Karren Brady - so disappointing!

Just watching her doing the interviews on The Apprentice. What a total caricature!!

They are all rubbish - only one I would consider is Marnie. At least she has a skill, boxing, and is trying to use that to set up a business. The strategy needs a rethink but seriously not another sweet shop, hair dressers, etc.

The candidates really do come across as thick as two short planks. They couldn't dress like that in the business world either, it's so inappropriate. I don't mean to be horrible about their appearance but badly filled lips and faces does nothing for them. They look ridiculous.

This is a far cry from the original apprentice programme where most of the candidates were credible and it still made for good TV.

I think Karen was adopting a persona for the interviews where they're known for being harsh and gruelling.

Karren has always looked down on the candidates but she made herself look a total arse this week.

Dh interviews and is aghast at how the candidates are treated. The interviewers often don't even greet the candidate properly and look disinterested from the outset. He'd lose his job if he behaved like that.

Plus interviews are a two way meeting and the candidates should be able to ask what Alan Sugar can bring to their business, however doomed the business plans look.

I much prefer Dragons Den where the people are treated with dignity and given constructive criticism. Sara Davies is my girl crush 😍

I think they've scraped the barrel for candidates this year - a couple of them said something along the lines of 'I didn't expect to get this far' which is why their business plans were all so hastily put together? I wonder if they were second choices because better Candidates dropped out?

I used to love the apprentice but I think it's had it's day now. By far the weakest group of candidates I've seen!

In the normal course of events none of those 5 would have been called to interview with the quality of their business plans.
I'm not surprised Karren and the others were swiping at them. Things like staff costs, stock costs, appropriate salon floor space are just basics.

Claude wasn't as savage as he normally is. The baroness Brady to you comment was ridiculous because they have all been calling her Karen throughout this process. Bring back Margaret and nick hewer as lord sugars aids.

She was so obviously trying to make a viral moment out of it. She just came across as a cunt.

There's really no point getting annoyed at the shitness of the candidates or the panto villain nonsense from the interviewers.

The Apprentice long since jumped the shark. It's now a silly reality show where 16 hapless wannabes are repeatedly deprived of sleep, then set up to fail tasks that bear no resemblance to the realities of running any kind of business.

The selection of candidates has nothing to do with their business plans or anything else. Neither do the tasks.

The "entertainment" value is derived from letting the audience feel superior to the poor sods. It's sick really. Time for it to end.

KB came to visit my husband’s university. She was vile and very up herself there too so I think she’s actually being herself 🙄

When she said 'Baroness Brady to you' she made herself look like a complete arsehole. It was embarrassing and not for the candidate though I'm sure she felt humiliated at the time. KB let herself down. Such a shitty thing to say, the pompous arse.

They definitely would not have got anywhere with those businesses. Dragons Den wouldn't have invested, if they'd even managed to get through the door with those business plans.

The worst candidates so far, and that's saying a lot as they haven't been up to much for a few seasons.

I think they weeded out a few of the better people early on.

And I also don't blame the interviewers. They're literally wasting their time.

Karen did take the persona a bit far, and as they'd been allowed to call her Karen all along. Though I'm formal interview they probably should be behaving more formally. Though I don't like titles like Sir and Baroness, and less so people who insist they be addressed by them.

It probably helps if you think of it as a game show. That's how everyone on it - including the candidates - seems to regard it. You know, like The Chase, when the governess makes panto villain remarks to contestants. It's just the same as that.

The same Karren Brady who was happily employed by two seedy pornographers?

I'd LOVE to see Alan, Karren, Linda, Claude etc (not lovely Tim) do some of the tasks themselves as they think they're all so great. Especially the shopping task where Karren does that look like someone has shat under her nose if the candidates don't know what an item is.

Yes , I remember she was due to speak at my work years ago and then senior management realised her links to very seedy businesses and pulled her.

I said on the other apprentice threads that I feel like they got rid of any candidate who (possibly) could have had a credible business plan, flattered the final 5 into getting them to the semi final, only to feed them to the wolves in the interview stage.
The interviews are always brutal and everyone, even ones who seem competent have been savaged and come unstuck, but they made it too easy with these girls because they didn't really deserve to be there. (But thats not their fault!) Having someone who doesn't know what profit and turnover are, or makes errors in adding up rent and doesnt include any stock just makes it too easy to tear them to shreds.
Victoria should have been voted off weeks ago but I still don't think its OK for Linda to patronise her by saying she should go back to being cabin crew.

It's interesting how the male interviewers while very good at leaving no stone unturned managed to not be nasty for the fake of it.

Yes the candidates are crap and yes it's tv but I'm not sure their behaviour was anything to be proud of.

I thought the same - that if any investor had looked at their business plan in advance they wouldnt have bothered having an interview or engaging further.
But I suppose saying nicely that "this business plan is so poor I can't consider discussing it further, but good luck" wouldn't make as good TV!
