Ted Lasso season 3

Anyone watch Ted Lasso? I absoloutley love it, and am rewatching it ahead of season 3 coming out later this month.

But aside from me and DH, no one I know watches it!!

I'm hoping we see Nate come back into the fold (Diamond Dogs woof!), and make ammends.

@thebellagio yes for sure! there really were some decidedly dodgy/off storylines this season when it came to female characters - which i always felt a bit ick about!

Just caught up. I love that Rebecca met her Dutchman again. But then I'm an old softie.

Believe.

In this season at least, they were probably better written than the male characters. At least Rebecca and Keeley had some depth and development - the only male characters to get any were Colin and Nate, and the less said about the Nate storyline the better…

(the Nate storyline was the most anti-feminist of the show - sad little incel is cured by the love of a woman).

All Rebecca did for most of the series was think about having a baby and waft around. She could have:

• sold a share to the supporters much earlier, that would have been really interesting to see
• started the women's team at any point (it was hinted at in season 1 and then never developed).

There could have been a good scene where she and Bex help the former assistant, why did we never see that?

The sex tape thing was dealt with in a completely lame way, and obviously the less said about Keeley in this season the better. (As with Nate!)

I also thought it was sad and weird that we never got to see the team being told Ted was leaving. Despite the length of the season, it almost felt like there was an episode missing in between 11 and 12, as so many things happened off stage.

Still, overall I think they wrapped it up reasonably well.

Ugh. I thought that was a boring, overly sentimental ending. Very disappointing. This season has been mixed but there have been some good bits.

The only bit i liked was Rebecca selling 49% to the fans and crossing paths with her Dutchman - who looked very handsome in his uniform

The rest was pointless and shit.

Sad they didn’t hook Roy and the teacher up.

I’d have liked closure on Keeley and Roy / Jamie and I don’t really understand why she and Roy broke up. I’d have liked Ted to stay because his wife and son moved to the UK. I get they made it all about how Ted isn’t needed but the whole Mary Poppins angle of the storyline didn’t really work - the show itself was called Ted Lasso after all, whatever he told Trent. Also. smiled at her sacked friend making a go of the sleazy app.

watched the last ep last night as it is our family loyal watch (we all watch it or no one does 😂). Cried buckets.

Not loving
Nate’s GF storyline (generally)
Rupert’s Herr Flick outfit
Keeley dressed as a 10year old who looks like she fell into the window of Claire’s accessories and came out wearing the display

I think this season has really highlighted the ridiculousness of the lack of openly Gay players in Men’s Football that we see today versus the women’s game. Absolutely no one judges Jill Scott for example (who is an absolute legend on and off the pitch). You’re either a great player/role model or you’re not, your personality sexuality really has nothing to do with that. Hopefully in some small way I hope TL does bring about a change in that.

Such a shame that the show isn’t shown on a wider platform in the UK. I shall miss it immensely.

The woman who played Jane was also a writer on the show so they did have female writers - just not where it counted.

like Rebecca on the boat - most women would have freaked out on finding her clothes were in the wash and she had no way of escaping. Not settled in for a cosy night with a REALLY intense guy

@ExhaustedPigwidgeon ah ok. see maybe i just presumed that there were no female writers because so much was off in terms of the women and how they were portrayed/reacted to stuff!!!

and yes - that’s a great example!

My worst was the way no one pointed out to Ted how absolutely unacceptable him contemplating hiring a private detective to follow his ex in Paris was - bar a few “it’s time to let go ted” comments from rebecca 🙄

or how keeley was completely happy not to actually be self sufficient in her business

In the absence of there being anything else to watch I just put it on again. Trent has a golden girls tshirt the absolute legend!

Trent wears some really cool T-shirts all the way through. He’s such a dreamboat 😆
