was in “waste management”. 🙂

The musical reminded me of the Gilmore Girls seasons - when we had the endless Kurt musical. I fear this series is making the same mistakes as Seasons.

GG had twice as many episodes and a slower story arc with a natural timeline that had to play out with Rory’s education. They had time for Kurt’s movie.

MM doesn’t have the luxury of this self-indulgent stuff. It went on for far too long.

@escapingthecity Industrial musicals did exist! There is an award winning documentary about a writer on the Letterman show hunting down LP's, performers and film clips that were recorded of some of them . They had Broadway stars in them and were big productions!

This looks amazing! Thank you!

EachandEveryone · 29/04/2023 23:40

I must admit Im not feeling it this time. I spend half the episode wondering which blonde character is married to Daniel Radcliff is it Suzie’s old friend or the one who plays the sister in law? Is Midge based on Joan Rivers?

musicinspring1 · 30/04/2023 08:08

I googled Daniel Radcliffe's girlfriend out of interest and she played 'Mary' a make up counter girl at B Altman. I learned something new today ! @EachandEveryone
Anyone seen the latest episode from Friday? Reveals a bit more about Joel and the mob but not much more. How many episodes are left to wrap this up?!

EachandEveryone · 30/04/2023 09:07

If you havent seen it can I recommend Hacks on Amazon Prime? Its up to date but so much better and funnier.

gingercat02 · 30/04/2023 09:21

Yes I have watched ep5. That's my Friday treat when I finish work at lunchtime.

The Joel flash forward was interesting as was the fire escape scene, but that was obviously coming!

Not sure I was happy abour Midge and Gordon in the cafe

Not much content but it's definitely the build up to everything kicking off with the mob

BeginningToLookALotLike · 30/04/2023 13:06

Only 4 more episodes I think, from looking at IMDb (although they might not have put up the whole series yet).

Susie is doing very well for her new clients isn't she! I wonder if that will have anything to do with her fallout with Midge.

escapingthecity · 05/05/2023 22:25

The roast format is a fun way of covering a lot of ground for Susie. Who is it she's meant to look like with the grey streaks?

Aftertheharvest · 05/05/2023 22:29

@escapingthecity agree liked the format too, got me at the end though 😭

OhVicIveFallen · 06/05/2023 00:50

Loved this episode, fantastic 👏

SirChenjins · 06/05/2023 07:56

Absolutely brilliant episode! I thought this series started off very poorly but it’s improved immensely - I’m even (finally) warming to Joel.

gingercat02 · 08/05/2023 17:55

The Suzie episode was really sad. It's always been obvious that Midge loved Joel and no one else. Then he went to jail to save her.
Tits Up! nearly had me in tears.

DoTrollsShitInTheThreads · 08/05/2023 19:19

Thanks, op. I didn't even realise there would be another series. Happy.

Thanks, I just got caught up on the last two episodes over the weekend. I thought the finish was brilliant.

I enjoyed it too and thought it was a clever way to tell us a lot. I missed Abe and Rose though! The cake reveal was perfect 😂

BeginningToLookALotLike · 08/05/2023 21:52

Did anyone else notice that the actor who played the host also played Kirk in Gilmore Girls?

Newgirls · 09/05/2023 13:30

A brilliant perfect episode! What writing and acting. Worth another watch.

MissHavershamReturns · 10/05/2023 23:22

Loved this roast one. Much better!

escapingthecity · 14/05/2023 21:28

This week's was the best of the season so far. Back to the fast dialogue and lots of jokes and plenty of the parents.

Gooseysgirl · 14/05/2023 22:55

Abe was at his best on the school visit 🤣

Bone11 · 14/05/2023 22:58

The happy group...!

gingercat02 · 15/05/2023 08:06

Love that Esther is the Wiseman prodigy. Poor Ethan is "just" happy. Abe was excellent but horrific at school

MissHavershamReturns · 16/05/2023 00:33

Just watched and really liked. Much better
