BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 09/03/2023 11:46

may contain spoilers from seasons 1 & 2

Anyone watch Ted Lasso? I absoloutley love it, and am rewatching it ahead of season 3 coming out later this month.

But aside from me and DH, no one I know watches it!!

I'm hoping we see Nate come back into the fold (Diamond Dogs woof!), and make ammends.

I really wanted to like this show but I don't get the love for it. Think I watched the first season but gave up and I love football. Didn't find it funny or really like the characters (only the one they pick on)

Maybe I'll give it another go when I renew for second series of Schmigadoon! Love that one

I've put off watching it - would have to subscribe to apple TV anyway - because a guy at work raved about it. I thought, if you like it, the show is probably rubbish 😂

Gothambutnotahamster · 26/05/2023 18:59

Just watched it - loved it. Great episode.

This is exactly the scenario I’d hoped for with Rebecca’s Amsterdam Man (who I imagined as a secret billionaire)!

Yeah it’s such a shame that that story didn’t go anywhere! What was the point of it?!

tribpot · 28/05/2023 14:42

Is Rebecca going to concede the league title to newly-crowned Bex and then go off to Amsterdam to hunt down the man on the canal boat? Something's got to happen to make sense of this bizarre fortune teller storyline.

Gothambutnotahamster · 28/05/2023 14:54

I thought the fortune teller meant she'd get pregnant by Sam?

Amsterdam just felt like a filler episode to me so can't imagine that anything more will come from that.

I'm expecting she'll bring Rupert down with tales of sexual harassment - I assume that will also be the reason why Nate left the club too. He clearly didn't participate in Rupert's night out and will have seen Rupert harass his PA (who was the person with Bex, I think) and will have wanted nothing to do with it.

tribpot · 28/05/2023 15:05

They didn't need to write any filler episodes this season, although god knows there have been filler storylines with Keeley, Nate, Zava ... the list goes on. So theoretically the Amsterdam episode should have moved the story along. Of course, it may have just been for Ted discovering total football (and some Roy/Jamie bonding).

RicciardoPerez · 28/05/2023 15:16

I'd next weeks episode the last one?

tribpot · 28/05/2023 15:18

Yes, this is the last one coming up.

thebellagio · 28/05/2023 17:53

I was convinced that Rebecca would be pregnant tk random Dutch barge man else what was the point in her visiting the fertility clinic and the shag with the Dutch dude?

but the lingering look between her and Sam this week makes me wonder if that will be another random reunion

She didn't sleep with the Dutch man, and the fertility clinic said she couldn't have a baby

clpsmum · 28/05/2023 18:02

I think the Dutch guy may come back he has a daughter so maybe she will be a stepmum

tribpot · 28/05/2023 18:06

That was my suspicion when he first mentioned his daughter - a-ha, here is Rebecca's family coming along (on a barge).

thebellagio · 28/05/2023 18:24

ffauxlivia · 28/05/2023 17:56

I remember she asked the Dutchman if they had slept together and he said no. But then as she left he said “I can’t believe you didn’t remember” so I assume they hadn’t but he was saving her blushes almost

thebellagio · 28/05/2023 18:24

I assume they had sorry

thebellagio · 28/05/2023 18:25

Basically there’s got to be something to do with her wanting a family and the Dutchman. Else what was the point of those scenes?

ffauxlivia · 28/05/2023 18:32

@thebellagio no he said to himself afterwards, 'did we? Yes, yes we did' but he was referring to connection/falling in love.

I think the point of the storyline was that it was a stepping stone to her getting over Rupert, realising that she could have hope again and trust men again etc. she was so relaxed and happy afterwards.

Or as PP said they will find each other again and the stepdaughter will fulfil the family prophecy.

When you look at the 'signs' from the psychic they referred to 3 men:

Green matchbook = Sam
Shite in nining armour = that boring guy she dated for a while than ran into again recently
Drenched and upside down = falling in the river and meeting the dutch guy

So its anyone's guess where they are going with the family prophecy or who she will end up with, if anyone!

Some people think it's all a stepping stone to her ending up with Ted as there have been a few subtle signs, but they could also be interpreted as signs that he is her platonic soulmate, and they have had hardly any scenes together this series so it could be a bit weird.

But who knows? The Sam look last week did seem to mean something too .....

TyneTeas · 31/05/2023 10:58

Just watched last episode

I think it was well done

MarciaSaysANumber · 31/05/2023 13:34

Lordy - that’s a whole five years’ worth of saccharine. From the vaguely sublime to the fucking ridiculous - and in soft focus, too!

🤮

Grin

Sad it’s all over, but really

notforonesecond · 31/05/2023 14:39

I thought there was just the right amount of sentiment (ie. fucking loads) and just the right amount of bittersweet, open ended plot lines and just the right amount of absolutely bonkers nonsense.

This season has been a bit all over the place but I’m satisfied with that ending if we don’t get any more.

I shall miss all the characters very much, but most especially Jamie. It’s a shame Phil Dunster will probably lose the Emmy to Harrison Ford, any other year he’d have walked it.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 31/05/2023 19:39

I feel that this was the right last episode for a much better season that doesn't exist.

vestanesta · 31/05/2023 20:49

My mates daughter watched it early so I was prepared for it being not perfect but thought it was quite good.

Loved:

The song performance by the team and Roy singing along
The penalty
Who was chosen to replace Ted
The whole montage at the end (yes soo sickly but I don't care)
Jamie/Roy at Keeleys
Barbara - my kind of girl

Didn't love:
The Rupert bits - too ott evil
Keeley. Waste of space and frankly Roy and Jamie could both do better
The zaava avocado bit

Overall very schmaltzy but I felt it owned that so I was happy and it made me smile which is all I really wanted from it - it's not Chekhov after all.

Twoscotcheggsandajarofmarmite · 31/05/2023 20:54

I absolutely loved it. The season was a bit rubbish, only picked up in the last three episodes but I do love a finale where all the ends are tied up.
I had tears in my eyes so many times, the Sound of Music skit, Sam playing for his National team, Colin’s boyfriend running on the pitch to kiss him ( that was all he ever wanted 😭), the kintsugi repair of the sign. So many tears! I know it was cheesy and silly but I loved it.
So there 😝
