I listened to Karren (oh so so sorry, tugs forelock) BARONESS Brady on LBC earlier this week and she was so vocal about International Women’s Day - and I thought she spoke quite eloquently about women’s rights (women gave birth to every tax payer I this country).

Then I saw her on Apprentice and thought - which one is the real you - promoting women or belittling and humiliating them.

I can sort of understand the Baroness Brady thing in an interview situation but the rest of her behaviour was shocking

what really got me was she seemed to relish attacking them but gave a completely different, supportive view to siralun

Agree with what's been said. I was particularly upset about Victoria as I liked her. The criticism of her spelling and grammar was horrible. It is a class thing. Or a lack of formal education. And you'd think they'd give them a bit of basic coaching and someone to check over the plan before the interviews - that wd be more interesting.

She went to school. Working class people go to school. How is that a class issue? She didn't bother to use a dictionary / spell / grammar check - which you are taught to do at school and at home.

I used to respect Karren Brady back when she was Birmingham city MD but she has just been a bitch this series. Sometimes it's made me laugh but she went too far. My 10 year old DD loves the show but she thought it wasn't nice.

It looked like she had been told to play the bitch boss but was struggling with that role. I think they’re all a bit kinder than they used to be.

I don’t want to be ‘that’ person who says this but I think all the women on there apart from the one into boxing are just a disgrace. They’re all completely stupid, and what on earth is going on with all the fake tan, botox, weird laminated eyebrows etc. The whole thing has just turned into a joke.

I wouldn’t want my daughter watching that. It’s like an example of everything I don’t want her to be.

I can see people disagree with me. And I'm usually in pedant's corner making a fuss over amount/ number, could of/ would of, brought/ bought, etc etc. But I would never shame someone who clearly didn't get that sort of education. We all know some schools are shit. We all know some kids get nothing from school. She left at 16. She clearly made something of herself and I wish her luck (- and I hope she does work on her spelling).

Karren has been totally up herself all series - I think she feels superior to Tim as well as he is a former apprentice candidate.

That's a good point. I remember Tim winning all these years ago. I liked him then and he still comes across very well now.

I also agree that the male interviewers manage to tear the business plans to shreds without being quite so nasty. Mike Soutar's preparation is always so thorough. Karren's 'Baroness Brady to you' comment just made her look stupid as well as bitchy.

When Linda La Plante was on You're Fired the other week she spoiled the atmosphere by being really nasty to the fired candidate. The others, including Karren, are much nicer on that programme. It's not set up to be harsh and she really hit the wrong note.

I wondered if Tim would watch it back and think it didn't show him in a good light being part of a programme where the young woman were held up to ridicule. It made uncomfortable viewing at the end for many reasons.

I think Margaret was right to leave; she was a different calibre of individual. Far more substantial.

What amazes me is that Claude, Karren & the other one(?) are clearly told to be awful in the interviews but they do it. They don't have to! It's like that famous psychology experiment about the electric shocks.

I expect she was really frustrated with how awful the plans were and how bad it looked for women's credibility in business in general.

Yes this is news to me too. This thread has put me right off The apprentice. What a horrible bunch of people. I haven't watched Thursdays episode as we don't usually watch it until Sunday, due to dc hobbies, but I think this is last series I'm going to watch. Bullying and arrogant behaviour by the sounds of it. And I use to admire Karen Brady, apologies Barroness Brady. I thought she was a role model, a successful women, but yeah reading these comments, she just sounds like a twat.

Good point but I feel the people to be annoyed with are the people who picked them for the show. I feel like they knew their business plans weren't great anyway and to have her treat them the way she did is awful. I would've have crumbled

I haven't watched in years and only saw clips through gogglebox. I was horrified at her Baroness Brady comment. I am Irish so don't really get the whole honours thing but surely the royal family do not bestow honours on someone so they can go and use it to bash someone with. The arrogance of that comment was disgusting, I'd be stripping her of her title if that is how she uses it. I wouldn't have been able to hold my tongue on that one if I'd been the candidate but then I always love a bit of dissent.

Although the men don't come off well either. Yes it's a tv show, but it wasn't always like this, Ruth Badger would have to have her arse pumped into her lips and pink stiletto heels go near the building if she entered today. It looks SO dated. And km going to bet their business plans were all shit?
