BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 09/03/2023 11:46

may contain spoilers from seasons 1 & 2

Anyone watch Ted Lasso? I absoloutley love it, and am rewatching it ahead of season 3 coming out later this month.

But aside from me and DH, no one I know watches it!!

I'm hoping we see Nate come back into the fold (Diamond Dogs woof!), and make ammends.

My ideal ending:-

Ted and Beard head back over the pond

Roy takes over as Manager and ends up dating the teacher

Keeley gets back with Jamie (I don't want her and Roy back together) and they move to Dubai or something - Jamie and Roy having a good old night out before he leaves.

They bring Barbara on board for PR

Nick gets offered a job as Head Coach somewhere else, like Man City or something

Rebecca and Sam have another fling, but she realises it will never work long term so decides to go down the fertility route herself. Her mother returns and judges the hell out of her for it but Sassy tells her where to go.

Trent ends up making millions from his book about the team, brotherhood, leadership and honor.

Higgins just keeps on Higgin.

Such a good episode tonight. The Roy Kent press conference was a punch in the guts. When Ted Lasso does things well it does it SO well.

vestanesta · 10/05/2023 23:13

Much better today.

My darling Roy back on song and loved his interaction with Rebecca.
I thought the Colin stuff was typically sweetly done and enjoyed the bit at the end when he was playing fifa with Issac
Rebecca being boss assed bitch
Jamie and Sam in general and the bantz re being captain especially
Roy's press conference and his names for the press (Goblin King)

Nate meh
Keeley meh. Why give a shit about Jack mate?

Biggest shout out for Trent's Dolly tshirt

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 11/05/2023 00:20

Lots of good stuff this week but I have decided I loathe Nate.

He's the classic "I'm just a nice guy me" type when actually he's creepy and covered in red flags.

MarciaSaysANumber · 11/05/2023 00:21

Roy … and Rebecca.

Just sayin’ …

❤️

Some lovely one liners in the first episode I thought. I think Nate’s transformation into the villain has been really well done because I cannot fucking stand him (I’m sure the actor who plays him is very nice 😁)

I hate him more than I've ever hated another character, I think it's because we all loved him so much in the beginning

thebellagio · 11/05/2023 07:18

I think the worst thing about Nate turning villain was that the others didn’t do anything to him. Yet he completely and utterly turned on him

clearly the redemption will be him coming back to Richmond but he also screwed over Rebecca, Higgins, Beard, Roy and the rest of the team so even if he was a replacement for Ted why would the others want him back

GennyGennyGenny · 11/05/2023 13:35

Nate the stalker with the woman who always looked sneery at him

I can’t remember why she agreed to go out with him n the first place and now they are a couple? So weird.

tribpot · 11/05/2023 13:41

I think she felt sorry for him when he came to the restaurant on a date with a model or something? So sat down and ate dinner with him.

To me that episode was Ted Lasso at its finest.

rebecca being a boss
higgins!
roy showing his human side
ted telling jokes/silly stories
beard being beard
the stunning writing for Colin
and even better - no boring Keely work stuff

I get what you mean about Keeley’s work being boring but at least that makes her character more multidimensional. Now she is just lovesick and, am I imagining it, or is she wearing increasingly more bizarre clothes? She has become a visual joke. There was much more to her character in the first two seasons.

thebellagio · 11/05/2023 14:06

I said it last week - but just one scene with Rebecca literally brought Keely back to life, so it was nice to see more of the two of them yesterday.

I hated the keely work stuff mainly because there was no integration with literally anything else or anyone else. You could remove every single scene, and it wouldn't impact any other storyline. Even the sex tape leak was before she started her own PR firm, and there was nothing there about how clients reacted to it, nor how Bantr her client reacted to her friend (can't remember her name she was that pointless) screwing up....

escapingthecity · 11/05/2023 21:37

Best episode of this season so far because it focussed on the team and the football.
Agree that Nate has not done enough to earn redemption. His relationship isn't remotely convincing.
Trent's book is going to be brilliant if the team let him write it.

Netaporter · 11/05/2023 22:16

Loved, loved, loved this week’s episode. Agree Trent’s book is a winner. Roy being Roy. ❤️

slamfightbrightlight · 11/05/2023 22:32

Lovely episode. Isn’t Trent Crimm a handsome fella?!

EddieHoweisMYmanager · 12/05/2023 00:31

Loved this weeks episode.

’New Trent…. I like you more than old Trent’
’who’s the fittest on the team… Bumbercatch?… yeah’
The wordless interaction between Jamie and Sam when Jamie intimated he should wear the captains armband and Sam gave him a sneaky finger.
The Denver Bronco’s story and Beards ‘for fucks sake’

I’d happily lose Nate. I don’t understand his and that girls relationship. She sneered at him for two series and now she’s his loving girlfriend, it’s weird and makes absolutely no sense. I thought she was supposed to be really dim but now she seems totally normal. Don’t get it.

it seemed like she went out with him only once she realized who he was.

thebellagio · 12/05/2023 16:12

what irritates me about the Nate storyline is that it's clearly been written from a male perspective. It's such a problematic storyline in that Nate was constantly turning up at her work unannounced and unwelcome. In any other circumstance that's borderline stalking,

If love actually gets loads of criticism for that storyline, then Tad Lasso should also.

Its not cute. Its creepy

To me, it's the classic case that Peter Crouch alluded to when asked what he would be if he weren't a footballer and his response was 'a virgin'! Love his self awareness! Or Mrs Merton's question to Debbie Magee re what attracted her to the millionaire Paul Daniels?

It has worked as now Nate is (presumably!) rich & famous, otherwise she'd still be sneering at him. Nothing to do with him stalking her IMHO.

Southeastdweller · 15/05/2023 09:01

I was cringing through the Isaac and Colin scenes. Were they supposed to be heartwarming and inspiring? I know it's not a documentary but this was fairytale rubbish and I felt embarrassed for the actors.

The Nate and Jade story is a pile of crap as well, of course.

I wonder if this season will get a load of Emmy nominations next month, as the previous two seasons have? I don't think so.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 17/05/2023 19:37

A much better week. But it's Episode Ten how many are left?

Southeastdweller · 17/05/2023 20:07

Two more episodes. Honestly, I’m glad it’s ending for good.

tribpot · 17/05/2023 20:11

Two more, @EineReiseDurchDieZeit

This one was short on football, short on Ted. I suppose it did at least cover the European super league fiasco, and it was funny seeing Dani turn into a lunatic for his international against Canada.

Way too much Keeley but she was at least doing some business stuff. Good to see Phoebe and the much-more-suitable teacher. And of course way, way too much Nate. Clearly the redemption train is pulling in to the station. I am glad that he did the kit stuff for Will, he bullied him so mercilessly last season that I was worried we were going to have a suicide storyline, however not-Ted-Lasso-ish that would have been. However, my overwhelming feeling is 'why are we meant to care?'. We're clearly meant to be delighted that Keeley and Roy are back together (don't care, think he'd be better off with the teacher) and that Nate has seen the light (don't care full stop). I'm sure we're also meant to think it's nice that Barbara has left the VC firm for Keeley but it makes no sense. There's no-one else in her PR firm now, what would she need a CFO for?!

I liked Jamie wearing 24 for Sam. And Higgins was on top form.

vestanesta · 17/05/2023 21:46

High spot for me was Jamie's present for Jamie with the u swapped for the e. But I am a child who finds swearing funny.

vestanesta · 17/05/2023 21:50

James's present for Roy obvs!

Also Roy's t shirts
